Cassie the Butterfly
« on: July 01, 2015, 04:30:47 AM »
The Departure: Cassie becomes a caterpillar nothlit to persuade Aftran the Yeerk to set her host Karen free.  A few days later, she metamorphs into a butterfly.  This resets her morphing clock, so she returns to her human form.  The next times she invokes that morph, will she become a caterpillar or a butterfly?

She never uses that morph again. I don't think she can.

And ironically one of the things she turns into in your image is the butterfly.

I have seen many morphs that are only used for one book, such as Cassie's Cape Buffalo in "The Hidden", or Cassie's Kangaroo in "The Unexpected".  Is ther any reason why Cassie wouldn't be able to use those two morphs again?

Jake morphed a lizard once, then never again.

Well her butterfly morph happened a in a lot stranger way. It was an abnormal morph.  She became a nothlit in it. While it's never out right said that she can't use this morph, but she dosen't ever use it again. So I guess it can be inffered that she lost it/it became unusable.

She can use Kangaroo and Buffalo. Those are normal morphs. I don't know why she didn't use it again, maybe she didn't feel like she needed them or she forgot them :P.

Real shame about the buffalo. It can be used the same way Jake uses the rhino a few times, exceept it has better eyesight. Though I'm not sure if there's a significant power difference, or how tough the hides are, and so forth. Something that can knock enemies out of the way without losing momentum should be useful in battle.

Yeah it's a shame. Same thing with her elephant morph in 22. Tobias, Ax, and her all get African elephants in The Solution and never use them again.

I had thought that Cassie had merely never found occasion to reuse the butterfly morph.

Other one shot morphs: Starfish, by Rachael in "The Separation".  In which book did the Animorphs morph lobsters?  In which book were bees morphed?

It was always weird to me that nice peaceful Cassie insists on using a battle morph that requires her to rip the throat out of an enemy to be effective. There are better battle morphs for someone who doesn't thrive on spilling the blood of your enemies. You just know that after three years of fighting, there were occasions where she swallowed some of that meat and blood.

Something weird happened to Rachel (getting split into two) while she was in starfish morph. Because of that I'm not sure if she can use starfish.

Jake, Marco, and Ax morph lobster in The Predator.
All the animorphs, except Jake, got bee morphs in The Other.
