quick thought about cube
« on: April 06, 2009, 01:30:53 PM »
Why did elfangor have the blue cube with him when he crash landed on earth? I dont see the andalites taking it out on deepspace missions, it seems more like they would only need to use it once and that would be at the academy on the andalite homeworld.

I don't know. The best explanation I have is that he saw the timelines of his sons and other kids intersect with his own timeline when the Ellemist sent him back. So when he found out he'd be sent to Earth, he decided to pack an Escafil Device.

but according to the book, he was only going back to get the time matrix, the fact that he met them was coincidence, i dont think he knew he would see them. giving them the morphing power was a last resort since he didnt have time to get the matrix

This is a subject that has been talked about millions of times and everyone has their own theories as to why. The truth is we don't actually know why Elfangor would have the cube with him that night, besides the fact that he had to have it for the story to work.

Cheers Pheonix!

There's a reason it's called "Fiction" and "Fantasy" not everything has to make sense.

K. A. had to put it in there.

Think of Animorphs without the blue box.  Nothing would happen.

So I'm being literal and saying that K. A. probably doesn't even have a reason.

Long live literalists! We should start a movement.

Maybe knowing that he may not get to the Time Matrix in time, he brought the cube as a back-up? yeah, uh-huh?

I could come up with a whole bunch of plausible reasons, but it's 3am and I'm kinda tired, so I'm going to stick with KASS (Katherine Applegate Said So!)

Another popular KASS is why Elfangor didn't have time to morph to heal his injuries. Again, we could come up with some good reasons why, but it's mainly because the series would have been screwed up otherwise.

Hey, that kinda logic may work for my parents or Richard, but, well, okay, KA gets that authority too...

I'm satisfied!

We know the Ellimist had something to do with it. MM 4.

What does it mean to be free?

I wonder if anyone would have liked it better if elfangor lived to become a mentor type member of the team. Like Splinter for the Ninja Turtles. Or something like that. He would be there, but the series would still revolve around the Animorphs.

Doubt it, Elfangor would be the prince. There is no way Elfangor would ever follow Jake into one of his half-baked schemes.

But it would've been awesome for Tobias to have a real father.
