I think Rachel killed David. But she (Rachel) couldn't write it. ;)
And about the choice of Jake. Don't know but I think he'd save Cassie. Love love love... make people stupid ;)
And Katherine does that to let us write more fanfictions and become good writers for the next children ^^

You gotta thank the writers for these forgotten things and screw ups. There is so much material for whoever wants to pick up the series, huh?!
We should do a list of open plots that were left hanging in the series...
