Melissa Again
« on: January 17, 2009, 02:58:44 PM »
Okay, I was thinking about this. Melissa should be an animorph and it really makes sense. Think about it, Chapman keeps showing up in the story, he's a main character in TAC. David got to be an animorph because his parents were controllers and because he had no where else to go. He didn't even want to fight the Yeerks. Melissa would have, as seen in MM3. Also, if the animorphs had memories of that alternate timeline and knew that Melissa was an animorph and good at it, why didn't they bring her on afterwords? It just doesn't make sense.

Oh, was that Melissa Chapman who was that Melissa in MM3? Cool.

Anyway, the idea of a third girl in the Animorphs would've been very cool. Maybe she would've been the one to go with Marco? lol

It would have been good to do something with her. Maybe originally she was going to be in the group. I heard that in the original brainstorming, Jake was going to be an older brother, and he and his younger brother would both be animorphs. So Mellissa would be the one with immediate relatives being controllers.

making Mellisa an Animorphs would've been awesome. I think they should've done tht in the book where they rescued their parents. they could've rescued her too

What's this Melissa obsession?

In that alternative timeline, Melissa was a slave and not an Animorph. Way too dangerous to trust Melissa with their secrets and let two suspicious controllers finding out the truth. Rachel would never invite her friend into such a nightmare.
This great evil - where's it come from?
How'd it steal into the world?
What seed, what root did it grow from?
Who's doing this?
Who's killing us, robbing us of life and light, mocking us with the sight of what we mighta known?
Does our ruin benefit the earth, aid the grass to grow and the sun to shine?  Is this darkness in you, too?  Have you passed through this night?

Mellissa wasn't the slave, was she? I forget, but there was a sixth member that replaced Rachel. Since she didn't know her place as a woman, Rachel needed special teachings. Can't have any female uprisings, can we men?

I think I remember the Ellimist saying in one of the books that Melissa replaced Rachel in alternative time line.... or was that in a fanfic? -_-

Regardless, I think Melissa would of made a good Animorph. Of course, it might of been a little dangerous since both her parents were controllers. Hmmm.

wouldn't that make her less suspicious? She could come and go at sharing meetings as she liked.

Yes she could have gone into Sharing meetings to spy, until she was forcibly infested and then the whole team is screwed.  ::)

The Animorphs would never have made Melissa an Animorphs by choice. It was too great a security risk and Rachel especially would never want her friend to go through that nightmare.

What I would have liked to see is a book where Melissa somehow finds out about the Yeerks on her own by eavesdropping on her parents (or maybe Visser Three finally insists on her being infested) and so she could end up joining the Animorphs that way.

She wouldn't have been infested at a sharing meeting because Chapman ran it. The agreement was that she wasn't going to be infested.

Yeah, because we can always trust Yeerks to keep their word...

Besides, if Melissa did find out about the Yeerks then they would have no choice but to infest her. And that happening might force Chapman's Yeerk to become part of the Yeerk peace movement and getting the Animorphs to save Melissa. I sense a fanfic in the making!  ;)
