I hate to sound rather pessimistic, but this will fail. Obviously you haven't looked around here much, or you would have noticed that there is already a project underway to do audiobook adaptations of the series. (Disclaimer: I founded the project, and in some ways that makes us competitors.) It is slow, arduous work, and we have a decent-sized group working on it. Our progress comes in between rather frustrating periods of inactivity, and we've had several cast members drop out, requiring re-recording of their lines with a new VA. Doing this by yourself (at least that's what it seems like) will simply not happen.
Also, another note: I poked around on AFF for a bit after reading your thread, and you guys still have the eBooks that we made (at least you claim to. Dunno if they're still in that forum.) When the rereleases had been announced, RAF got an email from Scholastic that demanded we take the eBooks down. The only reason the audiobooks haven't met a similar fate is because the project is too small to notice. If your project gets anywhere meaningful, it'll get a C&D, I guarantee. Plus, you might alert Scholastic to the fact that AFF is still hosting our eBooks. So be careful.
