Elayne's ears perked as she heard Joanne order a drink nearby, but she was too engrossed in her conversation with Mar to pay her and Keshin any attention. The somewhat sad smile she held while he spoke of what they had in common melted away entirely as he explained what would happen when he left this mortal body. She suspected that Mar, in his true form, would find her own words just as foolish as his own. The knowledge that this conversation would be meaningless to him in the future called up an idiotic desire to beg him to remain mortal--something she immediately dismissed as inane on so many levels, although it took a little effort. Not sure why she had grown to like him so quickly, she gave a slightly forced smile. "Then I will just ignore that little fact, and enjoy this opportunity to talk with you while I can."

"I doubt they would help," Terenia says with a derisive snort, "besides, I haven't the faintest idea how to go about contacting them. If I did, I'm certain Visser Three would have gathered that information from me by now. They have been wreaking havoc on the Visser for months now, and they are good at what they do, which happens to be remaining hidden."

Ossanlin nods.  <You probably won't be able to contact us once back on the ship.  We need to decide upon proper timing.  Feeding the information in this manner means that we need to be very careful.  Tamara's Yeerk will most-likely act upon the information as soon as he can do so without alerting Visser 3.  Otherwise he runs the risk of another Yeerk or even Visser 3 getting his hands on the information.  If we know when Visser 3's going to Earth, we can predict fairly reliably when Zorish will act.  And that's key.>  Ossanlin continues to stare at a vacant view-screen, deep in thought.

"There is a famous human government facility that is rumored to hold alien artifacts," Myitt says thoughtfully, "but I doubt entering such a secure area will heighten our chances of success.  There are a number of human universities, though, with fairly nondescript buildings in which scientific relics are kept."  A grin spreads slowly across her face.  "Of course, there are always street vendors in Roswell."  She shifts her weight, considering.  "I wouldn't want to deal with these Andalite bandits.  If they're anything like most Andalites, they probably won't want to help us--we're mostly Yeerks, and we're plotting to give a fake Escafil device to a lieutenant of Visser Three.  And I haven't the slightest idea of how to get in touch with them, either.  Even the Peace Movement doesn't have a stable form of contacting them, as far as I know.  Nah, I think we should look elsewhere.  So, I'll tell Hadrin that...what, the device is located on Earth?"  She grins again.  "I really kind of like the Roswell idea.  But I'll have to go incognito, if I can risk going at all.  New Mexico is far too close to Imperial hotspots."

Keshin listens quietly to the conversation between the two people, sipping at his orange juice. They seem to have gotten to know each other pretty fast, which Keshin supposes is good for him. But he really has no idea when a convenient time would be to interrupt them. His best bet is to wait it out, and hopefully engage someone else in the Bar. Keshin looks around and scratches his head. <Man, this place is seriously bare. Where'd Myitt go again? The other room? Hope she's okay.>

<What, so that the only one killin' her is us?>

<Oh shut up. We can save that for later.>

Mar nods, a slight smile crossing his face. "I would certainly like that...you've proven to be a fairly reasonable young woman. Hmm...I wonder if..." Mar frowns, as if considering a rather awkward thought. "...when I leave this place, would you even want to see me again? There are a number of ways you can do that, although you would have to be extremely careful. I...know that I would recognize you...but I don't know if our conversation would be considered relevant to me. But it would be worth the effort. I haven't had anyone to speak with personally in such a long time. The last was my sweet Precious...many, many years ago. Though she was literally a different person then."

Elayne could not help but blush again, although the heat in her cheeks was accompanied this time with a sincere smile. "I would be willing to take the risk. Even if the conversation is not relevant to you later, I can't imagine it won't be for me." She tilted her head, her thumb idly rubbing condensation off her empty glass. She was pleased to feel her blush recede, although her smile remained. "So... would you care to explain these methods now, Mar, or would you rather wait?"

((i'ma bring hunter back into this RP... everyone liked him))

Jumping out of Z-Space in the relatively unknown sector of space that is home to the GESB, Hunter steered his Claw-like Gibrook spaceship towards the familiar green planet.

Guiding his ship towards the landing-bay area, he softly landed in between a small patch of trees. Picking up his black leather trenchcoat, pistol holster & .44 magnum revolver, that he has dubbed 'Idiot Magnum'.

Placing the shoulder holster on himself, he took the gun, made sure that it was fully loaded and he then put it in its place in the holster. Pressing a few buttons inside the c0ckpit, the nano-phase window at the front of the ship melted away to allow entry out of the (rather cramped) interior.

Stepping out of the ship, he took in a deep lungful if the crisp, clean air, tossed his trench-coat on, and he walked towards the building known as the GESB.

