Hi my name Dru, I was once a regular kid who did regular things, but i don't even remember those times, it feels like ages ago. Honestly I regret even saying that I was once normal, because you are never once normal, it's either you aren't normal or you become strange and delusional. I wish this is a delusion, being able to morph into aliens and fight an alien invasion would be fun for me if I was 6 and didn't know anything about war, but this is intense, Like losing sleep, risk of dying intense. I wonder why I even agreed to doing this sometimes. Right then my alarm clock went off, I got up from my bed. I wasn't even sleeping because I knew all I would have is nightmares.

My name is Sean. I could tell you my last name, but I like keeping my freedom. What do I have to worry about my freedom for, you ask? Well, the exact opposite: enslavement, absolute and total enslavement. My body, mind, and... abilities become the property of something else. Not someone, something. They're called Yeerks, those that would enslave me; as they would enslave you, and every living soul on this planet. These Yeerks are a sapient parasitic alien. They're like a slug that crawls inside your ear, flattens itself out, wraps itself around your brain and hijacks all of your synapses. It taps directly into your brain, reroutes every electrical signal however it wants. It reads your thoughts, your memories, even your desires. They take complete control of you. You don't breathe, it does. When you want to look around, nothing happens unless it wants to. You become a prisoner within your own body; like being completely paralyzed, except your body continues to move. They use your voice, your mannerisms, your inside jokes. No one around you can tell you've changed. If you had an identical twin, even they could be fooled by the act these Yeerks put on.
This is what my friends and I have been fighting for the last couple of years. To free the Human race, to make sure these parasites don't suck our world dry; as they've done to many worlds before. That's right, there are "other" worlds. Other alien races that have fallen to these slugs; but we will be different. We won't go down so easy. How do we fight an enemy we can't see, you ask? Well, it helps to be invisible yourself. No, we don't actually turn invisible, but we might as well. My friends and I have an ability, a power if you will. We can metamorphose into animals, any animal. If it has DNA, we can become it. Granted, we can only stay that creature for two hours, but two hours is plenty of time to bust an area to hell and get out. You'd be surprised what we can accomplish in two hours. I certainly have been. Unfortunately, we have a friend that wasn't able to revert before his timer went off. He's had to live with the price of becoming a Nothlit. Fortunately for him, The Ellimist was kind to him and gave him his powers back; though his hawk body is now considered his original body, and he has to revert to it every two hours.
Now we weren't born with these abilities. We received them from another alien; this one was a good alien though. This alien also fights the Yeerks. He gave us this power to morph. It was a weird experience. He could speak to us using his mind. I always thought telepathy was some crazy theory, of course I thought the same thing about aliens too. He warned us about the Yeerks and what they've been doing here on Earth, and what they plan to do to it. I was only 13 at the time. I was on my way to a Marine recruitement office to talk about fighting for my country. I ended up getting recruited into a different war, fighting for all of Humanity, and we've been fighting ever since.
I was outside Dru's house, throwing pebbles at his window, trying to get his attention. Unfortunately, my phone was being dominated by my sister. She's always on our phone when she's not out with her friends. I still don't know what she does during the day. She's extremely secretive about it. I assume it's chick stuff. She talks about going to the beach, taking road trips, sleepovers. The last part definitely gets my attention, a sleepover with a bunch of 18 year-olds? The imagination wanders.
Luckily for me, before she took over the phone line, Dereck called me. Dereck is our friend. He's kind of like a spy, he and his family are always in the loop when it comes to Yeerk activity. He's not a Controller, but the Yeerks think he is. He's actually an android. He's called a Chee. I know it sounds like a version of a Nintendo console; but he's a LOT more advanced than any gaming system. He poses as Human-Controller and gathers information about the Yeerks. Before, all the Chee did was observe. They couldn't do anything because of their programming. They're physically unable to cause (directly or indirectly) harm. To any living sentient being. At all. That's why they're a spy network, and not back up. He's great for intelligence and cover; but not useful in combative situations. He just sort of sits there.
Anyhow, Dereck called me up with important information; and I had to tell Dru.

