Alic takes one of the many unused cardboard coasters and slid it underneath Mike, then flips the glass over.
<You're worried about your ****ing tail?! Be happy you're not dead.. Yet.> she said snarling.
Alic held the coaster on tightly so that he couldn't force his way out.

The little mouse inside of the glass saw the coaster as a brown blue until it sharpened into focus at mach-speed. He managed to get his tail out from underneath the glass and jumped to get his front feet over and onto the coaster. But his back left foot got caught between the coaster and the glass. He tried to scramble for the bottom of the cup, his toes finding no grip against the smooth surface. For a moment he hung with the glass almost perpendicular, his body upside-down with his toe caught. But his weight finally let him slip from between the two massive objects, landing on his head at the curved-bottom of the glass. His small brown body righted itself and he looked towards Alic's massive eyes with his own tiny blackish-brown, his chest expanding and contracting a million times a second. He looked as if he were about to have a heart-attack, but his little heart had a long ways to go before it would break. He knew now that even if Alic removed the coaster hovering above him like some terrific cork and cardboard demon, he probably wasn't big enough to reach the top of the glass and pull himself out. For now he pressed his front paws to the glass and looked around, seeing only blurred spots for people.

Mar nods calmly, in that headless sort of way. His appearance in the time stream is a far cry from the flamboyant, frilly-looking creature that exists as his mortal form. There's something incredibly off about him, as if he's intersecting multiple locations at once. "Yes, I've done this before. I am more at home here than in other places. Locating where Myitt's stream cut off should not be difficult. Thank you for bringing me in."

His voice is off too. His high, arrogant voice seems to have been replaced with a cold rumbling. Mar drifts between the strands carefully.

"Ahhh, yes. This is where it was/is. You'll notice the connections laid here between my person. These are not possible to sever except with the permission of entities I am no great friend of. Doesn't the death look a bit odd to you? .....you may be right in that someone else's interference is evident. If we can prove there was an intervention, it may take this in an interesting direction. What should we do?"

Noting that the two only other people in the room with the reality-defying chops to help Myitt have evidently blinked out on the case, Breekan turns his attention to Shal. He gets up close, shakes her vigorously and shouts into her ear. "Hey! Hey, sis, wake the **** up!"

"Where'd they go, then?" Corliss demands, gesturing to Mar's empty chair and the spot where Ossanlin had been standing.

"Beats me," says Tara worriedly.  "Why don't you ask her?"  She nods at the ghostly humanoid form of her Yeerk friend.

Myitt stares at the bar counter, flickers, and disappears.  The little nervous system sitting next to Tara vanishes, as well.

"Jesus, where'd she go?" Tara exclaims, startled.

"I dunno, mate, but I hope they know what they're doing," says Corliss.

Tara turns to Breekan anxiously.  "Hey Breekan, where'd they go, man, do you know anything about this?"

---

Myitt reappears, hovering in the non-space of the timestream.  She appears human but only for the benefit of being able to speak.

And give Mar the finger.

"Alright, jackass, I thought I felt the strings of my existence being pulled," she says angrily.  "Will someone just decide whether I'm alive or dead, already?  Honestly, this limbo thing is making me go crazy."  She blinks, pointing at Ossanlin.  "Who are you?"

Breekan glances at Tara and offers a weak shrug. "I think-slash-hope that there's something weird going on with Oss. He's looked... bigger, lately. Not three-dimensionally but... Well, bigger. And he said all sorts of stuff about the time stream, and keeping it maintained and all that." He shifts uncomfortably. "I'm hoping he knows what he's doing, and that he can do it without me. I might be able to help if I Crayak out a little bit... Or I might just devour the planet. Fun times!"

Breekan lays back, continuing to jostle Shal, in hopes she might react. "As far as Mar goes... Well, he's been buying souls or something like that, so it wouldn't surprise me if he's big news somehow. On the other hand, he's also kind of an ****, so that may not be a good thing." Breekan furrows his eyebrows. "How about you, Tara? Are you going to be okay without... I mean, if this doesn't work?"

