“That is fair trade and I will tell you. I was hired to find a species called.” Lucan pauses for a moment and touches his right hand to his visor briefly. He lowers his hand and continues. “The species is called Tax-on. My mission is to go to the home planet of the Tax-on and locate something referred to as the Living Hive.”

He again paused, but he had agreed to tell the truth. “My mission is to destroy the Living Hive and all Tax-ons there. I promise that if you take me to the planet you will not need to assist me further. If you agree you will receive 50% of the total payment.”

Priton smiled briefly. "Tax-ons, huh? I don't think I've ever heard of Tax-ons." He was trying not to laugh.

<Be nice.> Genie paused. <What's the "living hive"?>

<You're not going to like it, trust me.> He frowned. "I'm not sure Genie will like the idea, on principle."

<Now you have to tell me. What's going on?>

Priton cleared his throat. "Also, see, destroying the Living Hive might be beneficial to some people who I'd rather not help out."

Now Lucan was confused and that unsettled him. He sat back down as he realized that below the surface the web was much more intricate.

“The enemy of the Tax-ons and the Living Hive is the enemy of you.” He said in a shocked voice as his spots turned silver. “The ally’s enemy is another ally. The Tax-on and Living Hive are your allies, aren’t they?”

(I think instead of creating a new character, I'll bring Belzar back. never got to use him. I'll just restart his entrance.)

Outside the bar, near where Keshin and Terenia are, a portal opens up. Out of the portal falls a pile of damaged robots of various shapes around the size of a Human. Oil leeks onto the ground, and different parts scatter amongst the grass. Out of the pile climbes one injured but mostly complete robot. His upper half is humanoid, with two arms. His head is round, and he has a visor like slot for eyes that flickers between orange and red. his bottom half is insect-like, with four legs spread out like a bug's would be. It's obvious he's injured, but he stumbles forward looking for signs of life.

"Not exactly my allies. We simply have a common enemy." Priton shrugged. "I have no contact with them. They're..." He paused. "We have a common interest."

<Well?> Genie was getting progressively more annoyed with him.

<They're rebels. Not controllers.>

<Oh.> Genie considered that for a moment. <That's kind of a problem.>

<Yes.> He drummed his fingers on the bar, considering Lucan. "I would rather not help these enemies of mine. And also..." he grimaced. "As I said, Genie has a certain sympathy for them."

Lucan processed this new information quickly and came up with a solution that would benefit both. “If my mission will assist your enemies then I will no longer pursue it. Instead I will help you eliminate your enemies.”

He had a feeling that Genie would accept his help, but Priton was another matter. “I will not charge you, but if you desire payment I will provide it.”

Time to take another gamble to see if luck was still on his side.

Priton smiled briefly. "The problem with that is that my enemy isn't exactly one person." He sighed. "Understand, I'm not only thinking of my own safety here."

<Can't hurt anything more than has already been,> Genie said.

"The Taxxons are a species that the Yeerks have taken over. The Taxxons in the Living Hive are rebels--not controlled by my species. They fight the Yeerks. I... am not exactly welcome in the Yeerk empire at the moment. Let's leave it at that." Priton waved his hands. "My 'enemy' is fairly broad."

Joanne runs her hand through her hair, pulling out various tangles. Joanne's hair is fairly short, but she probably hasn't bathed in four or five days. "Yeh. You've really had it rough, kid. Maybe you'll have better luck sometime in the future. My luck ain't great, but least I have Kess. You..." Joanne looks down a bit sadly. "...you haven't got nobody, now that your sis is a voluntary."

Keshin then snaps control back to himself, rolling his eyes. "Sometimes she's almost intolerably sappy. The ships should be getting off the ground any day now. If for some reason there's a delay.." Keshin points off towards a more shadowy area behind a rock outcropping. "...you can demorph over there."

Mar's voice gets a peculiar, silky tone to it. You could compare it to the purring of a cat. He then lightly strokes Elayne's hair. "No no, milady. For it is you who have done me a great service. You have been kind to me though you know what I am, and you have suffered many indignities as a result of your mistake."

Mar shakes his head. "What you did was foolish, but you may have been drunk. I would hope that you have learned to never reveal details about the future in the past, especially if they seem to interest someone."

Elayne's eyes slid closed as Mar stroked her hair; something about his tone of voice both soothed her and gave her a sense of pride she could not quite justify. When her eyes opened again, she gave him a warm smile. "Yes. I've learned quite a lesson today. I don't know how I'll ever manage to thank Myitt and the others." Standing from her chair, she said apologetically, "I'm not sure what kind of company I'll be for a while. I'm feeling a little weary."

Mar nods, a pleased expression still on his face as he sits beside Elayne. There's something slightly odd about it, but Elayne doesn't seem to mind and so neither does Mar. "My Precious does a rather large number of things for others, though I do not really think she realizes how strong her spirit of generosity is." Mar shakes his head. "I certainly have no such capacity. I have a love of sweet things and people...but little else. Ossanlin is...an exception to this. I was inside his mind, and he in mine."

"As for the weariness...that is to be expected, Elayne. You have experienced and survived much today. You are also very close to a being that saps energy and will." Mar laughs. "A bit foolish of you, that last bit."

Belzar stepped through the trees in search of something to repair himself. He was unfamiliar with this strange terrain, as his homeworld was completely made of machines. No plantlife or animals, as robots need neither. Injured as he was, he was still able to move at a slow but steady pace through the brush. A retractable blade from his arm slashed at whatever was in front of him, and he made a bit of noise as he approached keshin's position.

Keshin jolts up and instinctively grabs at his Dracon upon hearing the noise, although he quickly realizes how utterly pointless that action is. His Dracon's power cells are still missing, and he has not yet gotten onboard to replace them. <****, we're pretty much defenseless if something's coming at us. You're going to have to wing it, Joanne.>

<Hey, we've still got my knife. Let's hope it's just a creepy wild animal or somethin'.>

Keshin then glances around him again and shrugs, turning his head to Terenia in fly morph. "Did you hear that sound too? .....oh who am I kidding. You're a bug for Kandrona's sake."

Belzar finally made it through and saw Keshin. He recognized the Dracon beam as a weapon, and froze in his tracks. though with his current state, keshin might though he just broke down altogether. He did a scan, and found Joanne was a carbon based lifeform with a peculiar detection of radiation coming from her head. He didn't say anything, as he really had never met a lifeform. How would one even communicate with one?

Elayne smirked, scooting over a little to give him space. "Stop telling me what a fool I am already." Her smirk softened into a genuine smile. "Really, I'm just glad there's someone still here in the Bar I consider a friend." Clearly in possession of the other Elayne's memory of Mar being sick, she put her hand on his shoulder and said, "Can I get you anything? How's your stomach feeling now? I am sorry about that."

Mar laughs a bit. His laughter is full of warmth and mirth, though it does have a peculiar sound to it. "You can certainly be very motherly when you want to be, Elayne. I think that all I need is a cold glass of water. To settle my stomach. Even in this body I'm aware of the timeline in the area, though these are only faint echoes in comparison with what I should be seeing. I can't even manipulate it or change my place without the assistance of Ossanlin. But still...it being broken can clearly cause me to stumble about like an idiot in public."

Mar then smiles a small smile. "So you really consider me a friend? ...hmm, suppose I am. I seem to be making more of those then I'm used to. If I knew it was as simple as being mortal and far away from home, I would have tried this a long time ago. Precious and the others are running into problems even here...but I am far, far away from mine. You, her, and Ossanlin are my only concerns."