I heard tapping on my window and looked out of it, and saw my friend Sean. <Dude, what do you need? I literally just woke up!>

My name is Kira.
I could explain the secret alien invasion our enemies, the Yeerks, have been doing on the down low to "recruit" humans to become slaves to them. To me, the worst part about it is that this massive enemy is no bigger than a large mouse that looks like a slug with flippers. With the massive population of our planet, it got the Yeerk Empire's interest and now they're here.
With that fateful day when Dru, Sean, Tobias ((is he still doing this?)) and I got to meet our first alien and got a weapon to try to stop the Yeerks' invasion. The ability to morph. The ability to turn into any animal whether it is mammal, bird, reptile, insects, weird ocean creatures, and yes... Even humans. For me, I don't got a problem with turning into someone else if I have to. It is not like I am hijacking their brain to make it my home like the Yeerks do.
The things I could tell you would fill up more pages than all of Harry Potter series combine but maybe one day, if we win, we can tell our tale.
But for right now, I was biking my way to Dru's house. Usually we try to get together in person on weekends if we can. If not, it is when we all talk on XBOX Live when we play Halo. When we found our first allies, the Chee, one of them made this awesome device that wires into their Chee network system so the audio of us three talking will sound like other people playing that they recorded prior. It's like Ventrilo for freedom fighters.
I parked my bike against the wooden fence on his parents' front porch and walked over to knock on the door.

I ran downstairs, in a white wifebeater and my plaid boxers. I answered the door to see Kira, "Is this just a party at my house, if it is can i at least get dressed first." I said sarcastically

" Hey! You were the one that set up this meeting early in the morning, not me. It's not my fault you are sawing redwoods in your sleep." I smiled half-sarcastic and half-pleased with myself. "I am not wearing a derby dress and goofy hat for no one, thank you. Remember that we couldn't meet at my house because my parents are putting on a party with almost hundred yuppie people. So I'm more than happy to be here." With that, I slid by Dru and entered the house.

I ran upstairs and put on a Kobe Byrant Jersey and matching shorts. "I did plan this, but a man can't get his rest" I said with a groan. "Have you seen Tobias today?"

I was about to respond to Dru, when I saw Kira ride by and go to the front door. I decided to run up with her instead. I got to the front door when I saw Dru running back up the stairs. I asked her, "A bit abrasive, isn't it? Don't you think his parents will mind?"
When Dru came back dressed and asked his question, I shook my head, "No, he's probably hunting something. Ax should be along with him too. Having the meeting here at your place would be a bit weird, wouldn't it? I don't want to be in the middle of a conversation and have your parents walk in. Where should we go?"

"Let's head to the skatepark." I told my friends. I went into my room and grabbed my skateboard off my wall. "No one will be at the skatepark at this time of the day, and I never use this skateboard." I said montion to the skateboard in my hands, I don't skateboard, but this has been in my room as decoration for awhile now.

I got ready to leave, not bringing a helmet. "Okay guys, lets go!" I was actually looking forward to skateboarding and not the mission briefing.

I nod my head and run to the back of the house, retrieving my bike. I return, bike in tow. I hop on and follow Dru to our meeting destination.

I rolled my eyes playfully with a "of course, the skatepark" expression and exited the house to get back on my bike. But I roll with it because of the idea of good time of privacy for us.
I got on my bike and waited to Sean. In some way it felt like we had our little gang, with the advantage of our very own eye-in-the sky with Tobias, but it always felt good for all of us to hang. Even though when we try to get Ax used to new things being in human morph, sometimes we had to treat his walking and balance like he's a toddler. So we always made sure that he sat down on the concrete or bench when we're in public.

I got on my skateboard and led the 1 and a half mile ride, we got there in about 8 minutes. No one was there but a group of kids our age smoking dope in the bathroom. "Oh yeah, this is why I never go here." I muttered to my friends as we walked into the entrance.