"Don't devour any planets, alright?  Spoils your dinner."  Tara looks down at the bar.  "Mar's...big news, that's all I know.  I don't know how or why.  I feel like what he really is is something no sane mortal person should ever have to comprehend."  She sighs, biting her lip.  "As for Myitt, well...if this doesn't work out...yeah, it'll suck.  It'll suck big time.  I can't even go back home to Earth anymore, with or without her.  And damnit, I miss her already.  I can't stand that ghosty amnesia astral projection crap."  She shudders.  "Ugh.  But I guess...life goes on."

"It just demolishes me that this was so...wrong, somehow," Corliss says, shaking his head.  "I mean yeah, everybody dies, but not as a result of some kind of interdimensional cosmic setup that didn't even have to 'appen.  Bleeding Christ..."

Shal's eyes open and her mouth stops moving as Breekan jostles her. She stares blankly at him for a moment, she holds up one of her hands, and stares at it, a look of confusion crossing her face. Her body and the glow continue to fade, until there is nothing left.

Laughing silently, Alic lightly shakes the glass. <Now what, mouse? Is another death in order?> She said, laughing sadistically.
A stalk eye turns towards Shal as it seems she has woken up. Then, she was gone. If Alic had a mouth, it would have been wide open due to shock. <Two in one day. This just couldn't get any better.>

Mike could feel the world around him falling apart. The bottom of the glass and the coaster quickly played a game of ping-pong with his mouse body, feeling each hit him like a brick wall. The difference between being big and small wasn't that stuff hurt less, it just took more to kill you. Somehow animals without sentience also seemed to withstand pain a lot more efficiently and in the end this meant he felt like he should be in several different pieces when Alic stopped. He looked around, dizzy but that word was so lacking given his situation. <Stop! Please don't kill me!>

Mike's breathing only seemed to double, his chest moving at an incredible rate. He obviously couldn't keep track of what was going on around him, but he was self-centered and could only imagine them all staring at him and laughing at his situation. He felt the sides of the glass, wondering how his feet and body weren't broken. <I'll do anything!> He said desperately, trying to move his nose because it felt off-center on his face after taking a hit from cork.

((A rodent begging for his life...somehow this seems familiar...xP  And Kelly you could reply to Myitt, who is, you know, flipping your character the bird :P))

"Don't worry," Corliss says to Tara, sitting down next to her.  "You've always got a home at the base, you know."

"Yeah, I know," says Tara sullenly.  "But it's just not the same without that jerk.  Not to mention I get really sick of cabbage and tomato sauce really fast."

"You and me both, love," Corliss says, laughing.  He happens to glance around the room in typical paranoid rebel fashion in time to see Shalner vanish.  He stares at the chair she'd been lying in.  "Steady on, how the 'ell'd she disappear too, then?"

"Shal!" Tara yelps, noticing that she's missing.  "Oh, God, Breekan, where could she have gone..."  She shakes her head.  "This is turning into one f*cked up Agatha Christie novel, right here...Mar, Ozzy, get your asses back here with both of them, damnit!"

[ I have to admit a bit of guilt on my part. I might have played a part in setting up this ironic little scene. Of course Alic is just as guilty hehe  >:D ]

((its funny, I was thinking the same thing.. Gee wonder why its so familiar!  To applix: me?! *blush* never guilty.))

<Your life was saved and my friend died> Alic told Mike. She started pacing, tail high in the air, swiveling back and forth. <So tell me, what makes you so special?>

Alic sets the glass on the bar between everyone sitting there and places an empty pitcher over the glass, just in case.
<This disappearing act is getting old. How come it takes the people who are worth having alive?>
Glaring at Mike, Alic morphs into the human female she likes to be when she needs a drink. Its been a crazy time at the Space Bar, and she was sober for once.
"So, bartender. Before you decide to make me go POOF! I would like a bottle of Jager."
