Trey continues to look a bit uncomfortable, although his sense of unease lessens somewhat at Elayne's reassurances. He nods, trying to look as though any of this makes sense to him and puts the glass of water back to his lips, drinking deeply. As he does so he notices his blood-caked hands for the first time and looks down at himself.

"I think," he says, noting how filthy he looks, "I should go clean up a little. Are there bathrooms here?"

-------------------

Terenia finishes her drink and pushes the empty glass away from her with a frown on her face. She spins in her barstool to survey the bar, but it is still mostly empty. Only that new guy, and Keshin has not returned yet. It strikes Terenia that the only time anyone has spoken to her during her stay was when they wanted something out of her. No casual conversation for the psycho.

"Can someone clean that corpse up?" Terenia finally asks to no one specific, although she does give the bartender a sideways glare, "it stinks."

Elayne nodded to Trey and pointed to the door in the back. "There are at least some bathrooms back there. I'm not sure what else; the hall goes on farther than I've ever been."

When she stepped back from the table to give Trey space to get down, it put her closer to Terenia, which enabled to hear her questions quite plainly. Elayne swiveled her head to look at Terenia, her dark eyebrows bunching a little. "Have a heart," she said quietly. "He's the kid's father. I'm going to bury him soon; want to help?" She doubted she did; Terenia appeared to be in a particularly irritable mood, but with what little she had seen of her, it was hard to know what was irritation and what was baseline grumpiness.

((Yeah, but after what happened earlier I can't imagine Mar going near Thordon even with a ten foot pole. Well, unless he was starving to death. And that isn't the case due to vulnerable little Elayne and even more messed-up Terenia being right next to him. XD A power boost might be an option...as long as it were somewhat indirect, as with Ossanlin merely contributing to the same "portal". If someone as peaceful and sane as Thordon tried to boost Mar directly...the energy would probably....set him on fire. Or he'd try to swallow the source. <___< >__>  Oh, and I'm going to bring Kess and Joanne back after the next post round. Joanne can't leave the ship while Keshin's in it alone, which creates problems. So I'll speed things up?? Added: Yeah Chad, but Mar wouldn't dwell as much on bodies as most people would, especially not in a thrown-together form like this one. He's concerned mainly with the person leaving. ))

Mar lays back in his seat idly. He hears something about Elayne wanting to bury the dead boy and can't help but wonder why. Elayne doesn't even believe in any form of resurrection or religion. Although he has to admit that burying it would make the spread of nutrients far more effective, this asteroid isn't the best place to do it. He has no idea what makes things grow here, or why they can even breathe on it.

Mar then wanders towards Terenia and Elayne standing together and instantly breaks into a disturbing fanged grin for some reason. "Talking to the freak, are you sweet Elayne? Mmm...I suppose burying the boy's father is admirable but I can't see why an atheist would want to do so. Though the boy is quite shellshocked from what he experienced." Mar then frowns, an odd thought occurring to him. "...the wounds on his father do not suggest a ship crash. There's something we're missing about what happened to the child. Perhaps he doesn't remember what happened?"

(Um, an athiest would bury the body so it doesn't stink up the place and so no one wanders in on a rotting corpse.)

Belzar had taken to aimlessly wandering around the inside of the bar. Only one person could understnd him, and she seemed to have an invisible forcefield around herself. He wondered what the denizens of the bar did to isolate her so much, and why she did not simply leave. He decided asking might help, and if she brushed him off so be it. He walked over to her.

"You seem unhappy here. Are you unable to leave here as I am?"

Elayne looked up to Mar as he joined them and was surprised to find her skin crawling at his smile. His words break through the uneasiness she felt, and she nodded. "You're right, they don't." She looked over to the body and frowned. "That, or maybe he's not telling us everything."

She turned her eyes back on Mar and murmured, "There's no religious reason for it, but it's a courtesy to the kid and to the Bar patrons. I wouldn't have wanted my dad's body to lie around unattended. Anyway," she sighed, "should we go question Trey before I bury his father?"

Out of the corner of her vision, she saw the robot approaching them again, and she stepped back to allow him closer to the group.

((Haha, did Thordon scare Mar; or he just too "good" for Mar to deal with him? ;D Teach, is Terenia in human morph?))

The man enters the bar and notices the dead body on the floor. He gives the body an interested, but apathetic glance. He glances around at the inhabitants of the bar. Looking all around, even in the rafters, he notices some odd lifeforms. A confused, concerned look comes over his face. He steps up to the bar next to a patron with four arms who seems to be sleeping and motions to the barkeep.

