Animorphs in other countries
« on: July 23, 2008, 10:29:04 PM »
So, when Myitt and I went to Japan, we made it a point to check several bookstores for Animorphs. The scans of the covers on the Hirac Delest site helped for explaining the title, but we still didn't have any luck. (Although we did find two Japanese Goosebump books *___* )

It really wasn't until we got to Osaka that the idea occurred, and we might've had more luck in Tokyo.  Does anyone know the status of Animorphs in other countries? Are they as hard to find elsewhere as they are here in the US?
Let us think the unthinkable, let us do the undoable, let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.

I've looked in a few major australian bookstores; they're not available in store, but they can be bought online (and presumably can be ordered in). I was able to get most of the series from eBay

China's pretty big. If they were ever published in China you may be able to find them, assuming you can read Chinese.

I went to the Kinokuniya bookstore in Shinjuku (Tokyo) and looked in the catalog for Animorphs.  They only had #1.  I asked about it and one of the staff got the book for me.

That bookstore was freaking huge, too, so the fact that they only had one book there might mean that it is harder to find in smaller bookstores/outside Tokyo.  It's probably easier to order online.

Yes, I saw #1 to #5 of Animorphs in Japanese on internet... I don't know if they translated more than those 5...

I'm living in Shanghai, and it happens to be the biggest city in China...does that qualify?

Well, if the bookstores fail, and public libraries are hard to find, you can check out the campus libraries. There's a gazillion universities in Shanghai and the best ones have really good libraries.
