Keep your mind to yourself. No one has any right to it but yourself.
So if I have the right to keep my mind to myself, don't I also have the right to let a Yeerk live in it by my own choice?
You're apparently not supposed to choose that over the other.

It's like saying that even though you have the right to vote, you also have the right to NOT vote. But you aren't supposed to excercise your right to not vote. ::)

First off I think there is a difference between property rights (aka, your head) and civil rights (right to vote).

However I'm not going to argue about that because admittedly that was just a last minute thought of mine I put in to show that using the "right to your own mind" thing was a bit of a flawed argument since if its "my mind" I could do what I want with it, including letting a Yeerk in. But like I said it was a last-minute thing so I'm not going to worry about it to much.

We all said that if we were to allow a Yeerk in our head it would be the ones that are like the peace movement and want to live in mutualism symbiosis with the host instead of being parasites.
I never said I wanted that kind of yeerk. I'd let a mean yeerk inside my head. I'd let any yeerk (except for maybe esplin 9466) enter my head. And I don't care if you guys think that's wrong. I would and that's the truth.
Eh, to each his own.

Sure you have the right to put an alien into your head. But why would you? You all talk about benefits. I can imagine you could get info on technology, but you don't really get it. The Yeerk does all the work. Its like being replaced by another person. Yeerks don't go into peoples heads to have a fun time. They go to control you, thats why your called a controller. You think it will give you some control, but why should it. You're at its mercy.
You might think you could just let the Yeerk live in your head and not become inolved. Why would you settle for any less control of yourself than you have now? Whatever happened to the solve your own problems mentality? Why lets a Yeerk do it?
So yeah, you have the right to let a Yeerk crawl into your head, but the Yeerk has no right to control you. Unless of course you give them that right and allow yourself to be controlled by another being. That must be real easy, to let someone else live your life. Sounds like the thoughts of a weak quitter.

You don't seem to get the point of letting in Yeerks who don't want to control us, like the Yeerk Peace Faction/Movement/whatever its called. They want a friendly, cooperating relationship with the host. The ones that would want to control most us wouldn't let in voluntarily. Or at least I won't.

I never said benefits. I don't care if my situation becomes worse. And it can completely control me if it wants to. You can call me a weak quitter if you want. I don't care.

I would never want to be infected by a Yeerk but if i absolutely had to be infested but I could choose which Yeer kwould crawl into my head. I'd choose one from the Yeerk Peace movement

1. Because he wont be evil and I'll probably still have some control over myself

2. I wont get pwned by the Animorphs whenever they invade the Yeerk pool

Don't forget that a lot of us (or at least me) are thinking of a situation AFTER the war, where things like this would be monitored. Where the Yeerks wouldn't have the rights to keep people in cages. So in that case, they'd sort of HAVE to let the hosts have some freedom, if the host wants it. Because when the Yeerk has to feed, if there are no cages, then the host can just walk away.

One reason I can imagine it would be kinda pleasant to have a yeerk inside your head, provided they are nice enough is a companionship that runs deep. If anyone has read the His Dark Materials trilogy, all humans in that universe have daemons (animals that can talk etc that have been with them from birth and who are an extension of the human's soul almost).

To be honest if I were to allow a yeerk into my head, I would make it clear from the outset that I would be in control of my body and the yeerk may observe (which is a better deal than being a blind, deaf slug) and when I allowed it, it would take control.

that entirely depends on the yeerk. a dominate yeerk will simply laugh at you and use you as a puppet while others may be more leanate. i wonder how much control does the yeerk have on the brain of it's host.. we know moter skills, memory, and launage are all controlled but can a yeerk control the vial parts of the brain? for a host to go to sleep, make a heart stop beating? lower or raise one's body tempeter? much like the Symbiotes in the Marvel universe or Cortana in the Halo universe, they both have increased capablties on effecting the host nerveus system beyond just simple mind control.

I wish there was a 'maybe' option on the poll. I think that it depends entirely on the situation.

However, I think that I would resist as hard as I possibly could, up until the point I was actually infested. At that point it would depend entirely on the Yeerk. If it was a particularly cruel Yeerk I would fight, but if it was a Peace Movement Yeerk or even an Empire Yeerk who wasn't cruel I wouldn't fight.

I mean, if I'm only going to have an hour or so of freedom every three days, I'd much rather spend it on a sofa watching tv instead of in a cage. Just saying...

honestly I don't care what others think about me, and I don't see the glory in war and fighting.

I answered "no" too... I wouldn't like to help destroying a planet.
But to help a Yeerk I like... well, I always wanna help friends, so even if it's a Yeerk, no problem... But poor guy, my brain is too strange... he'd become crazy.
If I was enslaved, I'd try to confuse my Yeerk or become friend with him... to be a resistant ;)
A cool Controller is a resistant ^_^
... even if the heroes of my fanfictions are never resistant ;)

Well, first to be a voluntary host, you would probably go through the Sharing. I would never join the Sharing because it sounds rediculously lame. But aside from that, I agree with Jake, when people start talking about being a part of something bigger than yourself, thats how racism and wars and bigotry are started.
Until then we fight.

correct me if I'm wrong, but you sound like I wouldn't know what the sharing really was when I become a controller. I'm not in it for anything the sharing promises. I just want a yeerk in my head.
