"Hmph." She is obviously disbelieving of most of what he says, disregarding him for a silly foolish drunk. "That would be frustrating, wouldn't it?" She says in a slightly condescending sort of way. The bartender refills her glass and she downs it in one gulp, obviously dissatisfied with the effect the first drink had, and passes it back for another refill.

"Almost as frustrating as being chased to the ends of the galaxy with a hefty bounty on your head." She adds conspiratorially, eying him. Obviously she doesn't see him as the sort to turn her in, or even to care much for anything but his own infatuations.

Mar smirks. "You share the same problem as Temrash, another fool who wandered into this bar. I find you much more interesting than him because you seem more afraid than he is, and fear...interests me."

Mar points to the door leading outside the bar idly. "They're fixing his ship out there. I think my precious should stop worrying about this idiot, but who would listen to someone who has no love of their rebellion?"

Mar purrs again. "Don't worry. I'm more interested in seeing if you need the bounty hunters off your tail than turning you in."

"I'm not afraid." She says quickly, taking another swig of the drink that seems to, at this point, continually refill itself. "And what do you know of bounty hunters? Or their interest in me?" She does a fairly good job of keeping the fear from her voice, although her foot taps noticeably quicker. A gentle warmth begins to settle about her as the alcohol finally begins to take the slightest affect. Not enough, though, as she refills her glass again.

Mar bares his creepy teeth, but mostly because he's grinning. The alcohol's probably getting to him at this point. "What interest they have in you? Hah. I only know what you've told me, which isn't much. I know from experimentation that nothing that would help me know more works in this form. As for what I know of bounty hunters..."

Mar lays his body back against the bar a bit tiredly, although he still seems substantially happier and more approachable than before he started drinking. "I met a turelek here once, and I have met bounty hunters before. A ruthless sort, but I like them. They, unlike rebels, don't even claim to have honor."

"And what is wrong with honor?" She turns slightly, creating a more inviting posture. Despite herself, she is intrigued by this man and the strange things that he says. She sips her next drink carefully, realizing that in twenty minutes or so the three she has already consumed may impair her better judgement, before speaking again. "Isn't honor all that we have?"

“Yes it is rather filthy, but this bar will do fine!” Mael said to Wolffe. “Let us take a seat and enjoy ourselves for a while!” As he said this, he walked over to the nearest booth, took a seat and motioned for Wolffe to take a seat. “Deucalion! Go and get a bottle of the strongest Helghan Whiskey they have, and 3 shot glasses!”

Sitting down at the back of the booth, he lifted off his helmet, placing it on the table in front of him, and started to lift of his gas mask and unbuckle his goggles from his face.

Mar cackles unpleasantly. There's something very off about this guy, whoever he is. "Hah. Honor among terrorists can hardly be called honor. The rebels may function on some kind of code of ethics, and they may truly believe in it. But it all seems to me a desperate attempt to justify what they're doing, and I loathe such justifications. If you're going to kill people, don't try to mask it behind something else. It is what it is."

Mar gestures lightly with his hand. "I take what I will, and unless I am deliberately tricking someone else I make no attempt to justify it. I certainly hope that the cause makes up for the loss of life."

"But isn't what that life is? A series of justifications for actions? I have never taken a life without some sort of reason for doing so - a justification, if you will." She hesitates a moment, taking another sip, "It seems far better than killing without justification. That seems to be merely a sign of insanity."

"It comes with the job that I've landed myself in," states Mar, smiling again at her. "I'd be miserable about it, but I'm rather buzzed. And I suppose pleasure and the movement of my goals counts as a justification, although it is a rather terrible and nasty one, no? And don't worry. I rarely kill without a reason, and I do not trust my own ability here at all."

"So..." he states, sipping his glass. "What brings you to the bar? How did you find out about it?"

"I wandered in, as it seems many people here have." She glances at the motley collection of inhabitants before continuing, "I came here for a rest, which I haven't had in quite some time and I feel is far overdue for me."

She sips her drink steadily, barely noticing that it is nearly empty. She doesn't notice when the bartender refills her. Instead she stares at the stranger full on for the first time, feeling the first bubble of warmth from the alcohol.

"And what job is it that you have that gives you this outlook?" She asks, "In fact, while we're on it, who are you at all? You have yet to give me so much as a name."

Mar purrs a bit, almost wanting to stroke her hair but thinking better of it even while in this state. She wouldn't talk to me then.

"I'm called a lot of things actually, and the name changes depending on where I am. I could give you the names human beings call me, but that would be oh so direct. Call me Mar. It's a name I got by accident, but I'm rather taken with it."

"As for the job..." Mar stares off. "Trust me when I say you wouldn't believe me."

"Wouldn't I?" She asks, doubtfully. "Mar, then. Well, I suppose it is nice to meet you, Mar. I am Kara. At least, that's the name you can call me, anyhow."

She hesitates then, bringing her tumbler to her lips and then hesitating as the alcohol fizzes in a tickling sort of way.

"As for the job," she adds, "Try me."

She takes a hearty gulp and sets the empty glass aside. When the bartender goes to refill it she waves him off, knowing that, for now at least, she has had more than enough...even if her body hasn't reacted to it yet.

Mar laughs a bit. "Well, alright then. The simple version is that it's my job to judge and condemn those dead souls that really didn't do much good during life. Granted they can screw it up roughly six times before they have to deal with me at all, but you can only make the same mistake so many times before someone starts calling you a bad egg. I also guide people to the hereafter after they have died, although I rarely do this bit personally. The entire affair is a pain in the neck, but it's really my own fault."

*Mar then states, "Told you you wouldn't believe me."

Kara blinks at him blankly for a second, before gesturing to the bartender that perhaps she needs another drink after all.

"You're right. I find that hard to believe." She says. She narrows her light brown eyes as they inspect every inch of this strange person, trying desperately to categorize him in some way. She can't come to any decisive conclusion, though, and she wonders if it is due to his oddities or due to the warmness that is beginning to spread throughout her body.

"So what is in store for my soul then?" She asks with a small smile, playing along with the charade.

Mar smirks. "Now why would I know that? I told you...it's my job to condemn certain souls after they have died. You are still alive, and therefore have plenty of time to make of yourself what you will. In a normal case I would be able to get a rough estimate, but I've already told you my current condition makes that impossible."

He then laughs out loud. "I think I like alcohol. I haven't been this oblivious and happy in a very long time."
