((Another poem for you guys. <3 And not quite about beauty.))

Time passes me
The minutes, the hours, and the days
I look in the mirror and see a useless mound of flesh
It grows more useless, and wrinkly, and saggy
With every passing day the vessel decays

You told me once, in the spring
When energy was boundless, and spirit was immortal
That you would come to me, black as night
Your wings a guard against every bit of me
That even then saw an ugly girl

I am still waiting, Highest.
You promised me.

I stare every day and see nothing but flaws
Flaws in both my mind and body
Blind to that ethereal beauty
Which drew the King to me

I live onward and onward
Clinging to every drop of light
Tired of my own doing, wasted by my own hand
So that one day, one day
I might look in the mirror and see the truth.

Wow, I love your poems! The next time some smart-arse looks at an English textbook and says poems are supposed to rhyme, I swear I'll slap him. ;)