I looked around the skatepark. It was fairly decent. I saw a distance from the restrooms, a collection of pools. I nod in that direction and say, "Over there. Try to make it look good just in case, huh?" I took off looking like a kid in Disneyland. I rode up and down a few quarter pipes, not actually getting air, but building speed. I launched off a couple of jumps and spun my handlebars. I made my way to the pools, jumped down into one, and when I got near the bottom, I circled inward toward the center tighter and tighter, pumping my brake 'til I got the bike to look like it had crashed. Really I had slowed it enough where I wasn't hurt; but if anyone came across us, it would look like were talking about the crash.
I yell out from the bowl, "Over here!" and waited for the others. I laid back on the cement with my legs still hooked strategically in my bike's frame. I sent out privately to the two of them, <<Don't actually jump down into the bowl please.>>

I walked over to the bowl <<Watch out we got a badass over here.>> I said sarcastically. I wondered how Sean even did that, I tried to skate on the half-pipes almost completely forgetting the fact that I don't know how to skate and people were looking at me as if I was an idiot. <<What was the thing you wanted to tell me.>> I asked my friends, so I can forget about me getting hurt.

My name is Tobias. I can't tell you my last name or where I live...heck I don't really even remember my last name. Anyway, I'm one of the only people who can protect Earth from the Yeerks. The Yeerks are slug like creatures that crawl in your head and takes over your mind. Really weird and creepy. And you never know when someone is a Yeerk, your best friend, your mom...your brother.
I was flying overhead in my normal job of keeping watch of known controllers and watching as they go.I am a red-tailed hawk a nothlit in the words of Andalite's. A person trapped in morph but more recently I had been giving my powers to morph again but I only use it when I can help the group cause I like to stay in my hawk self.
As I watched the controllers, decided to go check in on my friends. I saw as they went to the skatepark and flew over head as I smiled alittle to myself even though I was a hawk now I did still like watching my friends.<Hey guys.>I called down in thought-speak as I flew down and landed on a tree branch nearby the bowl.

I looked up at Tobias, <<We got some pretty important news.>> I told him. I got myself off the floor, brushed off my skinned knee, and sat down on the bench nearest the bowl.

After the short ride to the skatepark and parking my bike next to the boys', I started down the ramp that was close to the bowl as I heard Sean's thought-speak. "Oi vey." I said to no one, pretending to look like Sean was being ****y with his tricks.
Without moving my head upwards, I heard Tobias. < Heya, Tobias. Already had breakfast?> I got to the boys and just folded my arms, pretending to survey the mess.

I laid on the floor wondering why Dru went back up to a nearby bench. I gave Kira a nod and called out to the two, <<Guys, c'mon down here. Down here, no one can see us. If someone happens by, it'll look like you're helping me up.>>
I looked up at the passing silhouette of our friend, I asked in a normal tone without raising my voise, " Tobias, you can here us down here alright, right? It may look odd if a hawk is hanging around a crashed biker."

I ran into and jumped into the bowl, hurting my ankles.

I chuckled as Dru ran and ended up hurting his ankles. He's so accident prone. I thought as I knelt down to where Sean's legs were entangled with the bike. " You're not going to try to be one of those extreme sports guys going for the gold or something?" I was just trying to act normal if anyone saw up. So under my breath I whispered. "What's up?"

I laughed at Kira, "Sean? Extreme sports? HA!" <<No seriously, what is it that you neeed to tell us.>> I said becoming a bit agitated.

I nodded as I folded my wings and looked around.<Yeah I already ate, a pretty big mouse.>before lowering my head and I begin to preen some feathers.<Yeah I can hear from here.>

I nodded to Tobias and gave a "very funny" smirk to Kira, replying, "Don't be jealous just because you didn't think of a proper cover story first."
I gave a more serious look to my team mates and said, "I got a call from Dereck this morning. The Yeerks are planning something big soon. He doesn't have a time table yet. They're supposed to get more details tonight at the next Sharing meeting."
I saw a silhouette peek over the bowl and I gave a slight, "Aw, dammit," playing the part. The form came into view, it was Ax. He called out, "Good morning Prince Sean, are you not well?"
I rolled my eyes and said, "Hi Ax, no I'm not hurt. C'mon down here before you draw a crowd. If those stoners see you staring into this bowl, they may want to see what's so interesting."
Ax nodded wordlessly, he's become more used to Human mannerisms than when we first came upon him in the ocean, trapped in his Dome Ship. Ax is an Andalite, his real name is Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill. He's the brother of the Andalite that gave us this power to morph, Elfangor. As it turns out, Elfangor had been to Earth before that night he crashed at that construction site; because Elfangor is also the father of our friend Tobias. I know it sounds like some weird soap opera; but it's the truth.
Ax sat on the bowl's lip and slid down, sitting next to Dru. He smiled to the others and said, "Good morning. I apologize for my tardiness. I became confused between a skate park and state park. Many Humans I asked for directions told me to go many miles out of town."

