It was said that female Andalites might not be given the ability to morph so I'll just speculate about human female morphing... What if well pregnant the baby just morphs with their mother. A pregnant human and baby would say morph to a pregnant dog and puppy. Which also begs the question what about becoming pregnant well morphed? If a female became a nothlit would her offspring be normal or have human intelligence? What if Rachel had lived and when older acquired a hawk morph..?

Many times I have wondered, the morphing technology was designed exclusively for Andalites, so I wonder about the possibility of the technology having unexpected side affects when applied to non Andalites. For example since as stated female Andalites don't generally morph... Would the offspring of a male and female with morph capabilities be born with the ability. If it is DNA based wouldn't it be hereditary? If it was, would the baby only have the ability or a random mix of the morphs floating around in their parents DNA?

These are my musings of the day.

Where was it stated that females don't usually morph?

If I recall correctly the morphing technology was originally meant to be used as a weapon. As far as I can recall, female Andalites do not serve in the military. Nonetheless, the technology was tested on females and it is stated in HBC that "many studies have shown that females are actually superior when it comes to morphing." Aldrea seems to describe it as a weapon, and the only reason she had access to the technology was because she had a friend in a high place.

Regarding pregnancy, I don't see how the baby would morph with the mother. I don't think the morphing ability is something that can be passed down to offspring.

Which also begs the question what about becoming pregnant well morphed? If a female became a nothlit would her offspring be normal or have human intelligence? What if Rachel had lived and when older acquired a hawk morph..?
Aldrea and Dak's child was a normal Hork-Bajir.

As far as I know (insert correction from smarter user here <3) pregnancy isn't determined by DNA. I mean, the ova has your DNA (half of it, that is) but when the other gamete comes into play and there's zygote action, it's something completely different. Your DNA cannot rebuild another organism. I'd think it'd be... um, gone-ified.

Well, humans are host to a number of species of intestinal bacteria that make digesting certain substances possible (such as carbohydrates), as well as performing several other vital functions. Even though those bacteria don't share the same DNA as the morphing host, they seem to survive the transition to and from Z-Space intact.

Bacteria are tiny though, so maybe that has something to do with it. Perhaps what stage of pregnancy you're in determines whether morphing will destroy the baby or not? It's hard to try and deduce a logical conclusion because morphing clothes is the most conspicuous instance we have of objects surviving morphing even though they don't share the host's DNA, and morphing clothes honestly doesn't make much sense at all. Just a convenient plot device, really...

honestly I have no idea I was just going by what others had posted. Most of it was just speculation and theorising.

i also wondered about the morphing clothes thing, I could understand if it was something that once had DNA like wool or leather but synthetic spandex type stuff?
