"Yeah, I feel the string," I said, grabbing hold of it. "I think I'm going straight to The Big One, in case you have trouble. If anyone comes in there with me, and it isn't one of you guys, I can take care of them. Down here, there isn't enough room to morph," I said. Taking one cautious step at a time, making certain that I had a strong grip on the string, I made my way further into the tunnel. Eventually, I came to a fork. Following the string, I headed left, stopped abruptly, and turned right.
And there I was. I was in The Big One. Unlike earlier that morning, there was no light at all what so ever. I stumbled forward and climbed into a particularly steep dip in the earth. There. I was in. "Now what?" I whispered silently to myself. You wait.
I'm not sure which is worse: waiting for the battle, or the battle itself. I was too nervous to try to guess how long I had been there as I morphed polar bear. It didn't matter, anyway. The fight was sure to start before I reached the two-hour limit.
Now in morph, I had a better sense of smell. The only scent I recognized, though, was the smell of blood. The others were completely unfamiliar.
The sound of footsteps from the nearest tunnel startled me back to full awareness. I spun around, expecting to see a human Controller. It wasn't a human Controller, that I was sure of. In the darkness, I saw what appeared to be a bladed, reptillian creature. If I had been human, I would have run away immediately. The creature was at least seven feet tall.
<Guys? There's a Controller in here, I think. But it definitely isn't human.>