I turned my head as I looked at Ax who was in reality was my uncle which was really weird and the same Elfangor was my dad...yeah my life really is screwed up as I sent Ax a private message.<Hey Ax-man sorry I didn't visit eariler, I had to go out early and get something to eat then go on patrol.>It was the truth and even though it was I felt kindof bad to stand up Ax like that since I always visited him and this was a rare time I didn't.

I tried not to look at Ax, I scooted a couple inches away from him. I didn't want someone I know to see me with him, he was kinda strange in human morph and can lower my reputation. "That's Dereck for you, something big planned, but won't even tell us." I shrugged, "So are we gonna go to the sharing meeting, or will we want Dereck to tell usabout it when he is done?"

I rolled my eyes at Dru's weird aversion to Ax. After his remark and question, I replied, "He doesn't know any more than we do. He's told me all he knows. Remember, he's playing the role of a low level Controller. He's going to be told more info tonight. I figured we cold go ourselves and get the information first hand."

<<What morph? I prefer Human, because it is easier, and the yeerks won't expect it being us. Please not insects.>> I hated being in insect morph, but i don't mind it when necessary. I instinctively looked around to see who was watching us.

I tried to hide a smirk from Ax's misdirections but only pretended to cough to cover a slight chuckle. << Well it depends on which entrance we take. If one of us go human and all of us go... say mice and hide in a hoodie pocket or something.>> I just threw out the idea.
I pretended to look over Sean to see if he was injured and put my hands out to him. "You goin' to lay there all day or do we got to carry you?"

<<Should we draw straws for human? I sure as heck wanna be human.>> I looked at Ax, watching the crackheads in the distance. "Where is the meeting gonna be held?" I asked Sean.

Ax looked into the sky, looking for Tobias. He gave a reply only to Tobias, <<It is alright Tobias. I had an interesting encounter with a hiker that occupied my time. She was riding a bicycle through the woods. I told her I did not believe those to be very efficient means of travelling in such dense foliage. She then countered by mocking me for walking through without shoes. We had a discussion about the indigenous Humans that lived here before your Europeans came and settled these lands. It was very educational. I enjoyed it.>>
I looked at my legs and back at Kira, "Kira, this is a ruse in case someone walks by and sees us huddled at the bottom of a pool. Normally it would look weird if a group of kids were just hanging out in the bowl of an empty-ish skate park. If they see one kid that looks like he crashed, then they'll assume you're helping me. Thanks for the concern though."
I shook my head at Dru, "No one's going as a Human. We're talking about an inner circle meeting. They're going to know everyone there. So we have to be small, but still be able to know and even if possible, see what's going on. I already asked Dereck, and he's agreed to carry us on his body. He can extend his hologram to include us, and if anyone gets close to touching us, Dereck will just act like his 'personal space' is being invaded and move away."
Ax rejoined the conversation and asked, "Prince Sean, I don't believe any of us have an animal that would be able to see well enough while being small enough to be carried by the Chee."
I smiled and replied, "That's why I wanted to talk to you guys before The Gardens closed. We're getting a new morph."

I put on a sly grin. "Well Sean, why won't you tell us what it is, is it good? Will it be amazing?" I taunted

I gave Sean a little annoyed look of "I was trying to act normal, so sue me" at him but after a mention of a new animal intrigued me. " Nothing with more than four legs right? I still cringe when I got to give my dog and cat their flea and tick meds on their backs. I feel kind of bad for them. Like I'm killing the flea's relatives."

My eyes look down at Ax as I laughed alittle in his head.<Ha really Ax?>I said as I wasn't all that surprised he talked with someone but the subject was very neat.