The bartender approaches him with wary eyes and gives the man and acknowledging nod to indicate he was ready to take his order. The man reaches into his pocket, removes an ID wallet and flashes it to the bartender as he says, "I'll have a lager." His voice rings about mid-range, not deep, but not high pitched either. He has a Northern English accent and there's a hint of gravel to his voice.

The bartender places a mug of beer in front of the man and walks away drying another glass. While taking a drink, he looks over at a small congregation of people and a robot. One has blood one his hands, must be the victor. He nods to the dead body as he asks aloud, "Wot's 'is story?" He nods to the man with the bloodied hands, "Get inna tussle, have ya?" He looks around the bar again, "Wot sorta place is this anyhow? This certainly dosn't look like Cardiff ta me. Mosta accidentally slipped through the rift. I normally have better aim at landing in that area."

((XD You could call it both, Spartan. Thordon's "good" enough (as demonstrated by the very very bright light being incident) that he kind of freaks out Mar. Especially since Mar is in no shape to deal with him. :P God, I'd almost feel bad for him if he wasn't a complete dick when in a position to be confident. And I can't decide when to bring Joanne and Keshin back in. This doesn't seem like a long enough period of time. Suggestions?))

Mar nods calmly. "That is perhaps the best idea. If something other than what Trey has suggested occurred in that ship, then he cannot be left unattended. We know nothing whatsoever about this idiot other that what he has said about where he is from."

Mar notes the odd man coming into the Bar with some confusion. He is not a Highest exactly, but he seems to be a higher-level entity than the ordinary mortals who are normally patrons here. Perhaps something on the level of the Light-side...irritant sitting in trance on that chair. What he is suggesting however is incorrect. Mar raises his hand. "Hold on, Elayne. I am going to see who this is."

Mar nervously wanders toward the new person, mainly because that Thordon creature is right next to him. He states as clearly as he can, "The dead man is the father of the boy with blood on his hands. I doubt he would kill him, although I cannot be completely sure. That is not what he says happened. As for where you are...this is the Space Bar. It's..." Mar pauses as he tries to think of how you would describe the Bar. "...a place where universes converge. I take it from what you said that you missed your destination. I...would think it necessary to say to a creature of your level that I mean neither you or anyone else in the Bar harm at this moment in Time. Though I dislike a number of the patrons."

"Space bar, huh? Yeah, you c'n definitely say universes converge here." The man looks around some more with a semi-scared look. "This place is wrong, just wrong. Fantastic, mind you, but still... wrong." He slaps a hand on the bar and gives a wide smile, "Still, here I am, and nothin' I c'n do about that eh?" He takes a swig of his beer and gives a big satisfied sigh, "As for your intentions, I couldn't give a rat's end, Just as long as you don't mean me any harm. Wot's with the robot any way? Chirpin' away like that. I bet that gets old fast."

((Yeah, Terenia's human right now))

Trey nods in thanks to Elayne and begins to make his way back towards the bathrooms just as the newcomer, a strange British-sounding man, asks about his dead father. That makes Trey double his pace, as he does not feel much like discussing the topic further.

---

Terenia inhales sharply at Mar's 'freak' stab, her lips setting into a thin line of irritation. She is about to say something stinging in return when Belzar sidles up to the group and mentions that she looks unhappy.

"Understatement of the year," she mutters, running a hand through her hair. She knows he can't understand her, but she doesn't seem to care. Instead, she squirms uncomfortably as the suddenly growing group of people surrounding her start to feel claustrophobic.

"You know what?" Terenia says to Elayne, her words surprising even herself, "I would love to help you bury the stiff. Let's do that."

As an afterthought she gestures to Belzar, making a digging motion with her hands and pointing at the dead body as a sort of invitation for him to join them.

Belzar takes Terenia's cue and goes to pick up the body to help them out. She was using vocal speech like the others, so he didn't understand what she said. He was afraid the other Human must be dead, as no one had paid any attention to him and he had remained motionless the whole time. Because of this, Belzar wasn't quite as careful as he had been with Trey. He wasn't rough enough to pull the man's limbs apart, though.

Red lights illuminate the bar windows as a Bug fighter parks as close to the front of the building as its pilot is willing to hazard.

Corliss steps out of the ship and seals it up, cloaking it for good measure.  He looks irritably down at his personal communicator, then walks towards the bar.

He puts the link away and pushes the splintery old door open, sidestepping in and taking in the surroundings.

Firstly, there's an awful lot of blood--not a real surprise, but he does stop short and stare down at the dead man's lacerated body.  He covers his mouth and hurries to the bar counter, taking a seat.

