Corliss laughs pleasantly.  "It's all right, this is all quite extremely new to me as well," he says.  "I expect Mike is the only one of us who has any idea what he's doing."

He looks around the pool room with a sigh.  "Now if only we could figure a way to get a temporary host for you.  I--"

Corliss pauses as the floor of the ship rumbles.  "Huh.  Did you feel that?  I don't think it came from the ship...felt like an explosion of some sort or another.  Hang on, I'm going to run a scan, but I won't go far."

He walks to the computer console in the pool room and starts scanning for high areas of energy output that might indicate an explosive disturbance.

Silver seen Claxter get up and walk over to someone. She went back to staring at her staff wondering why it had jolted. She bit her lip as she held it on one hand and tapped her fingers on the table. When her finger tips zapped again the charge went right through her body and shot from both ends of her staff. One end shot the wall behind her and the other end shot a strike of lightening through the bar aiming for the other end.

Elayne frowns, glancing at Trey with sudden worry. She shouldn't have said anything to Keshin. Even though her timeline seemed to be totally separate from her own, and even though she presumably wasn't conversing with her under false pretenses, who knows what the Imperial would do? Who knows who she'll try to impact?

"I'd advise you to be careful," she cautions her, hoping the warning is strong enough to keep her from aggressively trying to change her past, present, or future. "Don't say too much, and don't talk to anyone from your timeline."

An explosion outside makes the Bar tremble.

"And guard your ship," she adds with a smirk.

Illim looks at the window, trying to peer through the murky glass to see the cause of the explosion. "Yeah, sure. We need to go to my ship to do it, so follow me." Under his breath, he adds, "I need to make sure it still exists, anyway." He gives Derrel a reassuring smile as he stands. "I promise I won't abduct you."

Derrel didn't like the idea of following Illim to his ship, though even if he did something in the bar would the other patrons care? They seemed to care back when one patron tried to kill another in the back hallway. He took the last gulp of his drink to steele his nerves, and followed Illim. It wasn't like he had a whole lot to lose. Besides, it looks like one woman's staff was starting to go haywire, so leaving the room wasn't looking like a bad idea.

Claxter turned back to Silver when he saw the lightning. <We might want to work on controlling that thing, Silver. Especially in a crowded room.>

Illim gives one last furtive glance to the Andalites and Imperial--and now the woman with the strange staff--before walking out the door and towards the ship yard where he left his Madra-class ship. The remnants of whatever it was that had exploded were far enough away from his ship that his worries were alleviated.

"Try not to make too much of a face when you see me for what I am," he tells Derrel conversationally, looking more cheerful now that he is out of the Bar. <And try not too reveal too much,> he cautions Serid. <We want this to work out.>

<You do,> Serid responds primly. <I notice you have not given particularly much notice to what it is I want.>

Illim snorts internally. <That's because you've got no clue what you want, Serid.>

<I would not be so sure if I were you,> his host replies.

It's true: Illim watches the earliest wisp of a plan begin to form in Serid's mind, but there is no purpose yet. No form. No threat.

"Will do." Derrel said as confidently as he could manage. He hoped he could actually trust Illim's host to tell him the truth. Illim might be threatening him, or he might be brainwashed, or he might even be eager enough to be rid of Illim that he'd say whatever he could to get Derrel to trust him. He'd have to watch the guy's body language to try to get the truth out. Not that he was an expert at reading people, but unless the guy was a very good liar he should slip up some way if he lied.

<What's wrong?> Terenia asks, unaware that anything has changed. She swims in her small pool in irritation, frustrated with the limitations of her form. She can't do anything but wait for Corliss to respond.

