"Puzzles, eh kid?" says Jeffrey, sighing. "I can't say I'm exactly a fan, but if you're young it's probably good to solve fake problems before tackling real ones."
When he overhears William, he says "Still, I'm just saying," says Jeffrey, giving a kind of shrug with just his right arm and hand to William. "You've gotta be careful in here. We know exactly jack **** about that Bartender."
Jeffrey sips his drink idly and listens to the conversations around him for a moment. Not really seeing a point where he should intervene except when Ossanlin begins speaking on power. He remembers vividly the odd feeling he gets around the blue deer, and the strange desire of the thing to talk to him at some later point. What the hell could we possibly have to talk about? ...something....I guess...
"Power?" Jeffrey finds himself barking out, with almost a laugh. "Look pala--- Ossanlin, power is as power does and no one understands it. Feeling guilty over it is stupid! I don't even know why I got my power--- I doubt anyone does in my whole Dome; It's like a roll of the dice whether or not the key genes'll express themselves. It doesn't even really matter how much you have, because it's a means to an end! You just need enough to do whatever it is you're trying to do. If you really needed to turn back time, I'd say however much you have is enough." After all, I needed enough to alter the will of everyone in the Dome...My own was never enough. I dreamed of having the breadth of your ability, was willing to die for it...and you're scared of the consequences?
