What do you guys think happened to Dude?
I mean, that cat was the first animal morphed by the Animorphs.
I'm guessing he could have run away from home or maybe he died by living under Tobias's uncle's roof.
What do you guys think?

He probably died, with Tobias being gone and all he had to die.

I suppose it depends on whether or not his Uncle cared for the cat. I believe it's said he's Tobias' cat, and not his uncle's, but I doubt they would pay extra money to ship the cat back and forth too. So he probably stayed at his uncle's house, meaning his uncle probably took fair care of the cat when Tobias disappeared.

Yeah, that was actually written quite well. Dude and Tobias ... I was half-expecting Tobias to reacquire him or something :P

I doubt that Dude would let Tobias the hawk get anywhere near him if he could help it.
But, I do hope he lived a full life, and didn't become like Fry's dog there (which, when you think about it, isn't really realistic for a cat to do, waiting around for an owner -- or maybe I've owned really independant cats). But my gut says that he suffered neglect . . .

He was living with Tobias's alcoholic uncle at the time when Tobias trapped himself in morph.
I always thought Tobias didn't really care about Dude, I mean he just left him there, assuming he trapped himself on purpose.
That assumption being a very high probability.
Maybe Dude ran away from home and became roadkill and Tobias ate it.
Tobias couldn't remember how he looked like when he was human weeks after trapping himself in morph, so I doubt he remembered what his cat looked like. Especially when it was crushed by a car and he was literally eating its heart out.

But you see other people more than you watch yourself in the mirror... I think it might be the same principle. I remember the faces of others better than I do my own.
This one was the other fic I mentioned earlier. I found it so-so. However, it managed to stand out because of its premise. Quite depressing really.

I wonder if that was an Ellimist move. If this actually happened in the Animorphs universe it seems like the kind of thing he'd do. Provide the starving Tobias with food, food happening to be Tobias' old cat.
And the whole face recognition thing...can you really remember a cat's face and distinguish it from other cats of the same species?

I think it would depend on markings. I had a dog that was mostly black, with a white spot on his chest, and some brown on his nose. So that's how I recognized him from any other mid sized black dog.

They probably had a very normal life until the end...I think Euclid would have normal life all the way, Homer...yeah, once the entire family are controllers, I don't think they'd care as much. I think Fluffy would be the same as Euclid, but after the war, luffy would probably still have the best life, because of Mellisa

I have a horrible feeling they may have all just died bar Fluffer :( there was no mention of Homer after the way and Euclid didn't make it to the Hork-Bajir valley BAAWWWWW

trying not to get too of topic, cats and dogs are both nice, if you know what you can and can't do with them (eg, cats don't trust to to pet it's tummy unless the cat REALLY trusts you)
And yeah, Euclid is probably the most likely to die, considering that his owner is a controller (but then again, if she kills or lets him go, then I guess she'll get fired)

I still remember how Visser 3 described cats in #2. I agree with it wholeheartedly.

I doubt that anything happened to those animals. Controllers do take care of pets, you know. Hell, even Visser Three's a cat person.

I'm just imagining houses getting draconed with said pets inside D: I bet a few controllers got attached to pets.
It is accepted Aniverse canon that Visser Three is undoubtedly a cat person :kitty:

Not like I doubt you, but wasn't it book 2 when you find out Visser 3 is a cat person?

He shows interest in both house cats and Jake's morph a few times. Not saying he'd be walking around holding a cat or anything, but I think he believes cats look cool. Which they do.
That's a nice pic. I was thinking more of villainous feline stroking, though.

I think it was in book one when he bigged up Jake's tiger morph as well as Rachel attacking Chapman in Fluffer mode in the second book.

We can only speculate.
I'm guessing Fluffer is:
1) Alive and well with Melissa Chapman
2) Died (either when Tobias and Marco used the tank to hit Chapman's house or sometime between or after the war)
Homer:
1) When Tom had his parents infested, he killed the dog because it belonged to Jake, and Jake was proven to be one of the morph capable humans.
2) He survived that incident
3) Jake let him go because he reminded him too much of his past life
4) Homer died
Euclid:
1) Yeerks killed the dog and was fed to the Taxxons
2) Ran away
3) Animal Control found it on the streets and it was later adopted at the pound
4) Couldn't handle street life and died
Wow, death is everywhere.
I could care less about Fluffer or Euclid, but Homer, I hope that old dog lived :)

Knowing cats (having three myself) I would imagine Dude would just wait until Tobias' uncle opened the door to go out/come in and would make a run for it, then probably never come back, and even he did return Tobias' uncle probably wouldn't let him in.
So, I presuming Dude either became feral or found a new home.

Good point :) I think maybe K.A. might have forgotten about him xD I know that happens to me sometimes when I'm writing, I'll bring in a character and then be like, "Aw, forgot him again" or this author called Erin Hunter who repeatedly kills her characters off only to reincarnate them later xD That and she has gender bender problems- guys turn into girls and vice versa... xD

Why would Tobias need to reacquire Dude? Shouldn't he still have Dude's DNA in him from the first time?
I bet that lots of pets died when the Yeerk pool blew up and collapsed the town!
