My name is Rachel, and right now I'm about to die.
The Ellimist told me his life story, and why he couldn't save me. I understood, but that didn't stop me from being angry at him. I felt everything fading away.
You know how they say your entire life flashes before your eyes the instant you die? I've been in plenty of close fights, and it's true, when you think your going to die you get a very unique perspective on your life.
This time was different. I didn't see my life, a saw the entire multiverse. I stood in a field of blood red roses, each an entire universe.
I saw every world, fully and completely, all at once.
And at the center was the Tower.
All paths lead to he Beams.
The Tower was at the center of everything, and through the worlds and whens and hows, were the Beams.
All Beams lead to the tower.
I walked/flew/swam towards the tower. I had no choice, it was a force that pulled me in, it was destiny.
As I moved trough the field, a single rose drew my attention. I peered in and saw the others from my ka-tet.
Tobias had run away from the world, Jake hardly spoke and had sunken into depression, Marco had become a celebrity, and Cassie had moved on.
I saw as Jake gave the final order.
"Ram the blade ship..."
I entered the tower and climbed the stairs. Door after door after door. Each one a life irrevocably tied to the tower.
