((Man, life really smacks you in the head. ))

Mar steadily walks towards Kara and puts a hand on her shoulder worriedly. "Are you sure you want to watch the proceedings? I know that you hated this person but fury may complicate what they are doing. I can talk with you outside if you'd like."

Mar then glances at Ardiss and states, "They are what they are: rebels with more concern for their friends than their own species, despite their obvious desire to reform the host-taking process. Unfortunately, they hold you now. I promised that I would attempt to save you from death, and this I honor. If they try to kill you, I will do my best."

"I'm all for sympathy, Ardiss, but let's be blunt here, you have the ability to destroy everything my friends have fought and died for," says Myitt flatly.  "And I cannot allow that to happen.  You cannot be allowed to take a host again, knowing what you know.  I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do about that--you're the one who decided it would be a good idea to usurp my human friend's body just because you were impatient."

<Impatient!? Why shouldn't I have been impatient? You tricked me into leaving my host! My mind was impaired thanks to those awful chemicals. I have been treated like no less than a criminal merely for wandering into the wrong bar. You will not erase my memories. You most certainly will not erase ALL of my memories,> Ardiss intones scathingly, <I can almost understand the necessity of removing vital information, but if you erase all of my memories you may as well kill me. It amounts to the same.>

-------

Kara smiles gratefully at Mar, but shakes her head, "No....I think...I have to watch."

<Unlike my comrades, I do not put the host's feelings before a yeerk. Though I do enjoy seeing host and yeerk getting along, i am a Yeerk first and foremost.> He said within her mind. <Now let's see.> He fast forwarded to the point where Ardiss was in the pool. The scenery got hazy. A dark fog fell over the timeframe between when Tara took her, and when she reentered the pool. Her memory was altered so that she would believe she had never entered Tara, and had been in the pool ever since she first entered. She would believe that she was left inside, while Temrash and Myitt were taken out. One final search was made, then Temrash left.

"There' It is done." He said out loud. He temporarily turned off the computer that would allow Ardiss to hear them. "Those who are inexperienced sometimes believe this procedure is more complicated and risky than it actually is. You may all pretend the new truth that Ardiss never entered Tara's head. As long as Ardiss doesn't go to excruciating lengths to attempt to remember the truth, then she won't." He then turned the computer back on.

"All right, Ardiss. The next step is to find a new host for you. We could try a nonsentient creature that could still be used, and be useful. Or I could find a voluntary host that wouldn't mind switching. Afterwords, you will be liberally monitored to ensure you and the host are really getting along. I will handle that. So, ardis, what would you like to have?"

Ardiss does not respond for a moment. The next step? The next step of what? She is slightly disoriented, but after a moment or two answers Temrash, <I will not enter a nonsentient host. From my experience they lack the proper abilities for me to function. I want my host back.>

"Sorry. We can't allow you to reenter an involuntary host. We will give you a new one, as long as you respect him or her. It would be nice if you and Kara could develop a mutual partnership, but I'm afraid that isn't likely to happen."

<Fine,> Ardiss snaps, obviously irritated and still slightly confused, <Protect her if you will. I will take a voluntary.>

----

Kara watches in sick fascination. Now that Ardiss' memory has apparently been wiped something harsh has re-entered her tone. If any gains had been made in Ardiss' mentality, then it must have been made when she was in Tara, because now she sounds just as cold and uncaring as she did when she was in Kara.

"Good. I'm sorry that this has to inconvenience you, but you're in good hands. I will make some calls. You may use the computer to talk to the others, or to view some other entertainment." Temrash said, and began leaving for his ship. "Stay here, Zoshonell. I have to figure out how to get a host."

"Sure. Sure."

Mar stares at Ardiss' tank oddly and coldly. The icy tone has re-entered her voice, quite unlike the paranoid, honest one of before. Mar's lips curl into a smile. So, frozen again are you? Good. Although progress will be made, it is amusing to watch your loss.

Mar then smiles at Kara. "It's over now, then. They're going to locate a host for her that isn't you, and she will be gone from your life."

Ossanlin continues to smile into Alic's eyes, letting his hands slide down her slender arms to grasp her hands gently.  <If you would like to return, then we will.  But first we should get a drink.>  He lets one of his hands relax from Alic's gently removes his tail, turning to walk to the brook, leading Alic with his remaining hand.  He dips a hoof into the sweet, cool water and drinks gratefully...the first drink he's had since his sparring match.  The events occuring afterward had made him forget thirst and pretty much everything else, but now it returned in full force and he nearly placed both front hooves in the water to drink.

<It may not be alcohol, but it is sweeter than any water I have ever befor tasted and I think you'd like it too.>  He smiles again at Alic, still holding her hand at the edge of the brook.

Alic kept hold of Ossanlin's hand lightly and willingly followed him to the brook. It smelled delicious, and it tasted even better as she dipped a hoof in. It felt cool and refreshing.. She hadn't had water in quite a bit.
<Thank you.> It was all Alic could think to say at the moment. She was so grateful doe Ossanlin. Him just being there, and with her. Something she never dreamed could happen to her. Especially with an andalite like him...

Ossanlin smiles back at Alic again before turning, grasping her hand with his other and breaks into a light trot, something not too strenuous, he had had enough of a workout already.  <Shall we return then?  Perhaps I shall try some of your Jager...though I am unfamiliar with this licorice, whatever it is, and I'm afraid I don't have a human morph.  Something that's never come up I guess.>

He crushes a bit of grass with each light stride, his tail swaying back and forth before twining gently around Alic's tail.  He's content just being near her and enjoying the fresh air again.  <I suppose I should stop for my gear when we get back to the first clearing...>  Ossanlin kept the surprise from his thought as he realized he had just left his priceless possessions laying on the ground in the forest.  But one look at Alic convinces him perhaps he has gained something more precious and he contents himself again with their light pace.  His weapons would still be there, and if they weren't there was only one place they could be.  He decides that he'd much rather spend a few more minutes alone with Alic and worry about other things later.