Ax replied, <<Indeed.>> He then said, "I too would enjoy a mammal rather than an insect. Mam-mall. Mall. Mam."
I smiled, I knew the news of a new morph would entice them to go along with the plan. I replied, "No, they've got four. My mom told me about 'em. She just got a mating pair for the zoo. I made an appointment to go see them; she can get us access to play with 'em. Them's the perks of your mom being secretary to the main administrator."
I worked my legs free from the bike and stood up. I mounted the bike and said, "Let's go." I then rode into an adjoining bowl, went up and down, building speed. I then went straight up over the lip of the pool and landed outside the bowl. I called back, "My mom said we have until her boss gets back from lunch. So if we hurry, we can get there before her boss even leaves."

<Let's go then.>I replied and jumped off my branch and flew straight up into the air, gaining height in the air to keep watch on them also to still do a small controller watch.

I got up grabbed my skateboard and started to follow Sean. "You still haven't told me what they are!" I said, getting annoyed.

I sighed with Sean's answer about it being not an insect. So as I saw him go out of the bowl with Dru shortly following with his skateboard, I ran up the side to the bowl where the stairs were and go to my own bike and started off.
<< I love it when we're like this,>> I said in private thought-speak to my little group. < It almost feels... Normal. Being with friends going on our own teenage adventures, just minus the alien invasion.> I grinned to myself as I sped up.

<<Really now Kira, you just used the words normal and alien invasion in the same sentence.>> I shook my head as I watched Ax, head into the woods. He was a mixture of all of our DNA he had Kira's eyes Sean's figure and my voice, but only in a different pitch. It is a technique called frolis manuevers that Ax taught us, it is quite useful. I let Sean lead the way to our trip to The Gardens.

I grumbled internally at Dru's comment. Oh one of these days Dru. I thought and changed the gears on my bike to catch alongside Sean.

I watched Ax going to the woods, so I decided to atleast watch over the others to The Garden then go back to patrolling the town.

I replied back letting everyone hear, <<Do I ever?>> I flash a charismatic, yet mischevious grin before taking off full speed.
As Dru and Kira banter, I hear her bike catching up. I slow down let her get beside me. I reach out and pat her once on the back, then regain my grip on my handlebars. I yell to her, "You and me both. What's the point of all this fighting, if we can't enjoy what we're fighting for?"
I looked up and saw a harrier above us. I smiled and called out, <<Couldn't catch up on foot Ax?>>
Ax flew high, pushed up by the thermals of the road. He kept distance from Tobias so it wouldn't look weird, the two of them sharing the same airspace. He replied, <<I could, Prince Sean, however that would require I "catch up" in my natural form. I do not believe it would be wise for me to do so in this public area.>>
I swallow my immediate response and nod replying, <<Too true Ax, good thinking.>>

As we were nearing The Gardens parking lot I wondered what the new animal will be. It has 4 legs and we are allowed to play with it. <<Since we are here can you tell us what the animal is?>> I really wanted to know because the suspense was killing me.

I looked back at Ax as I raised up on a thermal to make it not look like I was too close to Ax.<Hey Ax, relax alittle on your wings.>I said as I had way too much time flying compaired the others.

I slalomed through cars, SUVs, and the occasional motorcycle. I checked my watch and saw the time my mom had told me was fast approaching. If we timed it right, we'd be showing up as her boss was leaving. I ignored Dru's pestering and parked my bike. I saw my mom at the exit, asking her boss a couple of questions. I assume she did this as a ruse so she had an excuse to greet us. Otherwise we'd have had to pay.
I look up at Ax and say, <<Hey Ax, there should be a white, green, and purple SUV that are surrounding a motorcycle. You should be able to morph there.>>
I opened my backpack and took out my handling glove my mom gave me. I put it on and reached my hand out. I called out to Tobias, <<C'mon buddy, you know the drill, try to stay on the glove this time. Last time the zoo keepers almost tranquilized you. I'd rather avoid that this time around.>>

I walked over to Kira and asked "What animal do you think we are going to see." I hoped that her guess will be better than mine. I am not the worlds smartest person.

I nodded and replied back.<Yes yes I know you always have to remind me of the worst parts huh?>I shot back and flapped down and landed on the glove.<Jeesz give a hawk a break.>
