Breekan looks down as what's left of the tendril dangling from his arm disappears. Through a bar window, he catches glimpse as the rest of the bouncer follows. He turns to Myitt. "What the hell was that?" he asks.

"Damned if I know," she says, blinking.  She kneels down and carefully picks up her Dracon with her good hand, and juggles the mug she had dropped again, wincing as she stands back up.  She nods at the grimy bar window at where Shal sits safely on an armchair.  "At least it didn't hurt her.  But if I had to guess, I'd say it was something that wants her tab paid."  She giggles and shakes her head, stepping into the bar.

The bartender sighs noiselessly and fills another mug of water.  In a few moments he comes around and hands it to Shal, along with a note.

"Well?" it says.

Myitt sets the dirty mug onto the bar counter, peering at her left hand, turning it over.  There are no marks where the bouncer's thorns were.

Strange.

Breekan follows Myitt back inside. He slumps down next to her, and orders another bottle of Gutwhiskey.

Myitt sits down and sighs, picking at the edge of one of the concrete bandages on her right arm.  "So.  How 'bout that sports team we all root for?"

A bottle of Gutwhiskey materializes next to Breekan, as the bartender stands near Shal, awaiting a response.

Shal laughs, she looks at the BT and responds, "Well, call up the big guy. He'll get my tab." She takes a drink of water, and makes a face. "So, Myitt. Howm uh...how bad is my leg?"

The bartender glares at Shal in his placid way, then walks back behind the bar.  He picks up a dusty red phone and turns the rotary dial on it a few times.  He waits.  Shifts his weight a little.  Nods.

Then he hangs up and picks up a dry glass and a dish towel.

Myitt leans on her good arm, elbow on the bar counter.  "Well, Shal, I think it's safe to say that your leg is just fine.  Wherever it is...whole."

<Did you just quote Men In Black?>

((Agh, sry guys, there was no posting for a while so I kinda got in the habit of not checking...  :(  ))

*directs a private thought-speech to Applix.*  <<She...well, it's complicated.  Right before you arrived, well Breek and Shal are both intimately related to the Crayak, though not by choice.  His 'game' is a sick one and he's turned Shal against Breek.  Quite simply Breek was the subject of Crayak's attention right before you arrived.  Even with my time-flow abilities I couldn't stop him...and...well then it stopped.  But Shal is convinced that Breek is no longer Breek and...well that's about it I guess.  She believes this Breek is some other construction of Crayak meant to destroy her.>>

*Ossanlin turns to Breek*  <Well, different is one way you could put it I guess.>  *Ossanlin's now perpetually sky-blue eyes glitter a bit.*  <But I'm still me...Captain of the Dome Ship Tyrennian, which I see was victorious in orbit...and your friend Breek...I still remember when you saved me from that z-space phase ship...wow that was a long time ago...>

*Ossanlin nods to Shal, smiling with his eyes as she asks for his help, but as he moves to help her, a cloud forms around her and becomes a centipede underneath her body, Ossanlin reaches for his shredder, but senses no malicious intent in the being, so stays his hand.  Myitt and Breek however do not...a small bout of Dracon fire erupts.*  <That being won't harm you Shal!>  *He tries to calm Shal as she obviously is terrified.  He watches as the being transports Shal inside the bar and the others follow.*

*he turns back to Applix*  <Well, shall we head inside?  We have much catching up to do.>  *motions to the bar, his tail swaying gently back and forth, his eyes smiling as things really seem to have gotten back to normal, aside from the addition of yet another old friend.*

Shal groans at the BT and mutters, "A**hole." She struggles to sit up, a look of concern crossing her face.. "You think he's going to show up?"

Applix seemed pretty flabbergasted as events transpired around him. He heard Ossanlin but gave no visual indication that this was the case, it was natural to simply accept private thought-speak without acknowledging it. Before he knew it Breekan was seizing his hand and before he could do anything the man had shaken it. Applix seemed to try to pull it away in the end, obviously unsure of him as his main eyes looked him up and down critically.

Years had passed and Applix had only grown cautious and suspicious, although apparently not cautious enough to bring a weapon. With his hand pulled away from the man he felt the need to either excuse his actions or accuse the man of being some sort of devil. It had nothing to do with what Ossanlin had told him but instead was a weird shiver-inducing feeling he got from the way the girl seemed to declare Breekan as being some sort of imposter.

As the fight broke out he seemed to just hold back, looking towards the strange being with curiosity and a twinge of fear. It had been a long time since he'd felt a lot of that emotion, but it still existed within him. He hadn't been destroyed in the time away, only postponed.

He now followed Ossanlin into the bar, glad for how the door had been designed and grateful he needed only to watch out for his tail going through. Hooves echoed softly through the bar, stalk eyes gazing around quickly and taking in the strange sight which was the bar and its occupants. He paid little attention to the girl and Myitt for now, instead pushing a stool out of the way so he could stand in front of the bar.

For all of the silence that was Applix, it was obvious he was trying to adjust to the strangeness of the people around him.

