[spoiler]In the first 3 chapters, the Animorphs are in an alternate universe. Slavery is rampant (the slaves being people who have low IQs and/or are disabled). Even Cassie, a BLACK GIRL, has a slave! Cassie warns against discussing sensitive information around slaves, since they can still carry tales. Melissa is an Animorph, with Rachel not present. Are her parents Controllers in the alternate universe? If so, how does she avoid getting caught? There is still a Sharing. Can slaves join the Sharing? The Yeerks have a new front organization dedicated to recruiting our brave troops who are fighting to eliminate the Primitives in Brazil. But how can a Yeerk who is in a soldier in the battlefield be sure of obtaining Kandrona particles every 3 days? Cassie appears skeptical of this war, which prompts Jake to consider turning her in. Chapter 3. The Drode likes the alternate order. He likes the Empire ruled by terror and torture, the genocide to the south, the slavery, the censorship, the low technology, the poverty, the force breeding of white women to replenish the numbers of the dominant white race, and the general lack of freedom which makes the Yeerks' jobs easier. If whites are dominant, why can blacks own slaves?[/spoiler]
