I looked at the girl quizzically.

(Xan, please be VERY CAREFUL not to turn into a Gary-Sue. Make sure that his Crayak-power is VERY limited. I'll allow a certain amount of time-stopping and telekinesis, but I don't want a demi-God in our RPG. Thanks.)

"I must be dreaming," I said. Everything suddenly made sense. Of course! It was a dream. People obviously couldn't turn into animals, and they most certainly couldn't freeze time. It was all a dream. But it felt so real. Perhaps this was all a hallucination.

"A hallucination," I thought aloud. But somehow the answer just didn't feel right. The cat tilted her head to the side quizically, which made me feel even worse.

I wrinkled my nose in disgust.

"I'm a girl, thank you. And you had better start explaining to me how this is possible. First I woke up in the back of some alley with no idea how I got there. Then, some crazy man with a gun started chasing me and screaming, "Die Yeerks!" Now, everything is frozen, people are turning into animals, and everyone is talking nonsense. This has to be a hallucination."

Still confused, I followed the strange talking cat to the door, still trying to process all of this information. So... Apparently, these people had the ability to morph into animals, and the strange man in the room had the ability to freeze time. Two questions answered. I still had many, many more.

But there was one question that wouldn't leave my mind, wouldn't leave me alone: Who were these "Yeerks"? These strange people had failed to answer that question, though they had answered the others I had asked. It was as if they were afriad to answer.

I headed out the door, the girl's friends, who hadn't said a word the entire time, following behind me.

(Even though they aren't biological, let's assume that the Chee can hear thought-speak. I don't recall if it was or wasn't so in the books.)

<You were frozen, then, I guess. This guy came in and stopped time, right before he disappeared. Then, this as-yet-unnamed girl started asking why I was a cat, who the Yeerks are, things like that. I don't think that she's from around here, and if she TRULY knows NOTHING, we can't just let her wander out into the city. If she doesn't know about morphing, obviously she cannot morph, so she is as good as defenseless. Norin, do you maybe have a place that we can go to explain everything without interruption or eavesdroppers?>

I looked down at the floor and bit my lip. "Leah," I said with a sigh. I had wanted to keep my name a secret, but no other name would come to mind. And hiding my identity wouldn't help me, anyway. I didn't feel comfortable around these people. I didn't want to trust them, but I did. I just hoped things wouldn't turn out like last time.

Stunned, I sat there, wondering what on earth was going on. Trying to understand what was going on around me, I heard one girl ask if anyone was coming, and I stood up, and dusted myself off.

"Is it alright if I come? I have absolutely no clue who or what anything is, especially THAT guy," I said as I pointed to the man with the gun. I looked around, waiting for an answer. "I'm Edward, by the way." I said, a bit nervous of...  everyone, actually.

I blinked in surprise, staring at the new person. He was tall. had brown hair and green eyes, and spoke with a strange accent. I narrowed my eyes as I studied his features. He looked so familiar. It was as if I had actually SEEN this man before. But where?

I ignored the thuoght. Right now, it didn't matter. I decided it would be best if I kept my mouth shut and waited for Ais's reply.
