It's kind of a cliche that evil creatures inhabit dark, dismal, and dangerous places/worlds. While the good guys live in places/worlds that are a lot like ours.

There is a grain of truth to that, though. I mean, if you're living in some hell hole of a planet, you're going to be pretty bitter. Particularly if you're next to a race that has a great world, lots of space but won't let you move there. I'd be pretty pissed, too.

The thing is, though, if you're raised there, you wouldn't think of it as 'bad'.  Humans think things are bad just because our instincts tell us so.  Darkness is bad only because we can't see predators, acid rain is bad only because we are hurt by it, etc.  Thus, if you evolved to deal with certain conditions, you aren't bothered by them, and are in fact much more likely to be bothered by opposite conditions.

As a matter of fact, in book #4 and in #6 it is mentioned that when the Yeerks took over earth they would make it more like their planet.  Indicating that they don't seem to be too bitter about their planet being 'inferior' to anyone else's.

yeah...true that. they were going to convert it. maybe we see them as evil because their conditions have made them the opposite of us.

I don't think it was their homeworld that the Yeerks were bothered by. I think it was abilities that they lacked. They wanted the ability to see, for example. To manipulate objects. When they realize that other creatures have these abilities, including the ability to explore beyond their world, of course the Yeerks will want to partake.

And when they are refused the ability or made subject to Andalite authority, there will be a bit of bitterness.

Really, the Yeerks are only achieving their desires through the avenue prepared for them through evolution. Just sucks for us. :)

The Andalites successfully chose to de-urbanize.  As a Distributist, I have loads of respect for that.  So, I'd love to live with them.  But, I don't think they'd want too many humans showing up and building cities.  They'd be the galactic equivalent of the USA--complete with illegal immigration and La Migra

Hmm.  There's definite possibility for a fanfic there.  (anyone who wants the idea may have it)

huh. that's awesome! thanks for telling me.

how in the world did the yeerks ever live in an environment like that?
maybe the acid rain contains nutrients or whatever found in a yeerk pool that the yeerks need to survive...

I'd go to the Iskoorts.  Even if they are annoying, I'd rather live in a city than in the middle of nature with the Andalites or Hork-Bajir.  Plus as long as you have something good to trade they'll do pretty much whatever you want.

I choose some random, uninhabited world we can terraform. Human beings have never shown the slightest tendency, as a species, to be able to coexist peacefully with our neighbors. So yeah, we can have good relations with alien species and maybe even have some of our own live there, but to dump the whole race there? Not a good idea. Personally, I'd prefer the Iskoort world. Why? Just because the buildings are so freaking awesome! But in this instance, I went with what was best for the whole species instead of me.

If Earth is gone, let us return to Kobol, origin of the twelve human colonies.

Rabbit and we are on a Battlestar Galactica kick lately.

The universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. There is, in truth, no Past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. The only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.

If Earth exploded or otherwise became unlivable, where would you want to move?

Keep in mind that moving the human race there means coexisting with the habitat and current residents!

Initially I would pick the Andalite World, since it's most like Earth, but I'm not sure how the Andalites would feel about humanities city-building polluting ways.

Maybe Leera, since the continents are unused anyhow. I'm sure the Leerans wouldn't mind us colonizing those areas...

Wasn't the main continent blown up by the Andalites during Book 18?
