One thing I find funny about the cover of Ax morphing Tobias is that if you only had the cover to go on you wouldn't know who was morphing who.

Actually you would; the morphed "animal" always appears on the inside cover.

Not to mention that one of his first new attempts to acquire DNA was getting the notorious dolphin morph. Getting his talons stuck in the dolphin's hide, and it not going into a trance wasn't fun for him.
To add to that, there was also the fly incident in book 16 with Tobias in the toilet

I love Tobias, but I always hated how he was never big on acquiring morphs. You'd think that a kid who hated growing up in his own skin would WANT to morph more, instead of turning into a bird.

Well then you have to take Tobias' current mentality into account. He stopped considering himself a human being from about book three onward. The only thing the morphing power gave him was the ability to join the group on more missions.

     Alright, fine.

But what exactly did he think his relationship with Rachel was going to be after the war? Obviously they can't see the future. They expected to either lose or win. Tobias didn't think Rachel would die. Maybe he assumed the war would go on forever. But still. Did he just expect Rachel to become a lady hawk or something?

Adult Hork Bajir were mentally children and the animorphs were ripping them to shreds by the dozens even AFTER they found this out, and Tobias half-blinding 1 guy is what you're stuck on? It's not like he fully blinded the guy! He still had use of his other eye!

As for Tobias' apparent dissinterest in aquiring more morphs in the begining, it has always been my little pet theory that he was actually suicidal and wasn't actually planning on surviving that first battle. There would be no reason to keep track of time if that were the case. And as crappy as his life was, if he were to die in the heat of battle while defending the world, even if no one knew about it other than the other animorphs, at least then his life would have meant something. But when it actually came time for it he chickened out. At least in this scenerio it makes all of the freaking out over being trapped he did in the earlier books make sense. Because it wasn't his original plan.

The Hork-Bajir don't seem to care that they're being mutiliated since they have the motto "Free or Dead!" and would view the scars proudly(!) but humans are more complex than that. Besides, I think any injury is not as bad as an EYE INJURY. Tobias could have just tore the guy a few scars on his skin, but NOOOO, he rips out his whole EYE.

I always found this disturbing about the Animorphs, that at times they can rationalize doing almost anything because the Controllers are "no longer human." Hey, ****s, their MINDS are still aware! (shakes head)

Their minds may be aware, but their bodies would still try to kill the Animorphs. And besides, if I were a controller I'd rather be partially blinded than have a Yeerk(I'm pretty sure the Yeerks would see impaired people a waste of time, so they'd just kill'em, which would be a lot better than being a controller by my standards)

Tobias didn't have any issues(aside from the ones when he was a normal human) when he became trapped in morph. His life got better in his eyes,he could be free and fly and just be in the world that he wanted to be in.

When it comes to fighting, you have to take what you can get.If you hurt someone by taking their eyes out with talons,do it if it means you survive longer and save your race.As far as him yelling out yee-hah and such I think he was just on the sure rush of the action going on and feeling useful to the group.

After all I think I would do the same as well, get a rush out of the fight and just yell that out..but then again that is me.

The Exposed: Tobias acquires a sperm whale, but gets his talon stuck in it!
