This thread is just like it sounds; what would Harry Potter be like in Animorphs? We know wizards and witches are ignorant of all things to do with technology, !
I wouldn't say they're ignorant of all things. For one you have the muggle borns like Hermione and Seamus. And the Squibs who pretty much live outside of the wizarding world since unless someone like Dumbledore gives them a job.
It'd be safer to say that wizards and witches don't need technology for the things they can use magic for. Technology develops as a way to cope with a disadvantage. If you have the natural ability to make termites levitate out of their holes and into your mouth, then you don't need to fashion a stick to fish them out.
and that they probably don't even know that Muggles have gone to the moon
There are plenty of muggles who still don't know about it.
Even the so-called "good" wizards consider "Muggle tricks" like technology inferior to magic, but the Andalites and Yeerks' ships can blow CHUNKS off a planet!
I'm going to quote Arthur C. Clark here: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
To the Andalites and Yeerks, the wizards and witches of Harry Potter are basically another alien race with abilities and technology that differ from theirs.
Magic may be powerful in a lot more ways, but nothing can rival the sheer, destructive killing power of a Dome ship or Blade ship.
That is the one downside of magic in the Harry Potter universe. Allow me to direct you to this video from the Cracked.com team to illustrate that point.
Why The Harry Potter Universe is Secretly Terrifying Now, on the other hand, wizard-Controllers WOULD be VERY useful, especially in certain specialized battle situations.
Onto this point.
I would certainly hate the idea of the Yeerks getting a hold of an Auror. Why go through all the hassle of the Sharing when you can cast an Imperius curse on a group of people and force them into the Yeerk Pool? Aurors have the right to cast the Three Forbidden Curses as needed, so an Auror would effectively be the worse possible person to fall into Yeerk control.
On the other hand, Elfangor's sunny disposition at the time of The Invasion would be a lot better if he knew the wizards and witches who could defend themselves. Remember, the Wizarding world exists all over, not just in Europe.
And there are plenty of kids out there, like Hermione, who have a full grasp of spells, hexes and curses. The Yeerks would have a very hard time finding places like Diagon Alley since they are specifically enchanted to be invisible to anyone who doesn't know how or where to find them.
I mean, if you were a dying Andalite prince and you came across Harry, Ron, Hermione, Seamus and Neville, you'd have to admit that they have a much better chance of fighting the Yeerks than a handful of kids who are stupid enough to wander through a dangerous construction site.
