Keirdan grabs Kara's hand and smiles. "I'm glad you're un-sad, lady."

Kara's eyes open into slits. It takes her a minute to focus on the little boy, but when she does she smiles in return.

"Me too..." she mumbles through her sleep. It is about that time that she realizes there is another body close to her, one much larger than Keirdan. Uncomfortably close. She squirms slightly, looking over her shoulder....

...and jumps about ten feet in the air when she sees Mar cuddled up to her, like she belongs to him.

"Oh!" she cries, backing up in terror.

"Yes, I'm ready. One we're in orbit, I would appreciate the use of the ship's communicator. There's someone I'd like to talk to that could help me after I get back." He said. "The place we're going to is the moon of a planet inhabited by a rather quirky species of sentiant birds."

"Got it," says Gaz. She goes to the ****pit and sits down. Fletcher takes the other seat up front.

Gaz presses some buttons and says, "And...we're off!"

After entering coordinates, Gaz says, "You're welcome to use the communicator whenever you need it."

"It's right there," says Fletcher, pointing to a console behind his seat.

"So hopefully this will be a nice quiet ride," says Fletcher as he resumes his work on Gaz's computer.

"I'm ready just in case," Gaz says.

"Of course you are," Fletcher replies.

"Let's not jynx it with such discussion." Temrash said as he sat at the communicator. He was hoping for a quick easy ride himself. He booted up the system, and sent out the message.

<Who we calling?>

<Zoshonel. Hopefully he's still in the area.>

<Yay, Zoshnell!>

<Yeah, you two are buddies, aren't you?>

A machine picked up on the other end, and asked for a passcode, since this was an unfamiliar ship. He entered the code, and it was accepted. A reptilian face came on.

"Jagill! Good to see you got away from that hunter. I hoped you would check in earlier."

"Had problems." Jagill said. "Ship destroyed, and new friends are not good friends."

"Not good friends, huh? You need some more help before I leave this sector? How's your other half?"

"I am fine, Zoshonel." Temrash said. "I'm sending some coordinates to you, that I'd like you to go. There you will find a bar that I'd like you to wait at. I will return there in no more than five days with some supplies after my last encounter with the Hunter Asmodee. There are people there that know me, but they don't trust me completely. The feeling is rather mututal, so I'd like you to help me if a future confrontation comes up. I will give you more information after I return. Try not to start any fights that you don't have to, and make sure a Yeerk named Ardiss in a small container stays safe."

"Sure. Sure. But, uh, you said bar? Like, where they sell alchohol and stuff?"

"Yes. You should probably stay away from the strong stuff if you have any at all. You're still kind of young, and I wouldn't want your mother breathing fire down my neck. Literally."

"I am my own independant adult! I don't need my mother. You don't have to worry about her."

"The woman scares me, Zoshonel. And that's not an easy thing to do."

"She scares me too, sometimes. Over and out."

"Over and out."

Mar blinks and backs up rapidly, waving his arms. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry ma'am! I just...I just wanted to comfort you while you slept. Don't be afraid. It's only me."

Mar smiles a bit. "How are you feeling? You seemed exhausted, and I'm certainly glad you got food in your stomach."

Kara continues to stare at Mar, her eyes so wide that the whites can be seen all the way around. She takes another step back.

"I....what were you doing?" she asks, in her low slurred voice. Now that she has eaten and slept some of the alcohol off it is easier to understand her. The only remaining slur comes from lack of practice and the scar cutting into her lip.

"I was hugging you," Mar states quietly. "Don't you remember experiencing anything like that before you were infested, perhaps long ago? I just...wanted to comfort you. Forgive my intrusion."

"Got your message out all right?" Gaz asks as she keeps on eye on the console in front of her.

"I...." Kara hesitates again, something that she seems to do a lot. A byproduct of not talking in fifteen years, surely. When she talks again her voice is a whisper, barely carrying, "I remember my mom hugging me."

"Yes, that will do. My young friend should arrive before me. I just hope he acts well without supervision. Hopefully he'll find a seat and wait patiently, though patience is not a virtue the young find easy to master."Temrash said, as he reclined in the seat.

Mar listens closely and smiles, keeping his distance but trying to appear as kindly as possible. Difficult when your business is in dealing death and laying down punishment, but it could be much worse.

"I think I heard you. So your mother was the last person ever to hug you? That's...sad, dear. Well...for what it's worth you can count on me to be another person who will do so. How exactly did you manage to get infested so young? Did your mother bring you to one of those awful Sharing meetings?"

Kara seems a bit thrown off for a moment. It has been a very, very long time since anyone asked for her story. His interest seems....kind. Genuine. She moves closer to him, almost unconsciously, before whispering a response.

"No. I...my brother was in a bicycle accident. He died. The school counselor told me to go to The Sharing. He told me the people there would help. That they had been through something similar. That they would be my friends," a few tears escape, but Kara's voice stays relatively stable. She continues in her strangely childish way of speaking, "They were, you know. They were the best friends I ever had. Until they tricked me. Until they took me down to the Yeerk Pool and made Gardish come in my head.

(Not sure when the best time to have my other character show up would be. We'd need to time skip a day or so, so it's not like he was up in orbit just then or something.)

Gaz smirked, "I know what you mean. I have a hard time sitting still a lot. That's why this life is so appealing. Get to travel to a lot of places."
