Paperback The Reaction: PP 13-16: Rachel jumps into a crocodile pit to rescue a boy who had fallen in. She lands inches away from a giant crocodile. It charges her, and she acquires it. Seconds later, she morphs the crocodile. But what happened to her outer clothing (which the Animorphs can't morph)? She wouldn't have had time to take it off before morphing, which means that it should have gotten shredded. But Rachel says nothing about the fate of her outer clothing. If it got shredded, why didn't she say so (after all, she is very interested in clothing)? If it DID morph with her (possible due to her allergic morphing), why didn't she mention that in tones of utmost amazement?
If Rachel did lose her outer clothing during her morph, then when she demorphed, she would have been reduced to her leotard. Why no mention of zoo security gawking at her leotard? Why no mention of zoo security finding her shredded clothing in the pit?
