Random Theory on Book 7

The alternate future in #7 is caused by Jake's infestation in an altered timeline
The future shown in The Stranger happens because in an alternate timeline, the Animorphs did not rescue Ax, but Jake was still infested at the hospital in #6. If Ax had not been with them at the hospital, nobody would have noticed Jake was a Controller and he could have easily turned them over to Visser Three. This also explains why future-Rachel was confused by Ax's presence.

You know, I usually don't give a lot of weight to fan theories, but I'll be honest, that one is pretty rock-solid. I'll keep that in mind when I get around to re-reading the series, because it is a pretty interesting concept.
Now I'd kinda like to see a fanfic showing how that timeline would have played out.

Oooooh, thanks. Some people will argue that the timeline in 7 was a fake Ellimist generated timeline, I've always thought that they did really time travel.

The future folks had expected 6 humans.  Who was the sixth human Animorph?

David, of course.

Why didn't he go bad in the alternate timeline?  (IIRC, his parents were constantly moving around, so he wouldn't have been in town the day Elfangor arrived, so wouldn't have joined that first night).

Things were changed around in the alternate timeline. Events happening differently may have had David not to become a total threat.
