Introduction: This is an origin story for a character I created for Fubar's RPG site Animorphs: New Beginning. She is a Human-Controller
who was born on the Yeerk homeworld and learned their ways. I made up the Galard words since we learn so little of the language anyway.
Kess awoke from her sleep. She had slept in a Yeerk pool the entire night, as was her habit. She did this in the hope that a Yeerk would swim into her ear canal and bend her to its will. But none ever did. She sobbed.
"Why do they refuse to infest me? she thought. I'd never disobey my Yeerk. I'd make an excellent Controller. She looked over at her pet Gedd, Kodo. Kodo was actually her mother's first host, and she kept it with her always. She hugged the Gedd close and sighed in Galard, "Ge pord re@ locenzka" (English: You're so lucky)
"Kess?" Her mother called. "Where are you?"
"Lo Kess sa, Welo" said Kess. (English: Here Kess is, mother)
Her mother smiled sweetly at her and said, "Today is a special day for you, my child."
"Zo salong ge narek, welo?" (What do you mean, mother?)
"Lean over the pool. It is time to receive your Yeerk."
Kess obeyed and leaned over. She closed her eyes, wanting the chosen Yeerk to be a surprise. Presently, a Yeerk slithered into her ear. For a moment, Kess felt strange and listless. She had been told this would happen, so it did not bother her. When the listlessness passed, she heard the Yeerk's voice.
"Hello, my child" it said.
Kess was astonished. It was her mother's voice!
"Welo? Zak'rd ge la Kess?" she asked (Mother? Why are you inside Kess?)"
"It is time you learned why you were born on the Yeerk homeworld rather than that of your true origin: the planet called Earth. You were created to be the perfect host." said Keslin 319. "That is why we raised you in our ways. We knew if we raised you here, you would never know what it means to be human. You are a host. That is all you are."
Then Kess turned to face the humans who had given birth to her and served as vessels for the Yeerks that conducted the experiment. A Hork-Bajir Controller gave her a Dracon.
"Kill them both." Keslin 319 commanded.
Kess obediently fired. The hosts were obliterated.
From that moment on, Kess and her "mother" were never apart.
