Terenia takes an internal breath, mentally preparing herself.
<Yes, I'd like to. I know that you will know everything that Mike says, but I think he'll still speak freer if you aren't there.> There is an implied apology in her words. She feels guilty, like she saying that she does not trust Corliss.
Efaen finishes her work and opens a new task on the computer.
<Computer, set self-destruct sequence,> she orders. The computer beeps in compliance, asking for a verification code. After a moments hesitation she dictates a series of Yeerk numbers and letters.
"Self-destruct will begin in five minutes," the computer warns. Efaen reaches into a lower compartment, pulling out a spare holster and Dracon Beam. Securing the holster around her waist she scans the room for anything of value. Terenia's spare Kandrona supplies are sticking out of a hastily closed drawer. A portable Yeerk Pool is folded up in the corner. Tacked to the wall is an oddity; an outdated Earth calendar that is showing the month of August. Seeing nothing of worth, Efaen strides down the ramp, closing it behind her.
She ticks off the minutes in her mind, putting as much distance between herself and the ship as possible before it destroys itself.
