Okay I didn't see any of these songs yet!
Our Lady Peace – "Somewhere Out There"
Okay I know this song's completely cheesy, but whatever. Completely ignoring the fact that this song's obviously about a girl, I've always imagined this to be a hypothetical conversation Tobias imagines having with Elfangor after learning that he's Elfangor's son (book #23).

Last time I talked to you, you were lonely and out of place
You were looking down on me lost out in space
Elfangor remembering the first time he met Tobias as he looked down on him while he died.
... You've gone to save our lives
I turned on the radio to find you on satellite
I'm waiting for this sky to fall, I'm waiting for a sign
Tobias thinking of why Elfangor left Earth and back to the war – so he could try to save Tobias and Loren and the rest of Earth. "Eflangor had run away from his duty when he came to Earth. He'd had no choice but to return to that duty. No choice at all, if he was to play the part he had to play, and be the great prince he was. I'd lost a father. Because of that fact. Elfangor had been where he had to be, when he had to be there, to change the lives of five ordinary kids forever. And maybe... maybe... save the human race." (Book #23, pg. 150) Also that last line relate to how for a majority of the series Tobias and the other Animorphs base their impressions of Andalites off Elfangor and expect them to come rescue Earth.
Hope you remember me when you're home sick and need a change
... I know you'll come back someday, on a bed of nails I'll wait
I hope that you don't burn out or fade away
All we are is all so far
Tobias hoping that Elfangor thought of him while he was away from Earth and tired from the war. *shrugs* IDK...
Better Than Ezra – "Breathless"
I've always thought this song summed up Rachel's strength to Tobias quite nicely, particularly in that beach scene at the end of book #33.

Here you are now, fresh from your wars
Back from the edge of time
And all that you were, stripped to the bone
I thought you'd want to know
When you feel the world is crashing
All around your feet
Come running headlong into my arms
Breathless
... Lay down your guns, too weak to run
Nothing can harm you here
Your precious heart, broken and scarred
Somehow you made it through
I only ask that you won't go again
Rachel reflecting on the torture that Tobias just went through. Also here's an excerpt from the book that I always think about with these lyrics: "I started to run toward Rachel. She saw me and smiled. I slowed as I neared her, breathing hard. And suddenly I had my arms around her. I buried my face in her hair. She held me tightly." (pg. 154)
I'll never judge you
I can only love you
Come now running headlong into my arms
Breathless, oh, breathless
This book focused a lot on Tobias not really knowing who he was, but at the end he realized it didn't really matter, except that Rachel loved him. "Who am I? What am I? A bird. A boy. Something not quite human. Something more than human. The person Rachel loves." (pg. 155)
So glad to see you smiling
So good to hear you laugh
I think that you've found you
Even missed yourself
After everything that had happened Rachel knows how to take Tobias's mind off of the pain and make him smile again. "Then, she said, 'Hey, it's nice and warm. But there are some killer thermals.' I smiled. 'Let's fly.' 'Yeah," she agreed. 'Right after I do this.' She kissed me. 'Okay, now let's fly,' she said and laughed her wild, wicked, self-mocking Rachel laugh. And in a short time we were coasting on a thermal, high over the beach. Over the distant hills. Over the city. Over everything. The memory of the mission was far behind. The close call with death forgotten. For a while." (pg. 155)
Valencia – "Head in Hands"
Song about Jake after the war (book #54). Thinking about some of the things that he had to do, his guilt of Tom's and Rachel's deaths, and his fallout from his relationship with Cassie.

Well, I've been saving my breath for another year
I've wasted my time of coming clean to you
On how I'm always catching up
Takes place one year after the war had ended. "Cassie was sitting just beyond him. We had exchanged smiles and awkward hugs. I had dreaded this for months. I didn't know what to say to her. I didn't know what to say to anyone lately. Maybe I was getting stupid in my old age." (pg. 81)
Head in hands, I find
That I've been fighting the words
This just isn't worth my time
It's not a way to die
Suffocated by stress
My life is a mess
It's not right
After Jake screws up on his testimony. "The prosecutor prodded me with questions. I answered them. But memories filled the courtroom. I couldn't get them out of my head. And each question triggered more... What was the matter with me? I knew I was screwed up. I knew I'd made a fool of myself. I'd let everyone down. I left the courtroom straightaway and found my way back to my hotel room. I sat on the bed and just held my head in my hands and stared. I don't know how long. (pg. 85)
Head in hands, we climb
Separated by fate
That got in the way of life
Of all the ways to die
Suffocated by stress
My head is a mess
It's not right
I dunno, basically the assumption that if certain things didn't happen the way that they did, Cassie and Jake may have ended up together, but fate got in the way~
