Well yes, stupid mistakes have come to be expected on V3's part, but after the Yeerks did figure out where the new recruits were coming from the fact that the auxiliaries still had to "keep up their appearance of normal crippled kids and return to the home for disabled kids" is a rather silly plot hole (and yes, they do explicitly mention this being the case in later books).
