Chris came to with a start as the Kel hound dropped him to get a rest. He let out a moan and fell silent. He quietly got up, wincing, and crouched. Summoning up the last of his strength, he lunged for the beast. He landed on its back and dug his claws in. The Hound turned and tried to claw him but only left a scratch. Chris couldn't bite it with the turning and neither could it get him. He slashed a hefty claw across it's neck and it fell to the side. It then slashed him and scored a deep gash. Chris pinned it and clamped down on it's neck to finished it. He realized that if he didn't demorph NOW he would faint. He focused on his human self and slowly he began to become himself. Once he was human he focused on Lion again. No point in being out in the desert defenseless. He started back towards the way he had come by following the scent.

((Glad to have you back... maybe he conveniently hears Reli calling, at least faintly, and realizes that Marty is also awol? Tiny suggestion. :] ))

All of this was happening so fast for Fisher, but he was trained for that wasn't he? So why didn't he do anything? Standing there, shredder held out with his guys waiting for a command, he just watched as a pack of Earth animals tore out of a shed and into the pack of Kel-hounds. He watched as they chased after them, not even letting off a shot.

He turned to realize that Marty was, gone? His eyes shot open, why hadn't he bloody noticed this? What kind of marine was he? Disgusted, he whirled around to see Reli and Shaun arguing over going after Marty. Fisher couldn't take this, no bloody way he was leaving someone behind, especially not Marty.

"Look, we'll use the ship to hover and find him ok? Now everyone in now!"

<<Thank you, Fisher.>> Reli whispered so that only Fisher and his team could hear it.

<Good plan; even if we have trouble finding them immediately, we'll be visible to anybody on the ground. for some distance away If Marty or Chris can see us, one of them may find a way to signal to us or at least navigate back toward us.>

Reli boarded the ship, stalk eyes turned to Shaun to make sure he also got on board.

Chris was focused on following the trail. But he thought he heard his name called. Perhaps the others were looking for him. He sped up his pace.

<Do you have to look at me like that? I'm getting on the ship.>
Marco: Now do you see why it's crazy to think we can beat the Yeerks? I mean, come on: We can barely beat zoo security.

Tobias: (now stuck as a hawk) They'll come. The Andalites will come. And until then...
Jake: (nods and wipes tears) Yeah. Until then, we fight.

Just as the last member of the group was boarding the stolen Kelbrid fighter, one of the celebrating Pemalites turned. When she caught sight of creatures exactly like the ones that had chased off the pack of Kel-Hounds, she began pointing and gesticulating towards them, drawing the attention of her companions. Several of them - mostly youngsters, and none of the warriors - ran to the ramp, hoping to show their gratitude to their alien allies. Only then did they realize that they recognized a few of the creatures as the very ones that had come to them aboard the ship. A murmur rose up from the crowd.  Did their strange visitors possess the same shape-shifting abilities as the oppressive Kelbrid? What did this mean?

There was the slightest shifting in some rubble behind the main row of primitive structures. The sound could hardly be expected to go much farther than a couple yards. <Ugh...>

Chris soon came in sight of the village. The Kel-hound hadn't taken him far. As he passed a hut quietly so as not to announce his arrival to any remaining Kel-hounds, he heard a noise... Or rather a thought. He turned and sniffed at the pile of rubble behind the hut.

Reyna seemed unaware that anything else was happening. Once she successfully boarded the ship she made for the furthest corner, where she circled in her canine body and lay down upon the cool metal flooring.

We survived, she told herself. Our morph is faster than we thought. Now that she was safe she began to relax, and the haze began to find its way back in as a thin film that covered everything. She closed her eyes, far more exhausted than she should be.

<Hey, hey guys?> Marty 'shouted'. He was trapped under the rubble of a house that had collapsed on him during his escape from the Kel-Hound. It hadn't been able to get to him easily, and it had fled with its pack when the time came. Marty whimpered unintentionally... it just seemed to be a natural response to his situation, at least for his morph.

Mesa's head was whirling with all of this.  Sher heard thought-speak from Chris!  And Marty!  Marty's thought-speak obviously sounded confused and dazed, but Chris's was clearer.  He sounded tired, though.  The Pemalites were creeping closer.  Mesa hesitantly paced down the ramp, pausing at the bottom.  <Marty?>  She called out.  <Chris?  Where are you?  What is...>  She shook her head, glad for once for the lack of her psychic.  The mind noise had to be almost ear-splitting right now, and her own confusion was overwhelming.

((Chris and Marty are behind a hut.))
Chris's head swiveled towards Mesa's voice. She sounded confused. <I...uh...kinda'...uh...got dragged off. Come on guys I think marty's stuck under some junk.> Lions don't dig well so he started demorphing. He was tired. He didn't think he could last much longer with out a rest.

Shaun ran down the ramp so that he could help dig out Marty. <I'm coming guys I do have the only hands in morph.>

Mesa followed the "sound" of his thought-speak, swerving around a hut to see a lion, slowly demorphing.  By the speed of the morph, Chris was obviously exhausted.  <Demorph, but stay human.  Get some rest, you're obviously...asleep on your feet.>  She had to think for a moment to remember the proper human phrase.  Telling him he looked like a kre-tilpe-am would mean nothing to him.  She started pawing at the rubble Chris was looking at.  <Marty?  Marty, is that you?>
