Trey holds out the disk so that Elayne can examine it. It is small and looks almost exactly like those Compact Discs that were popular in the 1990's, only miniaturized. It is a shiny silver color that refracts light easily, and it has a small pinprick of a hole in the center. All together it is about the thickness, size and weight of an American nickel.

Terenia tries to close out the doubts, the guilt, the horror of what she has done, but the wall she constructed is a mangled wreck, torn down by the events of the bar. What is this place that it flays people open and lays their emotions out so easily? she wonders miserably. Her mind replays the last moments of her sisters life, over and over, unceasingly. Even more horrendous than the act itself is the moment when she saw Ossanlin, in Hork-Bajir form, appearing from the shadows of the forest with Tamora's body in tow.

Why did he bring her to me? Anger flares up as she thinks of the Andalite. He knew what he was doing, what it would mean. He knew that I had consigned her to death the moment that she arrived here. Why would he go out of his way to save her from the Empire just to drop her at my feet?

Something about that line of thinking nagged at her though. After all, it was her blade that had ended a life, not his. But he knew better. she rationalizes.

Corliss starts to feel a hopeful tingling in Mike's hands and feet, and he experimentally clenches and unclenches his hands.  Inside his boots he wriggles Mike's toes.

"Oh, thank God," one of them sighs in relief.  "Me bloody 'ead's fit to split, but at least I can move me fingers."

Slowly, very slowly, Mike sits himself up, wincing.  His head aches terribly and his arms and legs feel like they're on pins and needles.

But they're alive.  Alive, and besides some residual dizziness, there is no apparent permanent damage.

Corliss takes control, gingerly feeling along the big patch of putty sealant on the side of his head.

"Christ, we must look like a real winner," he mutters.  Then he remembers...Terenia .

Carefully he edges his body to the side, pulling his legs over to hang off the edge of the metal table.

"Is she...?" he says aloud.

<No, mate, she's breathing,> says Mike.

---

Myitt jumps, startled, looking up sharply as the ship lights blast by overhead.

"I don't like the look of those lights," she says worriedly, walking along with Tora.

"Not sure about this," Elayne murmurs dubiously as she accepts the disk, flipping it over a few times. Then she bends over and pushes the "eject" switch on a thin computer tower that is of late 2000s human design. Out glides a CD drive, but the hole in the drive is larger than the disk, itself. "Uh... yeah. Trey?" She asks, looking to him for advice. "Does it read more like a memory card, maybe? Did they even create these disks with older readers in mind?"

Tora nods in silent agreement, hurrying to catch up with Myitt, matching her pace to her friend's. The sound of the incoming ship recedes, and Tora attempts to put it out of her mind until she hears its distinct small engine sound as it returns, sounding even lower this time. She pauses and turns to look back at the tiny fighter that could not be big enough to hold more than two humans. "Do you recognize that design? It appears to be... somewhat Yeerkish."

"Yes, it does," Myitt says tersely, quickening her pace, "although it's not a design I've seen before.  The faster we get to my ship, the faster we can try to scan it.  There."

She nods up ahead at the flickering red landing lights that signal the location of her ship as soon as she approaches.

Myitt snaps at the computer, and the Bug fighter's hatch melts open.  Out slides the fighter's ramp, and Myitt stalks up it and on board.

((i'ma try re-introducing Balthazar.. ya'll remember him?? the 9 foot tall demon-esque alien??))

Jumping out of hyper-space, the battered, single person ship did a quick scan for any planets with life-forms.

Balthazar is a young 9 foot tall Malonian male, with the scars of all his previous battles showing all over his large muscular arms and what you can see of his torso. His species has skin colours ranging from golden brown all the way to dark red in colour.

His facial features are, in a word, striking. Protruding about 1 whole foot from his forhead, sweeping back around are a pair of grayish coloured horns with some slight cracks in them from fights. He has a humanoid shaped head, and his skin colour is a dark tan colour, a rarity in his species. He has no hair on the top of his head, but he has a small amount of facial hair, which he has trimmed into the shape of a long goatee style beard. If he smiles, and he rarely does so, you are able to see his pointed canine teeth, and a snake-like split tounge.

His shipboard computer beeping, he turned his attention to a small planet-like moon that is mostly forested, but with a few lakes here and there. Guiding the small spaceship to an empty patch in the landing zone, he misjudged the landing and he damaged the rear left landing gear. Balthazar's ship is known as a ScytheDart on his home planet. The shape of the ship is long and rather skinny, hence the 'dart' part of the naming. It gets the 'scythe' part from the scythe shaped wings protruding from the sides, near the end, making a shape like a miniature axe. Suspended below the wings, are a number of weapon systems, most notably, the dual Gatling lazers and the small thermonuclear missiles that are snuggled right up against the ship's body.

Quickly grabbing his weapon belt, he made sure that his throwing knives and small plasma pistol were attached. He also grabbed his black denim vest and he then buckled the belt through the loops on his bloodstained blue jeans and then he tossed his tattered black vest on, so it covered a majority of the scars on his torso and most of his belt.

Pressing a few buttons inside the c0ckpit, the nano-phase hull melted away to allow him to jump out and to survey his surroundings. Looking around, he saw a multitude of different ships, and even a huge junkyard to one side.

Walking over to the only building in sight, he pushed open the door, but before he went inside, he looked around and he saw a number of different lifeforms all talking and drinking. Ducking through the door, making sure to not hit the top of the door-frame, he walked up to the bartender and said in a gutteral, almost gravelly sounding voice "Bartender, I'll have a bottle of the strongest whiskey you have. And a clean shot glass as well"

Upon wandering into the shipyard, Mar notices the door to Myitt's ship opening and Myitt wandering out of his sight. Mar curses at his own lack of speed and wonders what in the world his little Precious is actually doing. He generally used to make it his business to find out what his pets were up to, but in this body his usual rounds have been almost impossible. Mar stares at the ground. What is a Highest when nothing of his mannerisms and abilities remain? A shallow puppet with its Name? It is only now that he remembers where Elayne said she was going. He doesn't want to be near a source of such discomfort, but seeing her is better than no purpose at all.

