"She's gone," Trey says, a little too gruffly, "It doesn't matter if she'd support me. But to answer your question, yes. There are plenty of people who think what is happening is unjust. The nothlits, for one. Many of them saw it as a way to gain freedom, but now they're realizing that they wrote off their race. I don't know if they think it was sincerely wrong or they're just guilty. The kids, though, the grubs? We know it is wrong. We never infested anyone, or tried to take over a planet. Yet we're punished for it every day."

"Never underestimate the power of young people like yourself," says Corliss.  "Perhaps they can help you.  The stronger they are in their conviction, the better, although you will eventually need connections with real pull.  There must be integrated adult nothlits who agree with your cause, so seek them out.  Set up as much of a network as you can before pulling the plug, because you may very well need to remove yourself from the planet.  It quickly becomes far too dangerous for people who are fighting against a great power to live amongst it."

~Keiko~
Keiko sat next to the group with Temrash and she ordered up a drink. She sipped it slowly as she tried to figure things out.

"And you must have patience over the long-term," Elayne nodded in agreement with Corliss, "but a good sense of when to act, too. You'll develop that as you go. And spread your resources as thin as you safely can; if you are found out, you don't want the entire movement to be crushed like a nest of ****roaches."

(Yeah, Andromeda, Morgan and Gaz are all at one table. They're feeling pretty angry/bitter, except Andromeda. Fletcher's at the bar feeling sorry for himself. lol)

Fletcher was still sitting at the bar on his own. He sighed, then took a sip of his rum.

"There has to be something I can do," he muttered. "Something to show them..."

Fletcher gave a sideways glance at the rest of the crew. He could see Andromeda talking to Morgan, trying to soothe him. He could tell that Morgan still felt betrayed, and Fletcher didn't blame him in the least. Gaz was at the table still, but was silent. She looked sullen, and why shouldn't she? Fletcher was all the family she had left, and he had lied to her.

Temrash was at the same table as Gaz and Morgan, sipping on his drink. They were down, and he knew why, but he probably shouldn't butt in. He caught Fletcher glancing at their table looking guilty. Maybe there was a way he could help, and hopefully it wouldn't hurt to try. He got up once again, taking his drink, and walked over to Fletcher.

"Hey. You're looking pretty glum. I know this can't be easy for you or your friends, but hopefully you'll all get over this rough patch. One thing you might do is give Morgan and the others a gift. Maybe go out and get something that they would be interested in, and offer it as a peace offering. I believe you don't have a ship of your own, but I could help in that regard. I could grab a few things out and loan it to you."

"So," says Corliss, "feeling overwhelmed, yet?"  He smiles a little.  "Don't worry.  No one ever said it was going to be easy, but the hardest part is convincing yourself it's going to be the right thing to do.  You just need support, that's all."

"No, I'm not overwhelmed," Trey lies, looking very much overwhelmed. "I just...need some time to think. And to go through my dad's stuff." He looks at Elayne, "Maybe I could start doing some work from here. Would there be a way to get information home? Pamphlets and whatnot? It might be easier if I start while I'm not actually on Earth."

Elayne nodded. "I imagine so. I was still able to pull up some information from my time on my ship's computer. Surely information can be disseminated from here just as easily." She grinned and added with an inclination of her head towards Corliss, "You have some invaluable resources here too. My rebellion did not end well, but Corliss's is going strong. And when Myitt gets back, you should talk with her. I bet she'd like you."

Elayne looked to Corliss with a raised eyebrow. "Speaking of, have you heard from her yet?"

((remember, Thordon can right Trey's ship. he lowered Salem's ship right in front of the bar, so they should've seen it.))

Parker relaxed while listening to Silver's conversation. "To-Salem" seemed to be some type of scavenger, Parker didn't have much opinion about them, but he didn't disrespect them. They were survivors after all. He decided to stay out of the conversation as he had nothing to spare, nor would he want to give anything he owned to some stranger that wouldn't tell him his name.

Thordon was sitting at the bar enjoying his water when he overheard that ssomeone's ship was overturned. He perked up slightly and turned to the group speaking. He could tell their conversation had taken another turn, so he continued to sit and hoped they would ask for his assistance.

The Director took Corliss's cold shouldered response as a hint that Terenia had become a sore subject. He downed the rest of his drink and exited the bar. He strolled up to Terenia's ship and knocked on its hull.

Corliss laughs.  "Going strong for now, mate.  And no, I haven't heard from her, no response outgoing or incoming.  It really isn't like her."  He shrugs and looks down at his hands.  "I'm sure they're all right.  Temrash did have some sort of vague report about an Andalite ship escaping the Yeerk forces in orbit, but who knows what that could've been.  The Andalite guerrillas on Earth could very well have a working ship."

He glances up at Trey with a smile.  "Yes, if she does make it here in one piece, reckon she'll like you.  You remind me of her when she was young: Determined and confused and brave."

"She'll be fine," Elayne murmured to Corliss. "I only spent a few hours--or maybe it was days... who can tell with this place?--with her, but it's clear she can take care of herself. And besides, Ossanlin's there. I hear very respectable things about him," she winked to Mar. "Besides," she added, looking back at Corliss, "we know they're at least going to be successful in stopping Sukhon: my timeline seems to have righted itself."

"I suppose that's an idea," said Fletcher, "I've been sending messages to Cortex. He's good at getting a hold on difficult to find items. Trying to remember if there's anything Gaz or Morgan have been wanting."

Fletcher checked his pad again and set it down, his hand going back to his drink.

"Honestly," he said, "I don't blame them for how they feel. If I were in their shoes, I'd feel the same way. It just....it seemed like the right thing to do at the time. Keeping the information from them. I thought that I was keeping them safe or something."

Temrash sat down and had his glass refilled.

"I've had a lot of people working for me, and I know how it feels to find out someone hasn't been completely truthful to you. It could take a long time before they ever gain complete trust in you again, if that happens at all. The best thing to do is compromise and be patient. If you ever do something for them, just do it exactly how they want it done. They'll ask questions at times, even repeating the same question each mission, but just follow orders and never lie. It will be hard, but that's what you have to do if you want to stick with them. Now if you wanted to go independent, that's another thing."

((Trey probably heard the ship get set down, but he wasn't paying enough attention to realize that's what was going on. You're welcome to have Thordon offer his assistance though. :) ))

Trey blushes when Corliss calls him 'brave', but quickly covers the less-than-masculine reaction with a cough, looking down at the table. "Um...thanks," he says when he comes up for air, the tips of his ears still a bit pink. "Who is this Myitt person anyway?"

--

Terenia had fallen into a sort of daze, staring at the ship readings and waiting for them to blip to life, marking the return of The Mirage, when there was a sudden rap at the hull.

"Computer, identify," Terenia says quickly. A second later a holographic, miniaturized version of the view outside is projected, showing The Director standing outside her ship. Her stomach falls, and Terenia realizes that she was very much hoping it would be Corliss returning.

"Open hatch," she mutters, "return to prior scanning." The computer complies, and the hatch shudders slightly as it opens and the ramp extends. The holographic display returns to its previous readouts. Terenia remains where she is, holding her knees and staring at the display.
