For example, take this scenario.

You're a human, and you're morphing, say a starfish, something that has no head.  however, the first thing that happens is your head disappears, and thus you're a human with no head in the middle of morphing.  Lacking a head would kill you basically instantly, so might you die before you become starfish enough to survive?

This scenario never happened in the series partially due to the extreme circumstances, but that doesn't make it impossible.

I wouldn't have thought so since the starfish doesn't need a head to live. I always assumed that a morpher's mind was stored in z-space (along with excess mass) but remained linked to the body. This would explain why their minds are still intact even when morphing creatures with far smaller brains than their own.

I think the brain functioning part is explained by the Z-space thing.

As for everything else....maybe when a morpher morphs, everything happens at a cellular level, maybe even atomic level. Like all of that person's atoms are functioning by themselves as individual atoms and don't function for any particular purpose (like supporting organs, supplying blood), and when the morph is complete, then it comes back to function as a literal being. Communication between atoms would have to be through philotic links. ^^

This could also explain why morphing technology works for every species (at least the ones we know of).

nah! otherwise Elfangor <3  :<3: would have never given them the morphing technology, and i dont think hes the bad guy here!
There are many dangers for an Andalite in human morph. For one thing, there is the constant danger that you will fall off your two legs. The slightest push and you can topple over. But worst by far, is the danger of taste. Taste is the sense that can drive an Andalite mad! Especially is it involves cinnimon buns or chocolate.
