Pick your land, air and seas morph
« on: July 24, 2008, 02:50:32 PM »
You can only pick one animal to morph of each from these environments

-Land: Siberian Tiger (though I would like to be a dog)
-Air: Peregrine Falcon (but a pigeon wouldn't be bad at all)
-Sea: Bottlenose Dolphin (tempted to say an orca instead)
This great evil - where's it come from?
How'd it steal into the world?
What seed, what root did it grow from?
Who's doing this?
Who's killing us, robbing us of life and light, mocking us with the sight of what we mighta known?
Does our ruin benefit the earth, aid the grass to grow and the sun to shine?  Is this darkness in you, too?  Have you passed through this night?

Land: Black Panther. Cats make good battle morphs, even though their endurance isn't the best. The black coat of the panther makes it a stealthier night hunter than other cats.

Air: Turkey buzzard. Buzzards are good at soaring, and the turkey buzzard is big. I don't know exactly how good buzzards are at distance flying, but since they're scavengers they must be good. I'm sure a buzzard is also better at fighting than a goose or duck.

Sea: Great white shark. There isn't much in the ocean that can take down one of the biggest sharks. Sharks are to top apex predators as well.

Air: Female Peregrine Falcon (cos it's bigger than the male Peregrine)
Land: Male Red Kangaroo (mainly cos it has really sharp claws, and it has really powerful legs, oh and it's the biggest 'roo in all of australia! also, cos it can cover long distances really quick)
Sea: Great White Shark.... muahahahahaha

Air morph: Andean Condor.
Land morph: Spotted Hyena.
Sea morph: Definitely a Dolphin.

Now, morphs that I would realistically have access to acquire, around me;
Air morph: Seagull or Sparrow. No wait! I always wanted to try being A Willy-Wag Tail. A type of tiny bird, black and white, that is very daring, fast and acrobatic here.
Land morph: A wide range of dogs. Would pick a big breed like a Doberman or a Great Dane.
Sea morph: A crab. No way I want to be my housemate's goldfish. It would be bad venture in the sea in that tiny morph.

Water: Great White Shark. So I can actually breathe under water as opposed to worrying about holding my breath.

Land: Wolf, for both strength and infiltration purposes.

Air: Ferruginous Hawk. The largest species of hawk in the US.

Land: Spotted hyena would be pretty cool.  Strong jaws, great endurance, amazing senses, and not too big to be stealthy.

Air: Turkey vulture.  They can be found from Canada to the southern most parts of South America.  And they are pretty cool too (as this comic thing demonstrates).

Water: Maybe a sawfish since they can function in both fresh and saltwater, they are pretty big, and THEY HAVE A SAW ON THEIR FACE!

Air: Golden Eagle, great and fast flyer and far less likely to be prey for something else.

Land: Wolf.  I always liked the way they described the experience of being wolves in the books.

Ocean: Killer whale.  Great speed and agility, can have fun much like being a dolphin, but without the risk of predation.

Air - Raven, Great Horned Owl, or white/grey Gyrfalcon, depending entirely on the location and times of day we'd be flying. Raven would definitely be the most practical of the lot: big and clawsome enough that nothing short of larger falcons want anything to do with them in the air, ordinary-looking enough to be inconspicuous at most temperate latitudes, at most times of day. Weather hardy, frequently seen both solitary and in groups, so not a giveaway if we fly solo. Soaring and woodland gliding capabilities, both, and just migratory enough to handle distances well.
If we're dealing entirely in night flight, the owl. If we're in cold latitudes with enough snow cover to keep us from being conspicuous, falcon.

Land - Least weasel (Mustela nivalis). Tiny, great for hiding, seasonal camouflage, and ten types of vicious when harassed. If by 'land' we mean 'combat', then Polar Bear.

Marine - Leopard Seal (if cold water). Otherwise, Shortfin Mako Shark. Fast, migratory, able to leap incredibly high from the water... and the whole 'has gills' thing is useful, too.
The universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. There is, in truth, no Past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. The only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.

Land- Siberian tiger for it's speed and strength. I read an encyclopedia that talked about how 13 full grown men (hunters) killed a certain type of buffalo but couldn't even shift it, let alone carry it, they had to abandon it. Eventually, a Siberian tiger simply came and carried it away for 2 miles :woot: that's the kind of strength I want.

Sea- the dolphin for it's happy mind. I've suffered from depression all my life so I think the dolphin could help me there.

Air- the bald eagle. Actually if I could chose one morph it would be this. The way the experience was described in the books was for lack of better words AMAZING :whoa:

Easy.

Air: American Kestrel (LOVE the feathers on a male kestrel)
Land: Jaguar (I think they're third in the "baddest big cats" list)
Sea: Orca (can't help it. Love the design and one of the few things in the sea that can take down sharks)

Air: Penguin. Don't try to feed me your "it can't fly it only swims!" nonsense. It's a bird, not a fish. And the lack of evidence proving its ability of flying has more to do with lack of effort on their part, not an actual inability to do so. I'll be flapping on my rooftop every day for the allotted 2 hours until I can finally pull it off. Row, row, fight the power.

Sea: Megalodon. The oceans have a little less prying eyes than the open wild, which means having to worry less about humans. This is just my ego at work here; there's really something to admire about the imposing size of a whale along with the foreboding atmosphere of a predator. It would feel nice to be Queen of a territory every once in a while.

Land: Sloth. They are a freaking contradiction to Darwinism. Considering all the strong and able-bodied and fierce animals that have gone extinct over millions and millions of years, how the hell are sloths still around? Look at them! They're snails who've permanently morphed lanky monkeys. And spending a single evening with them would be like 4 years of therapy condensed into a few hours. My human life is hectic enough as it is, I don't need to add to that with a predatory animal as my only land morph. I'd need that in the waters only.

Battle:
Land - Polar Bear
Air - African Crowned Eagle
Sea - Tiger Shark

Morphs that will blend in and not cause a giant fuss among scientists
Land - Male Red Kangaroo
Air - Peregrine Falcon: the various subspecies blend in just about anywhere and not many people can tell the difference
Sea - Saltwater Crocodile

Land: I am under the assumption that this would also be my primary battle morph. I'm gonna have to go with mountain lion. Stealth, brawn, speed, incredible senses, extremely deadly, and at least in my area of the States, something that wouldn't be too out of place.

Sea: Help me out here. I just don't know. My impulses say orca for some reason. I'm seeing a lot of prehistoric creatures on this list, but with only three morphs, stealth should be a possibility for all three. And being a megalodon or a badass ancient whale or sea-dwelling ancient reptile might win battles, but it would get noticed FAST. At the same time, I don't feel like orcas are fast enough, and they're not maneuverable in reef or complex environments the way a shark or dolphin would be. No idea. I don't look into sea life a lot.

Air: I wanted to say kestrel, but birds of prey are way too observable, and tire quickly if the air isn't working with them. It may be lame-sounding, but canada goose. They fit in just about everywhere, they fly fast, they have amazing endurance, and although they might not be able to inflict serious damage, they can still cause a lot of pain in a pinch. Alternatively, maybe some sort of swan; I KNOW that a large swan can kill a human.
