"Breek, you have the comm link, Ossanlin can always send us a thought speech message for help." Myitt shrugs. "Alright, Corliss, let's go, time's a-wasting." They make their way outside and onto Corliss' weird, crouched Skimmer ship--it looks like a combination praying mantis and lobster, made out of black metal. It's much bigger than the average Bug fighter, too, which makes it even more challenging to fly solo.
"Open exterior hatch," Corliss says matter-of-factly, and the side melts open in the usual living metal way. The two siblings climb aboard, and as the hatch melts closed, the ship flickers and disappears.
"Alright, let's get this puppy off the ground," says Corliss, tapping a number of controls at the main viewscreen.
"You sure you don't want weapons?" Myitt asks, settling behind the weapons station. "You were always a better shot than I was."
"Can you fly this thing?" Corliss asks, glancing sideways at her.
"Sure I can. Might take me a minute. Weapons, I know."
"Uh huh. Stick with the weapons until you've memorized the operations manual," says Corliss wryly.
"Fine, fine."
The cloaked ship lifts off the ground, sending dust flying, leglike landing gear retracting into its invisible crustacean body.
It swiftly hovers over the tree line, and in a few moments they have spotted the hunter's disabled ship. "There's Temrash and Ozzy," says Myitt. "I've got a bead on his ship, but it looks like they're just...talking. Lame." She checks the ship's comm link system, finding the one she left on the bar counter for Breekan.
On the counter inside the bar, the little flat black square chirps. "Hey, Earth to you guys. Can y-chh- hear me?"
