In this book, an Inspector Yeerk in the body of a superfast Garatron is inspecting Visser Three. Rachael (temporary leader in Jake's absence) therefore decides to launch Animorph attacks against all the Yeerk controlled facilities. During the last such attack Cassie gets captured. Rachael and the other Animorphs then break into the Yeerk Pool by crashing a plane into a Yeerk skyscraper!
The super fast Garatron initially frustrates efforts to rescue Cassie by running around Cassie, Rachael, and Ax faster then they can strike. Then Cobra Marco bites the Garatron, killing it. Visser Three, having demonstrated the Inspector's incompetence, allows the Animorphs to escape. No one dares defy the Visser by trying to hinder the Animorphs.
When the Garatron begins to weaken, why doesn't the Inspector Yeerk immediately leave it?