*Ossanlin steps up to the bar next to Applix, surveying the room and confirming his suspicions that the BT had miraculously cleaned up all the mess.  His eye twitched a bit as he searched for the familiar life-force of Seran, however his muted abilities in his regular form hampered him somewhat.  He doubted though that he could sense Seran even if he was in full silver-blade form...Seran was very good at hiding himself and shielding his thoughts.  He knew Ossanlin's secret, and so knew to keep himself safe from it.  Somehow Ossanlin thought Seran was not dead, and that he was still nearby, no ships had left after all.  It made him a bit nervous, but he simply resigned himself to the moment glad for the peace.  His energy was drained from the earlier encounter and he was glad to be able to relax and recharge as it were.*

<Barkeep, two phials of Mirfan for Applix and myself!>  *Ossanlin smiled with his eyes as he watched the BT set down his perpetually cleaned mug to prepare two drinks consisting mainly of liquified, fermented grass with certain spices and flavors added.  Thankfully the cups were specially-designed to allow easy drinking while supporting the weight of one hoof, one of the things about this bar, it had everything.*

*He turns his attention back to Applix.*  <So, it's been ages!  How have you been?  Where have you been?  How're things going?>  *he continues to smile with his eyes, his tail swaying back and forth in its perpetual motion, his stalk-eyes always scanning the room out of habit.*

Myitt shrugs back at Shal and looks at the bartender, who has just set a couple of drinks in front of Ozzy and Applix.  "I see you cleaned the place up nicely."

No answer.

"Hmh.  Making phone calls to your taciturn friends?"

The bartender just blinks at her, mouth set in a straight line.

"You're not going to budge on this, are you?"

Still nothing.

"Look, you want the tab.  Maybe we can actually pay it, but only in monetary form--no life payments.  No loss of any more limbs and not even one scratch or bruise.  The bouncer just picked her up and carried her in here.  It's not like it was hard."

The floor trembles a little and Myitt winces.  "Sorry, sorry.  Right.  So can you call off the dogs?"

The bartender just stands there.

"Do you really want another mess in this place?"

He seems to hesitate.

"Ring up Shalner's tab.  And I hope that phone call was to your mother," she snaps.

The bartender narrows his eyes and pulls out his pen and notepad.  Click-click.  He hands the notepad to Myitt.

She squints at it, turns it over, looks up at the BT.  "This dollar sign...this is in U.S. dollars?  The United States of America, planet Earth, inflation adjusted circa 2009 A.D., the dimension that we come from?"

The bartender nods.

Myitt sets the pad of paper back down on the counter, eyebrows raised.  The bartender takes it and also writes, "No AmEx."

She swivels the bar seat and looks back at Shal again.  "You got any tens?"

Breekan stares wide-eyed at Myitt and the Bartender's exchange. He leans over and whispers. "Jesus, Myitt, how the hell do you go and do a thing like that?"

"Don't know," she murmurs, fishing single-handed through her jacket.  She pulls out a black and red sphere, some black coins, a handful of loose U.S. change, a battered Swiss Army knife, a few crumpled ones.  She keeps digging and finds exactly $14.68 (USD).  "I can write you a check.  I promise it won't bounce.  I might be poor as dirt when I'm not on that damned planet, but we're pretty well funded.  You'd probably be surprised at how many independently wealthy ex-Peace Corps volunteers are undercover Yeerk militia."  She sniffles.  "We're tax deductable, and much less creepy than The Sharing."

The bartender just watches, hand hovering over the phone.

Applix seemed to watch the discussion between the bartender and Myitt from afar through his stalk eyes. He slowly turned his main ones to Ossanlin as the Mirfan drained into his body.

<My wife died some years ago and I've been wandering around aimlessly ever since.> He spat out.

Applix's tail seemed to fall limply at the rear of his tauren-like body. He let a feminine graze some of his bluish hair back there and again had to remind himself he was without weapon.

<Ah, that came out sounding more depressing than it actually is.> He shrugged, making a cringe with his mouth-less face. He had spent the equivalent of years as a humanoid morph over his life-span and as such he had picked up on some bad habits and one of them was making faces.

<Let's not talk about me. How have you been?> He said, trying to sound enthusiastic. He was interested, but some of himself remained reserved and cautious at the moment. Something seemed suspicious about their small party and he wasn't yet sure what it was. He felt as if a fight were about to break up between them and he had no clue as to why.

*watches intently as Applix speaks, doing his best to ignore the strange and...well...strang e conversation between Myitt and the BT.  He allows a many-fingered hand to rest on Applix's shoulder for a second.*  <I'm sorry, I didn't know.>  *he casts his eyes down.*  <It's been so long since we've spoken...it must've been hard.  I'm sorry.>  *he lets the moment hover for a second before letting his hand drop back to his side.*

<Well, perhaps we shan't dwell on such things.>  *he senses some sort of holding back in Applix, as if the andalite perhaps did not trust him.  He did not allow his hurt to show at this, obviously the poor being had been through a lot of rough times.  It was probably only natural for him to have distrust.*  <My own life is nothing really to talk about.  We've hit an uncommon lull in the war, aside from that little spat that the humans instigated up above the planet a few hours ago.  Just routine patrols through dead space.  A necessary but very boring job.  In fact the past day or two have been the most excitement I've seen in some time.  Almost like old times, but it's a little different now...everyone seems to have grown and changed a bit in the time between.  But thank goodness the place is still around, or we may never have met again.>  *he gestures around the bar.*  <Any of us.  I'm just glad to be among old friends again.>  *he smiles with his eyes, making contact with Applix's main eyes.*