Elayne's ship is not far. It looks as peculiar on the outside as he remembers. The trouble is, he's not clear on how he's going to get in. Teleportation is far too risky and wastes his energy. He's more likely to get stuck in a wall than he is to actually make it inside. Mar kicks at the ground, his frustration building.

Tora follows Myitt on board, heading towards the ****pit so she can be privy to the information that will be revealed in the computer's scan. The sound of the approaching ship is muted by the metal surrounding her, but its hum floats through the open hatch door.

Illim makes further refinements to the computer's orders as he reaches the ship yard, avoiding the smoking ruin of something and landing several hundred meters away on the edge of the forest in an unoccupied space. The engines' hum quiets to a whine, and the standby lights flick on as the main ship lights dim.

Illim remains in the pilot's chair a moment, surveying the forest outside the windows with curiosity. Not terribly different from Earth... he thinks, then glances out the side windows to see a collection of ships that is so eclectic in origin he cannot begin to imagine where some of them are from and adds, but we've definitely moved off-world.

Aloud, he says, "So now what?"

His host responds promptly, with a matter-of-fact tone. <<Nourishment would be beneficial.>>

"Right," Illim smirks. "You're always so pragmatic, Serid," he says as he hefts himself out of the chair and towards the hatch, which glides open as he approaches. He steps down the ramp that unfolds a few steps ahead of him, and onto the gravel.

His host is a six foot-tall human with a dark olive complexion and even darker eyes and hair, the latter of which is clipped short and curls at the ends. He looks simultaneously strong and gaunt, as if he gets enough to eat, but never sufficient protein.

"Uh...I don't really know, honestly," Trey says, looking abashed, "The ship my dad took wasn't technically ours, you see. Most of the stuff I'd barely ever seen before, let alone been allowed to use. All I know is what my father told me - it's a blend of Andalite and human technology. Mostly human, though. Maybe an Andalite ship could read it?" Trey looks both encouraged and terrified by this idea. It is better than the alternative, though - an idea he does not even want to voice, because he knows he will be turned down.

Terenia twitches restlessly for a moment before falling still once more. It does not look as though she is going to regain consciousness anytime soon.

Corliss inches himself off the gurney, pausing to wait for a wave of dizziness to pass.  He shuts his eyes tightly.

---

Myitt fires up the Bug's main engines, opening the main holoscreens and scrolling through the options.

"Let's see what you are, stranger," she says, sitting back in the nav seat.  She taps the hovering circle that initiates broad range technology scans.

"Maybe so," Elayne shrugs and stands from the pilot's seat. "I've seen at least one around here. Want to find out if they'll let us try it?" She offers the disk back to him, bending down to close the disk drive. She takes several steps to the hatch and opens it.

Tora hovers over Myitt's shoulder, peering at the screens. "There," she points to results the computer begins to spit out. "We were right. It is Yeerkish, and very new." She frowns at the reported ship size. "Sized for two humans? That is troubling."

Illim surveys his surroundings, but the ramshackle structure he had seen from the air is blocked from view by ships. With a sigh, he turns to close the hatch behind him and orders his ship's cloak to activate. Then he turns towards where he thinks he saw the building.

"Okay..." Trey says, standing up as well. He looks a bit uncomfortable with the idea, but he follows her out regardless. I can't very well naysay my own idea, can I? he chastises himself. He keeps close to Elayne as he walks, not wanting to mention the fact that Andalites utterly terrified him on the best of days.

Silver sat up and winced every bit of the way. She made no sounds of pain but her eyes gave it all away. The nurse hd told her to go easy so her stitches wouldn't open. She had said "No promises". She gave - or tried to - a reassuring smile to her parents and atood without a word and walked from the ship. She walked to check on the reptilian man in ICU but they denied her entry saying he wasn't ready yet. She nodded and went to the bar to find the right drink to numb her body from the stinging nd burning pain. When she entered she didn't bother with her illusions to hide her scars. She noticed there were a couple new ones as she walked up to the bartender and ordered. She didn't see who she sat by but she had a sort of distinction or...horns? She stared at the counter until the bartender brought her a bottle and shot glass. She took two shots and downed them no problem.

Corliss squints up at nothing in particular, sucking in a breath and trying to ignore the dull pain radiating from underneath the putty bandage.

He steps away from the gurney and steadies Mike's body as he walks over to Terenia's unconscious form.

Slowly he kneels down by her and presses a hand gently on her shoulder.

"Terenia?" he says worriedly.

---

Myitt gives Tora a sidelong smirk.  "Yeah, it's troubling.  Just like a lot of things in this place are troubling.  A brand new Yeerkish ship designed specifically for humans is landing and my brother is still here, not to mention half of my eccentric friends.  Are we going to investigate, or...should we just...finally go home?"

She pats Tora on the arm.  "Maybe whoever it is just wants a drink?"

Temrash had left the medbay momentarily to do something, and came back to see Corliss hovering over Terenia. "Corliss. Lay back down. Terenia is fine. Just very tired. If she doesn't wake up in an hour and a half, I'll give her some stimulants. I'm not sure what that strange substance that went through her system was, but it doesn't seem to be efecting her negatively. I'll monitor her. You just rest.

Claxter continued to watch the new arrivals, and also noticed a familiar person come in with scars. <Hey. Are you alright? You left earlier through the back, but now it looks like you were in a big fight.>