"Jesus, mate, don't be sick 'ere," he murmurs to himself.  "Barkeep, water please, clean."  He notices with some distaste that Mar is still here, chatting away with a human-looking man.  The human girl Elayne, standing near a table where a patched up young man sits, as well as that inexplicable case of multiple nothlit-ism, Terenia, sitting very close to him at the bar.  There is some sort of hulking robot creature, and a couple of others dozing at the counter.  No sign of Keshin, but Corliss had noticed his ship's signal in the local scans, so the bastard was around here, someplace.

<Maybe they've just died, an' left their ship, like,> says Michael.

<Yeah, maybe.  Maybe we should've played the lotto.>

He sips his water and leans over to Terenia, who looks just as cheerful as ever.  She's speaking to Elayne, but he has no qualms whatsoever with butting in, given the urgency he feels.

"My brother left here last night to help your sister," he says bluntly.  "Has Myitt contacted you?  I 'aven't heard a word.  No answer.  Nothing."

Terenia swivels around to look at Corliss in surprise. She hadn't even noticed him walk in. Upon seeing Michael Terenia feels the tenseness in her face soften for the first time in what feels like ages.

"Corliss, hey," she says with a grin. Her good mood doesn't last long, though, as the first thing out of his mouth is a question about the stupid mission that has her stuck here, "no one on that ship is out to help my sister, so I don't know why people keep saying that. But no, I haven't heard anything from Myitt. The Yeerk that controls my sister contacted me, though, and basically reinforced Ossanlin's orders that if I leave this bar I'm toast."

Corliss watches her for a few seconds, looking concerned.  Then he nods.  "It could 'ave something to do with communications interference within Ossanlin's ship.  That thing is loaded up with more comms buffers and security features than a bleeding Pool Ship.  But I haven't 'eard from her in a couple of days, so I reckoned I'd stop 'ere."  He glances around the room again, as if somehow Ossanlin and Myitt and crew would pop up out of a dust bin.  "It's not like Myitt to stay completely out of touch."

He turns his attention back to Terenia.  "Did the git that's walking around in your sister's 'ead give word that he was going through with this mad idea?  Or did he tell you just to park your arse here or else you get the laser?  Christ, everybody gets up into everybody else's business in this place.  Even Ossanlin, whom I trust and I reckon we're sort of mates, he goes round like 'e's Lancelot, swords and all."  He shakes his head.  "I swear, if he's dragged my sibling into something deadly and stupid, for no reason, I'll 'ave words for'im.  More than ****ing words."  He glares at the bar counter.  "D'you want a drink, then?"

"You're offering?" Terenia raises her eyebrows, surprised, "sure. Whiskey and sour."

She leans back then, crossing her arms and regarding Corliss with an appraising look, "you know, maybe I'm biased. In fact, no, I know I'm biased, but I don't think I'm too far off in saying that this whole mission is more about Ossanlin helping Ossanlin than my sister or the rebels or anything else. Look, I know everyone thinks I'm crazy, and maybe I am. I guess must be, for spending half a decade trying to get through to that sister of mine, but I reckon that Mr. Hot-shot Andalite doesn't care too much about that. He just cares that she's the vessel of a Sub-Visser. Hell, even if he did care for my sister's well-being, she's voluntary. He isn't doing her a favor by freeing her."

She fixes Corliss with a sideways smile, "and yeah, the Sub-Visser took the bait. At least it seems that way, which is why he's so keen on me sticking around here."

Corliss taps on the bar counter.  "Barkeep, whiskey sour for the lady.  Erh.  Ladies.  I'll stick with the water, thanks."

He leans on the bar and swings a uniformed leg back and forth, making little circles with his booted foot.  "I really do trust Ossanlin, as long as Myitt does.  But he is an Andalite, and they've never been too lenient with the 'no involuntary infestation' rule.  Hell, even the rebellion, which along with the Peace Movement was founded on that very principle, accepts that some creatures simply want to be voluntary and continue to serve the Empire.  They wouldn't 'ave got half the Taxxons they did, when they did, if it weren't true.  And like as not there are plenty of humans who feel just like your sister, we make no illusion about that either."  He half-shrugs.  "Sometimes people are so caught up in idealistic values of 'freedom'--" He makes finger quotes.  "--that they don't quite understand some people don't want to be free.  That's a very human desire, for all the values of freedom they propose; some humans simply want an easy way to solve their problems.  Of course, that's what The Sharing really feeds on.  I reckon it's easier for someone with more experience around humans to understand."  He sips his water, taking out his comm link and turning it over in his free hand.  "Anyway.  Enough rambling.  I'm just glad the Sub-Visser seems to be following through, and I wish Myitt would bloody well answer."