Efaen gives Claxter a steady look with her main eyes, and for a second she considers brushing him off. Then her expression clears and she offers him a small eye-smile. <You are, of course, forgiven,> she says. <Your actions are understandable. Our time here has not been what I would call peaceful. I apologize if I have offended you as well.>

<It's alright. I still...you know...care about you. I would just hate to see you ever go back to that abomination. I want you to be happy, but I also want you to be safe. You know, I had an adventure recently. I helped save a few people, and didn't run. Well, I did run once, but I ran back after realising my opponent was simply using illusions against me. Anything interesting happen with you?>

"It appears that something large was detonated some ways off into the woods," says Corliss, frowning at the scan.  He shrugs and is about to walk away from the screen when he hesitates, tapping the broad link scan.

He waits impatiently while the computer brings up all detectable technology in the area.  Then he filters the results.

"Terenia," he says worriedly, "is your ship cloaked from scan detection?"

Amy walked into the room where her Yeerk was.  "Goodbye, Taylis, I thought this moment would be happier."

She gave an apologetic look and nodded. She slipped it into a little loop and stood finishing her drink. She paid for her drinks and Claxters and slipped out the back to atsbd in the open area outside the bar. She sighed and then jumped into the trees to run around randomly through the trees to think.

<I will not be returning to the Abomination,> Efaen says, and there is a strange hint of sadness in admitting this. Efaen blinks at the abrupt change in topic. She hesitates for a moment, during which she attracts the bartender's attention and orders a drink. While she waits for it to arrive she answers his question.

<"Interesting" is never too far away in this bar. I suppose you could call the last few hours that. They have been enlightening, if nothing else.> She glances down the bar at Ossanlin before switching to private thought-speak. <<Ossanlin is my Prince now by default, a fact that I am trying to reconcile with his behavior. Tell me, Claxter. Do you truly trust a Captain who allies himself alongside the enemy?>>

<Ah....yes,> Terenia says. <But it's a standard cloaking mechanism. Sub-standard, actually. Should be easy enough to get around if you know where to look. Why? Is something wrong?>

<It is not my place to question a Prince, and much as my last Prince tried to drill into my head I have not grown to hate Yeerks. I know what they have done, but I also realise that Yeerks are individuals. Their government holds them in a tight grip. I consider anyone who attacks me or someone I care about an enemy. anyone who refrains from that would be something else. The rebels are doing the same thing we are doing. Fighting the Empire. That is not to say I'd be happy working directly under a Yeerk with one of them in my head. Why would you call the rebels enemies? Do you not think Yeerks can think for themselves?>

Temrash sat in his chair, sending messages and getting things ready for amy. Hopefully she would be able to help the Humans fend off Visser Three. Who knows?

"Hrm," Corliss replies, trying to crack through a number of other Yeerk fighter codes.  "It's just...odd.  I thought I had your ship's signal pinned down in here, along with the other Yeerk ships.  It's a precautionary thing, really, it picks up on everything detectable as soon as it lands and sends me the updates.  The exact coordinates can be a little hazy, but..."

He swipes a hand along the air and brings up another screen.  "Funny thing is, I can't seem to find your ship anywhere.  Maybe your cloak is better than you think, or maybe this piece of junk isn't working properly."  He gives the under panel a half-hearted kick with his boot.  "It does look like there was an explosion somewhere nearby, a pretty good one, too."

Corliss shrugs helplessly.  "Might be another bar fight gone wrong.  I wouldn't worry about it, really.  Just thought I'd check and make sure we weren't getting shot at, or bombed, or the usual sort of fun."

<I thought this moment would be sadder,> Taylis confessed.  <Yet I find myself very happy to leave the host that I knew to find peace.>
Amy understood what Taylis was saying but wondered how out of the fight Taylis really was.  "Do you remember the woman that you gave my nail clippers to?"
<The freak?> Taylis said.  <How could I forget?>
"Her host has a boyfriend," said Amy.  "He wants the real Fiona back."
Taylis didn't answer at first.  She knew what Amy was trying to do by bringing this up.  There were other people that were still fighting for there loved ones and she was selfishly leaving them to fend for themselves.
