((Alright.  Excitement?))

"To be honest, Mar," continues Myitt, still spinning in her chair, gesturing vehemently with her uninjured hand, "it's getting pretty bor--"

Her hand smacks into the weapons control, shooting twin Dracon cannon beams lancing downward in the direction of the hunter's ship.

(Thanks!)

"Oh, by the Kandrona sun..." Temrash said.

"Gafrash! You were just buying time, weren't you!?" The hunter yelled, then pulled something from a belt. He pressed a button, and a hatch opened from his ship that launched an EMP. The purpose is that if it goes off, all electronic equippment in its radius will shut down. "Let's see what you're hiding. This will fry anything it touches, excluding my ship!"

"I admit this was a plan B, but I swear it's a mistake!" Temrash yelled, but he knew it was too late. The bomb was sent flying, and the hunter's weapon was drawn. There was no telling what other things that device would operate.

(I got the EMP idea from the Matrix, where they'd set one off to wreck the enemy machines. You can decide if it works, or if you have a countermeasure for it.)

Gaz chuckled. "Nice to meet you, Keirdan. Sounds like you'll make a fine pirate."

Gaz raises an eyebrow when she hears commotion. She keeps her seat, one hand remains on her drink, but one drifts instinctively down to the gun on her hip.

"So, Keidran," Gaz says, "what do you like to do?"

((Heheh...as long as no sentinels start chasing them... xP))

Myitt's eyes widen, her blood turning to ice.  "Corliss, shut the ship down NOW!" she screeches.

"What?" Corliss cries, having just enough time to begin an emergency descent when--

BZZRRRTTTT-!!

The Skimmer ship flickers, electricity coursing over it, disengaging the cloaking system.  It starts to list, then dive toward the ground, fully visible.

White arcs of energy flash around the navigational and weapons panels, frying out a number of controls.  The discman Corliss had jerry-rigged underneath the controls bursts into sparks.

"Hold on to something!" Corliss yells, bracing himself.

Myitt grips onto the weapons chair with one hand.  Luckily the spindly leglike landing gearwere already deployed, and their descent from the tree line was low and controlled, but the ship was still completely out of power.  Even the auxiliary power was temporarily disabled.

It crashes almost calmly into the forest near the hunter's ship, crashing through a couple of saplings, damaging the shieldless hull and sending furrows of dirt and leaves flying.

Myitt and Corliss are rocked about, Corliss smashing his nose into the control panel.  Blood gushes from beneath his fingers.  Myitt ends up on the floor, howling as she lands on her already badly sliced up arm.

They settle to a stop, smoke tendrils still rising from the controls.

"Urrhghh," Myitt groans, rolling over.

<You okay?> she asks her host.

<Ugh, you idiot, yes, just stop moving.>

Pain stabs through her arm, and her head.  "Corliss?"

"Nhgh?" he replies, coughing raggedly, stepping away from the controls.  His hands are numb from the close call with electric shock, but he has both of them stuck against his bloody nose.  "I'b okay..."

"Me too, I think," she replies, still on the floor, eyes shut tight and watering from the pain.

He steps over and gently helps his sibling up with bloody hands.

"Any other plans, Yeerk?"

"If I had any, I wouldn't look so worried right now. Well, Ossy, it must be your turn next. Trip over something and have your head sliced off? Have another episode of whatever happened to you when you were lying on the bar floor? Slice your throat with your tail blade out of humiliation? If I was still a Visser, and those two worked for me, I'd have them cleaning the bottom of a Taxxon pit. If I was in a good mood, there wouldn't be any Taxxons in the pit at the time."

Myitt looks up blearily, peering through the four big eyelike plexiwindows that are all the ship has while the holographic viewscreens are out of commission.

They're facing the hunter's ship, a few yards ahead of them in a small clearing.

Myitt glances at Corliss.  "You sure you're alright?" she murmurs, sitting down at the weapons, wincing and biting back tears.

Corliss nods.  "I dob't reckob it's broken."

The globular overhead ceiling lights flicker on.  "Think there's enough power left for another shot?"

"Maybe.  Snnnkk..." Corliss hacks, coughing on smoke and blood again.

Myitt grins as the weapons holoscreen weakly flickers back on.  It shuts out again, then flicks back, scrolling warnings about system power in Yeerkish.  "One shot.  Here goes nothing."

In spite of the warnings she aims the little red triangle centered straight ahead at the ship.  Her friends were farther off to the side, and hopefully they would get out of the bloody way, just in case...

The ship sputters, then uses the last of the auxiliary energy to fire two more lancing beams at the hunter's ship.

"Warning.  Ship power levels critical," the computer warns.

"Shut up," Myitt growls, watching.

Hearing the cracking of trees in the forest outside, Shalner stands, up, and grabs Breekan's arm, heading for the door.

Seeing Shalner leaving, Keirdan stands up, and begins to follow.

Shal turns around and glares at Keirdan. She points to the spot he had previously occupied by Gaz, then moves to exit the bar.

Keirdan throws himself back on the chair, and crosses his arms, pouting. "Hmpf. They never let me have any fun. If I become a pirate, can I have fun with you? I can blast the bad guys with my eyes!" He grins up at Gaz.

One more shot lances towards the hunter's ship. A forcefield prevents some damage, but a small explosion can be heard inside the ship. Presumably the generator overloaded, from previous damage. The c0ckpit is damaged, and what would may have been minor repairs became significantly more extensive.

<No accident that time.> Jagill said. Temrash bolts for the skimmer, and manages to get the door open. "WHY!?" He yells at Myitt, ignoring her and Mar's wounds, and the fact that he just ditched Ossy with the now enraged hunter. He glares angrily at Myitt.

"You people have problems." The hunter said through clenched teeth.

((It's her and Corliss in the ship :P))

The unpowered ship doesn't allow Temrash to pry open the hatch, which is really up to the living metal of the ship melting away by computer command, but Myitt can still hear him outside.  She walks over and taps on the hull.

"Computer, emergency protocol, open exterior hatch," says Corliss flatly.  The wall melts open.

"Because that b*stard needs to be grounded," Myitt snaps, glaring right back at Temrash.  "Of course, the first shot was an accident.  I wouldn't leave him alone with Ossanlin, Temrash.  Watch yourself.  Or that bounty hunter won't be the only one we're shooting at."

(My bad. I meant Corliss.)

"We were negoshating." Jagill said, after taking control. Temrash needed a few seconds to figure things out. "I'm sure the guy can handle himself for two seconds." Temrash said. "Just come out of the ship, and stay behind me."

The hunter was beginning to square off. Temrash began approaching him, but staying directly between his allies and the hunter.

"That's what I'm afraid of," Myitt murmurs, stepping out of the ship, checking the power level on her Dracon.

"Listen, bate, we're not exactdy in any shape to fight a bloody bounty hunter," says Corliss, following Myitt outside.

"Oh, really? I hadn't noticed. All this time I was negotiating because I like hearing the sound of my own voice."

<I want to see triblade of doom.>

<You want to see how well and Andalite fights with swords?>

<Yes.>

<Still better help out. If he falls too quickly, we are in deep trouble.>

((Gotta hit the hay.  Have fun! :D))

"Right, let's go then," Myitt snaps, limping along through trees, heading along the few short paces toward the clearing.  Addressing the hunter, she says, "Listen, mister, no hard feelings or anything."

"Really?" Gaz replies. "That's an impressive skill."

Gaz took another sip, half wondering what the commotion had been about.

"Though I should warn you, being a pirate isn't excitement all the time," Gaz explained.
