Illrid was growing nervous. She hadn't expected this human to drop the weapon immediately, but knew she would not hesitate to fire if she didn't drop her own.

Kaitlyn backed away from it slowly, holding her hands up to prove that she was unarmed, a very human-like gesture. Perhaps if she began to act less like a Yeerk and more like a human, Illrid would be able to gain their trust. At least long enough to get them away from the ship.

"Strong enough to withstand a few weapons, I'd imagine. However, metal isn't my specialty. I'm just a tech," Norpo replied to Michael. Then they both watched as the madness unfolded.
"You still have your weapon trained on her, right?" Tia asked the woman quietly.

"Great" it looks like there could be a shoot-out, so I'm going further inside to protect myself." Michael said. At this point, he wasn't afraid of acting like a coward. This was getting really freaky.

"Oh, yeah, I do," the strange pilot woman told Tia darkly, still aiming down at Kaitlyn with both hands.

Corliss stepped back even further, almost touching the invisible ship with his back, his jacket ruffling in the wind.  "Get out of here, Illrid," he snapped.  "Before one of us gets trigger happy."

He then addressed Aurora without keeping his eyes off Kaitlyn/Illrid.  "Aurora, I think you should get on the ship now, mate, because we don't have a lot of time," he said.  Almost as if on cue, a couple of people came storming out of The Sharing building: one middle-aged Asian man who looked like a bouncer, and the well dressed woman Iniss/Chapman had been talking to and they had all run into earlier.

The burly man glared at the scene before them, glancing up at the spot where the hovering ship floated, invisible.  He had already drawn his Dracon.  "What is the meaning of this, traitors?" he roared.  "Get that ship out of here!"

Corliss blinked at them, then smiled.  "Well, mate, you asked for it," he said, shrugging, and he hopped on board the ship.  Dracon fire lanced after him, hitting the ship's shielding and making it suddenly and briefly visible beneath blue arcs of coursing energy.  The beam had flown just over Aurora and Kaitlyn's heads, the heat of its backwash hitting them.

Just a foot or two above their heads, the black, stylized, sharp looking ship listed to one side, sparks flying from its red flashing underside.  Two serrated spearlike protrusions were sticking out of the front on either side, like thin insect jaws.  An uncomfortable whirring noise reverberated through the air and two spindly, leglike metal landing gears retracted down from the bottom of the ship, like giant black two-toed eagle claws from hell.  They almost touched the ground, reaching and retracting, and suddenly the thing had a very buglike appearance to it, all twitching leg gears and red front windows like bulbous glass eyes.

And then it was gone again, as quickly as it had become visible.

Corliss held onto the rim of the hatchway as the ship rocked back.  "Whoa...come on, you're gonna get killed out there!" he shouted at Aurora.  "Bloody move!"

"So does anyone wanna tell me where we're going?" Norpo asked calmly, then released control of Tia's mouth. "You need a shooter?" she asked the pilot.

"Far away from here," muttered the pilot, who had been nearly knocked to the floor by the Dracon jolt, and was now regaining her balance by leaning against the control panel at the front of the ship.  She stuffed the Dracon back in her jacket and started bringing up transparent holoscreens, sliding icons around and bringing up scrolling readouts of Yeerkish text.  "Yeah, take the cannons..."  She nodded at the usual standard issue weaponry station, a big, creaky metal seat bolted into the floor where a Hork-Bajir usually stood in front of the black joystick-like controls.  A similar holoscreen flickered above, displaying the red and yellow glowing aiming system.

The pilot also had a way-too-big, scratched up seat bolted in where a Taxxon pilot usually manned the controls.  In fact, it appeared this little Bug fighter had a great deal of retrofitting to accomodate humans...and that it was kind of a piece of junk, at least by Yeerk standards...

"Corliss!" the pilot yelled, still tapping at the controls.  "Get your *ss in gear, do we got everyone?  We're getting the hell out of here.  I hope you trust this chick, she's taking your seat."

"Hang on, Myitt, bloody girl isn't on board yet," Corliss yelled back from the hatch, but it was hard to hear over the drone of the engines outside.

Tia slid into the chair. "Just be glad Norpo's not doing the shooting!" Tia shouted, casting a grin Corliss' way. She moved the targeting system, taking aim at the group of Controllers. "If I take out the building, can you get us out of here in time? I don't want to risk casualites!"

"Take out the building?" the woman called Myitt repeated distractedly, bringing up several holoscreens at once.  "You'll kill half the people in there.  I think I'd call them casualties."  Another Dracon shot rocked the ship.  "Come on, Corliss, get the girl and let's go!"

"Alright," Tia muttered to herself, pressing a few buttons. She tried to scan for an area to shoot without taking casualties. "Let me know when Corliss and the girl are in!" she shouted.

Kaitlyn stared coldly at the girl. They both knew that they had lost. Illrid knew that if she was unable to stop them, they would pin the blame for this entire situation on her, and she would be demoted. Neither of them liked the idea. It would mean a diffent Yeerk, for Kaitlyn, and there were apparently a lot worse than Illrid.

Kaitlyn tried to lunge for the girl, Aurora. But as she took her first step, she felt a hand clasp firmly over her arm and begin to pull her back.

"What the hell are you doing?!" she screamed. "Stop them!"

"You're going to get us all killed, Illrid. Come on. You've done enough damage as it is."

He began to pull her back, away from the ship, away from her one chance at proving she wasn't useless.

"Go ahead and run!" she spat at the traitors and the humans. "We will find you! When we do, you'll regret this! You'll beg for death! You--" Another hand clamped over her mouth as she was pulled further back, also away from the building. The ship became visible once more, and she suddenly realized what they were trying to do. Without hesitation, she broke free of the man's grasp and began to run.

Kaitlyn's lunge at Aurora made her jerk back in surprise and she dropped the Dracon that had been trembling in her hand. She stumbled backwards in the general direction of the ship, scared to go in and terrified of the drama unfolding in front of her.

(Hey, good timing! XD)

Corliss sighed, exhasperated, and leaned precariously out of the hatch of the invisible ship, clinging to the threshold.  He made an attempt to grab Aurora's arm to help her onboard.  "Come on, get up here, they're gonna murder us you idiot!"

Michael was at the back of the ship the whole time. He ran over to Mike and Aurora and helped Mike pull Aurora up.

"Are we clear?" Tia shouted to the pilot. "Cause I think if I hold off on firing any longer, we're gonna have a problem!" Norpo and Tia were trying to avoid firing on the Controllers, so she fired a few warning shots on the lowest setting the cannons had to ward them off and buy her companions a few more minutes.

Aurora suddenly felt a hand - Mike's - close around her arm. She shouted in surprise and jerked away, but another pair of hands grabbed her other arm. She shouted again as she was lifted into the ship.
