Chad woke up in the nurse's office. His legs were bandaged, as well as a few other places, and he had a morphine drip going into his arm.

"He left." He said dazily. The morphine had him drugged up pretty good.

"Who left?" The nurse said.

"The Yeerk. I don't feel him in my head anymore."

"Yes, he was taken by Cody, I believe."

"Where is Sierra?"

"She's in the bed over there, with broken ankles."

"Hey Sierra. We're roomies now." He smiled like someone who was drunk or high.

"I hope I'll be ok. I'm going to need a wheelchair, with these two busted legs. I don't know if it's the morphine talking, but I'm not overly mad at Cody. I would like to kick that one guy in the crotch for using me as a body shield, though. Odrett, the Yeerk, was really ticked at you. I don't think Yeerks like being pushed around."

"Heh heh heh. Yeah, maybe. where's that nurse call button?"

He fumbled around until he found something with buttons. He pressed one, and a nurse came shortly. She turned it down a bit, and fluffed his pillow. She also went to Sierra to see if she needed anything.

"The two of you will be moved soon, because of an evacuation."

"Evacuation?"

"Yes, the school is no longer safe. We'll have wheelchairs over soon for the both of you." She said before leaving to do other things.

"Perfect. What about our parents?" Chad asked, but she was gone.

Chad lifted the sheets with his powers so he could roll onto his side and face Sierra. Then he let the sheets fall. "Why stress about what you can or can't do on your own, when you can manipulate others? I'll bet every leader in the world wishes he could gain absolute loyalty just with his voice."
