I think even other Chee were raising their proverbial eyebrows at Erek and saying "And just what are you going to actually do, being nonviolent and all?" at least that was the impression I got in book 10, but since from the moment we meet the Chee they already have a plan to stop being nonviolent it's possible that up to a certain point their infiltration was nothing more than an attempt to see whether or not the best interests of dogs would be upheld under Yeerk rule.

But I think they could have gone around sabatoging engines and weapon systems to slow down Yeerk efficiency, or disable cloaking devices like the Animorphs planned to in order to alert mankind to the danger without violating their program, I don't think their nonviolence extends to accidental deaths, I mean if I recall correctly in the last book ...
Erek disabled the pool ship's weapons which nearly got them all vaped and didn't bat an eyelash, infact was waiting for Jake to apologize to him.
... but it's been a while since I read that book, I may be recalling wrong.

As per the topic, honestly I think Erek and co were more interested in playing with dogs, human games might not have been to their interest.

Well after thinking about it, disabling cloaks would expose their presence, but then it would force the Yeerks in a full out invasion instead of a slow infestation. so that would be bad.

It would be really cool to see a proper Chee Chronicles. They could start by showing how the Pemalites were destroyed (imagine seeing the death of the Pemalites from the Chee's POV) and then move on to show the Chee settling on Earth and infusing the essence of the Pemalites in wolves. After that we'd see the Chee learning to live alongside humans for the first time.

I would have loved to read that.  that and Taxxon Chronicles.

Non violent sabotage: The Nazis (stupidly) used Slave labourer during WW2, slaves used to leave the fuse/bits out of the bombs, so there are unexploded  bombs all over England (apparently). It is  can be helpful. I heard the word sabotage comes from the word Sabot (clogs) because slave labourers used to throw their sabots into the machines as well.
the reason humans get along with dogs so well is that we have similar body language to them and are pretty similar psychologically so maybe pemalites/dogs/chee actually do like human games.

yeah, you're totally right. The other thing that bothers me about the Chee is book #27. The one-digit password is funny, since the Pemalites were so trusting. Why even bother with a password at all, but hey, whatever.

So IF THEY'RE SO TRUSTING, why would they even need to conceive of some security protocol that suspends animation in case a fight breaks out? I thought the end of #27 was the most blatant deus ex machina in a series that handed them out like condoms at a progressive high school.

But yeah, the Chee. They'll never make perfect sense, from their ever-fluctuating definition of "nonviolent" to their attitudes to their holographic capabilities. They are the amazing plot caulk, used to fill whatever holes need to be filled.

The Chee were concerned enough about security to place the Permalite ship 3 miles underwater, so the one digit password seemed inconsistent with that.  I've read speculation that the password was simply to keep out animals.
