hello :)
« on: May 13, 2026, 05:42:32 AM »
Hello everyone !
It's been a while since I've been on a forum like this haha

So, to keep it short, I read animorphs in french as a kid, but only the first ten books because the rest wasn't available at my library. I had an obsession with it as a kid even though i didn't know the rest.

So, now, as an adult, I decided to come back to the serie and see if it's still cool (it seems to be), I'm taking notes on what i like and dislike as i read

my purpose here is mostly to be in touch with other fans, and to see if there are some good fanfic while we're at it

Animorphs will always be cool.

Sorta wild if you actually only started the series as a kid and are coming back to it now. absolute props to that.

And definitely check out the fanfic. There's some good stuff there, like the RAF-award winning title *checks noters* Ax the Prostitute.

I forgot how weird this place was.. Welcome anyway!

Yeah, I read Ax the Prostitute on a dare and really wish I hadn't.  :P

Anyway, hello and welcome!  Oooh, 26 is a good one.  How are you liking it so far?

i saw the summary and huh, i think i'll pass for the moment
i'm not against smut fics but it's not really my thing when the smut is the only point of the fanfic, i still like some plot (especially when there's shipping)

i really like the series so far, i had a lot of surprises since i hadn't read all of the books as a kid. for example, #18 was a slap in the face to me, a real rollercoaster of emotions haha
some books are definitively better than others. i know i'm not original for saying this, but #19 is probably the best so far, and the two worst books so far are the Megamorphs 1 and #11
but my opinion will surely change as i read the rest

but it's kinda crazy to me how tobias and ax don't have as many books as the other members of the group, it kinda feels like they're being left behind, which is sad cause i really like ax

Yeah, I liked #18, definitely intense though.  #19, solid choice!

#11 isn't really popular and I understand why, but MM#1 is a surprising choice for least favorite.  Do you just hate that Marco hates trash cans, is that your problem?  Do you just hate Marco hating trash cans??  (Sorry, couldn't resist)

Yeah, as a Tobias/Ax fan, that bummed me out, too.

Well, I don't really like the whole amnesia plot going on with Rachel. In general, i'm not a fan of amnesia plots, and here it really feels like it's because the authors wanted her to be away from the main plot.

also, yeah, i'm not a fan of marco's characterization in this book ! infiltrating the party with his morph powers feels out of character for him, since in the books before he was the one being careful with morphing, sometimes being the one less motivated to morph. i mean, until MM1, if i remember well, the only time marco ever morph outside of missions is in #5, at the start, because he sees an old man being attacked and he wants to help. the start of the book kinda needs him to be more immature than usual for it to work

but that doesn't mean that everything is bad in this book. i like the plot with the veleek, i like that we get to see a bit of yeerks's internal tension (with chapman talking with his peers)... and of course marco hating trash cans was really funny to read. but to me it's about balance between what's good and bad, and the two points i mentioned earlier are just too much for me to appreciate the whole

but since i haven't read every book yet, my opinion might change

which book do you like the most on your part ?