((Note: I have no idea if Keshin and Joanne have seen Hunter previously, but I'll pretend they haven't. x3 Or at least haven't talked to him. Cause I don't remember it. Somebody warn me if this wasn't the case and I'll edit the post for them once Hunter enters the GESB. ))

Keshin blinks and notes the odd sounds coming from outside the building, breathing a sigh of relief. <It looks like someone's coming in to alleviate our boredom while we wait.>

<Thank the Lord, Kess.>

<No kidding.>

Keshin glances again toward the other room, rolling his eyes and sipping at the orange juice. <I mean, what are they doing in there?>

Mar smiles a bit, rubbing the back of his head. "I can explain it in a simplistic fashion here. The easiest way that it can be done is a summons, which involves a few relatively simple elements. Namely...some sort of drawn division between you and me, a tiny bit of your own blood, and one of my more prominent names. Though it...obviously wouldn't be my Name." Mar glances off slightly at this last statement, as if it embarasses him. He emphasizes the second usage of the word "name" for some reason. "I have...no idea how it would go, given the very non-magical nature of your dimension. But I hear that this kind of thing has worked in other ways in primarily secular dimensions."

Elayne raised an eyebrow as she listened. She had never been one to believe in magic, but here was this new friend (who she was a little surprised to find she already trusted as much as anyone) speaking of it as if it were entirely real. Giving a slow nod, she simply accepted this for the moment and said, "I've certainly never done anything like that before. But I'm willing to try it. If it was successful, would you then have the choice to answer the summons or not?" She noticed the emphasis his inflection gave the second "name," and added, "And... why is that obvious? What is a Name?"

Mar shakes his head back and forth. "If you summoned me correctly, by right one of my avatars would have to answer the summons. It was one of the Rules set in place. Mainly so that there was a consistency to this, and so that I couldn't abuse the system too much. As for what a Name is...when a person is doing magic often, they never give another individual their true Name. This would give that other person great power over them, if they knew what they held. It does not give them the soul, but..." Mar glances off to the side. "...it can complicate matters. It's part of the reason that I am using the name "Mar" within this Bar."

Mar laughs slightly. "....this is utterly mad. Here I am, giving out the way to contact me to a person I don't own and do not seek to control. Not to mention the fact that this person comes from a place where magic of this sort is weak. The longer I stay with this mind, the stronger its pull becomes."

"I only asked," Elayne told him, "because I would feel bad about disturbing you. I know you are busier than I could imagine." Then she laughed with a hopeless head shake. "And don't worry, Mar, I wouldn't know what to do with your Name even if I knew it. Like you said, magic is weak where I come from. Hell, I didn't even believe it existed until you started talking about it so frankly."

She put a hand on his shoulder with a smile. "Even if this is insanity, I truly appreciate it; I want to talk to you again. I like you--or at least this part of you I'm coming to know." A playful grin spread across her face, and she added, "Even given your lace handkerchief." Well, it is endearing, she thought, this time finding herself mostly successful in fighting back the blush that seemed to perpetually be creeping into her cheeks despite any aversion to romance or flirtation she might tell herself she had.

((...it's official. I'm a RAF addict. I've gone over the edge. I can't stop. :P Though I do wish more people would come into the Bar. I guess I'll shut up after this until we get more posts. :)  ))

Mar laughs out as soon as he hears the last comment. "What, really?" Mar then reaches inside his pocket and plays with the lace handkerchief. "...I spent a lot of time in the period when such objects were common among the nobility. I've been darting in and out of various versions of your world often, I suppose. It's good for what I need it to do." Mar then puts it back.

"And honestly you are not disturbing me in the slightest, dear. It's not like I'm not in fifteen other places already. I'm just entirely unaware of them and what they're doing. Honestly it's blissful." Mar turns his head to her with a calm look on his face. "We may as well trade information while we can. What were you doing before the war, if you were alive?"

"Roswell?" Terenia looks confused, "isn't that the place where aliens supposedly landed like, a million years ago or whatever? Like, when my parents were kids?"

She shrugs, "that could work. Obviously the Zorish will not agree to meet someplace too remote, but it shouldn't be anywhere too busy either. We want to eliminate the possibility of enemies overwhelming us."

((lol, join the club, Kelly! ;D Ok, y'all, I'm heading out of town tomorrow morning and, although I'll have limited internet access, I'm not sure when I'll be back home. So I'm gonna be a little slow over the next few days. Thanks for your patience!))

"Don't get me wrong--the handkerchief's great if you're going for the Mr. Darcy look," Elayne grinned, unable to help but laugh. "You do really look like you're about to waltz into a BBC production."

"Before the Yeerk war really began in earnest," she told him, resting her elbows on the bar and watching him, "I was a student and a mechanic-in-training. Afterwards, my father and I didn't have much money since we were constantly fighting lawsuits organizing protesters, so I continued repairing cars on the side. Once human space travel was cheap enough for individuals to be able to afford their own small ships, I began tinkering with those too. I think I could've made a pretty decent living at it if my name hadn't been so politicized that it scared away most customers."
