The first time we were talking about the Spamming police, it was in a thread about spammers, and someone suggested the spamming police idea and I was like 'Yeah, that's a pretty good idea'
and then one of the mods, not sure which one, said something like 'This is getting out of hand. Locked.' How was that getting out of hand? It was on topic and all that was said was 'I agree'.
But these haven't been the only times, they've just been the only times recently. I feel a lot of the mods here prematurely lock threads 90% of the time they lock them, and almost never give a reason for it, at least not in the ones I've seen in the past, and its beyond annoying when you're having a conversation, and you're in the middle of it, and suddenly you're not allowed to continue it, with no explanation. It seems some of the mods just do that to remind people that they're a mod and I don't agree with that kind of attitude. I've been a mod on several sites and not once have I ever acted like that, because I think that kind of attitude is inappropriate for a mod to have.
If a thread is not out of control, and no harm is coming from it, then why lock it or delete it? Even when one is off-topic, I don't really consider that bad as long as its something that everyone in the thread is participating in and not just two buddies having their own little convo within it, but that's just personally me. It just seems to me that there are a couple mods on here that just like to remind people that they're mods.
