<You know what I mean,> Olivia chided.  <This morph isn't driving me that mad.>

After Ultor had presonally killed the traitor, he oredered the body and the hork-bajir back to  the Van and told the human controllers to fan out the search. Realistically, though, his hopes were low. The girl could be anywhere. As he began to raise the lid of a dumpster in an alley, his phone rang and he answered. "What?!" The sub-visser snapped, "I am rather busy at the moment."
Meh.

"Right..." Chad smiled. "Then, hold your horses. If the meeting's done, I think I need to go now. Cause I said I'd be back soon...." He scraped his chair to the side, stood up, and said, "See you guys later..."

Vibrations! Light! Hide!  The roach mind awakened when the darkness was disturbed.  Josefina had not expected this so she lost control as the roach dove deeper into the garbage to hide.

(("Nice Mr. Yeerk genius. You really know when to call." "Why do I even try to talk to you?" "Because you're desperate and need someone to talk to and I'm that person."))

"Um....I apologize for bothering you sir. Since you're busy I'll call you later." (("Butt kisser huh? You sound like me when I was a child. Soft." The yeerk finally said nothing.))

"Oh yes, please don't ruin my nice shirt..." Sean said. He scooted his chair back, which whined as it scraped across the floor.

"Um... I'm not sure if I'll be able to get there as soon as you guys." Brian said. "I'll have to try and come up with some kind of excuse for going out that late. Maybe I'll 'accidentally' drop the milk. I'll just have to find you guys later, if I'm able to come at all...

Sean was wary about that idea. He made a disapproving sound. "I really don't like that idea, Brian..."

"I'll make sure to find you guys before I start petting the animals; would that make you feel better?" Brian offered. He wasn't trying to be sarcastic or anything, he was just trying to convince Sean not to tell him to send him home. He really didn't want to miss this. Hopefully, he wouldn't have to.

Laurence was in the back of the van.
"Where do you think you're going?" Jazar asked Sandresh as she tried to enter the van too.
"I want her to see it," she said. "That way she will know that there is no hope for the humans."
Jazar told her to go back to the house.  "I'm doing you a favour, your host is showing enough as it is and you'll lose control if you go to the pool now."
Sandresh walked back to the house angrily.

<I thought us woman were so protective of our clothes,> Olivia comented.

Brian snickered, and Sean rolled his eyes at Olivia's comments. "Too bad we can't get in touch with Jo. It would be really good if she could meet us there, too."

"Maybe I'll have to go with her some other time. Y'know, if I'm not able to go tonight for some reason." Brian said as he followed Sean out the door.

Sean shrugged. "There's no reason why you couldn't go twice. Although... preferably you'd only be 'petting the animals' once. Bye y'all!" He shouted as he got in his car. He lifted Olivia's lizard body out of his pocket and placed her on the seat next to him. "Give me just a second to get out of the parking lot, then you can demorph. Let's hope that Tarry isn't too bored..."

Brian left the coffee shop, and drove right past the pet shop. He had another plan....

<If it is ok with you,> Olivia said.  <I need to go shopping for clothes.  The only outfit I have now I picked out of a goodwill bin last night and fits Jo better than me.>

"Why is this so hard for Miriam?" Jazar asked after they were inside again.
"She loves him," Sandresh said as calmly as she could.
This was news to Merlin.  As far as he knew this was a small detour on her way to New York.  Maybe by marrying him she helped him get in to the country.  "But what about her dream?"  Jazar let Merlin ask.  "Network evening news anchor."
Miriam answered though Marlin could not figure if that was Sandresh's intent.  "I loved him more than that dream."

Kristin was really excited for tonight.  She knew exactly what animal she would acquire.  Since she was a young girl, her favorite animal was the panther.  Finishing the rest of her tea, Kristin went out to her car and started the drive to the pet store.

Chad drove all the way back home, a black cloud hanging over him. He didn't know exactly why--no, change that. It was because it seemed like his dad was getting all judgemental on them. He rolled his eyes and concentrated on the traffic-filled road. He sighed. When he finally got home, he saw that his Mom was inside, cooking something for dinner. Jared, his brother, was presumably in his room. He jogged up into his room and closed the door; he locked it. "Now..." he muttered, digging through his closet.
When he had gotten skin-tight clothing, he put it on and decided it was time to morph Sparky. Anything had to be better than that crab a few days ago. He closed his eyes and brought up the picture of the dog. "Time to morph," he said desively, just as his nose hardened and formed into a snout. It had worked! It worked!

"Don't let her get in your way any more," Jazar ordered.  "We need you to do the media Yeerk thing and have everyone on the look out for Josefina."
"Sure thing," Sandresh agreed.  "I think a kidnapping story is in order."

After several hours, Ultor very reluctantly called of the search, he moved slowly back towards the home and hosts occupied by Sandresh and Jazar. When he re-entered the house, he made his way back towards the living room. "Jazar, Sandresh, get in here!" He snapped, "We have much to discuss regarding this Laurence."\
-----
After taking a tour of the house and it's devices, and having watched TV for an hour or so, Tarrade was, to put it mildly, bored out of his mind. Humans were such a primitive species.
Meh.

"Sure, you can go shopping. I'll let you take my..." Sean was going to offer Olivia his car, but he remembered that she couldn't be seen around town. "Um... You should demorph now. You've got eighteen minutes left." Maybe Josefina could go shopping for her.... Or maybe she could go shopping as Jo. He again felt somewhat sorry for her, since she gave up everything for people she'd known for ten minutes.

Brian got home in about ten minutes. He said hi to his mom and brother who was watching TV, and then went out the back door. Brian made sure no one was watching him, though he had no reason to be secretive. If anyone asked why he'd gone over to the compost barrel, he'd say he was looking for the pruning shears. His mom had been nagging him to trim the straggly bush under the window out front for a while, so it would be believable. There were flies all over the place by the side of the shed where the compost bin was, exactly like he'd expected. Within a minute, one had landed on his arm. Instead of swatting at it, he thought about it. Focused on it, like the others had said to do. The fly was still for a long time before it began to slowly walk along, finally flying off after thirty seconds or so. Had it worked? He wasn't sure. Should he try it, maybe in the bathroom? Again, he wasn't sure. Sean had said not to morph alone, and it was good advice. But still....

When Chad was done, he knew very well what would happen next. The dog was just so happy! Once he'd gained control, he began to sniff around his room. The dog could hear so much better than him, and he wondered how to deal with his hearing when he was done. After several minutes, he concentrated on himself and began to become normal again.
