"Right, brain slug- ehh, brain-inhabiting species, symbiote or something, right?" Sam caught herself but not before mostly saying 'brain slug'. She had no way of knowing was translated how, but she had the nagging feeling that 'brain slug' might be at least unflattering if not insulting. She pointed a finger at Dekket's head - or the head Dekket was in. "So, don't mind my prying, but there's a guy in there? I mean, you're in there I guess, but your host is in there too?" She asked, part of her wondering what if she wanted to ask the bartender for something and another part wondering what that might be. A silly sort of shame flowed over her as she realized she had a sudden, profound craving for a tall glass of apple juice. From concentrate, the cheap stuff she'd had as a kid, from big cartons. It had been a long time since she'd had that.

That train of thought was interrupted by a flurry of chatter and exclamation from Pluck and Dekket, Sam turned her head just to see what looked like a potted houseplan pop out of thin air, sans any pop. She blinked slowly as Pluck chattered on about magic, and Dekket blustered with shock.

"Well, that's new." She said truthfully. Sam had seen an incomprehensibly lot of 'alot' in the past year, and her perspective of what was possible or impossible was largely shot to pieces at this point. Frankly this wasn't significantly more shocking than the presence of the giant talking and well-tailored raven.

"Of course!" Pluck says, her enthusiasm nearly matching Dekket's. She passes her birdpipes over to him, allowing him to inspect them; curiously, there seems to be nothing out of the ordinary about them. They appear in every way to be a normal musical instrument. "I don't really know how I can do it. I learned how to cast spells with music during my trip to the Feywild, and that whole trip is really blurry." She pauses, seemingly trying to remember something, but quickly shakes off whatever thought she was pondering.

"I've always known how to talk to plants, though, or as long as I can remember. I grew up near a Druid Grove, so that kind of magic is really common where I'm from. I really wish I could remember how I learned the rest though; a lot of things were fuzzy after I came back home - I had been gone for forty years!" She's nearly shouting at this point, as if she can't believe it herself. "And let me tell you, I'm hardly a day over eighteen! For me, I was gone for only two weeks, but forty years had passed at my home! My younger brother, Flick, is so much older than me now! And bigger, too!" Pluck gestures with her wings, trying to convey how much her brother had grown.

"Anyway, he and his husband Del helped me get settled back in, and Del helped me figure out how to get more consistent with my magic. It's a good thing they were there to help, because Papa and Mama..." Pluck suddenly trails off, falling into an uncomfortable silence, as she stares almost blankly into her drink.
