Note: Below are main and secondary characters. Minor characters, that appear in only one book, for example, can be done by anyone (I think). Better check to see, first, just in case I'm wrong.

yea we should get some announcements out there that tobias is up for grabs, its been through the audiobook boards for awhile so i think all of the people with minor parts have had their chance to claim it
maybe we should make a thread in the general board or something, get the word out

I would recommend getting a cheap one, but cheap mics produce cheap sound, so if you really feel like getting a mic, get a decent one. I don't have any real ideas for a good cheap mic because I'm using a professional vocals mic through a powered mixer. Yay for a musical family!

the holdup...is I don't know. I'm just in charge of my (note the use of the word my) cast list.
just do any character that comes up in the books. just don't do any of the main or secondary characters up there unless the original person left. How about estrid...no one's claimed that yet.

I can help with voices I don't have any of the books right now they are all packed away from a recent so I would need to get a hold of the lines some how, unless someone has made scripts for them then that would be great.

Great, but you should first choose who you want to do. There are a couple of choices on the first page, as well as ones that are already taken. You can also choose a main character I haven't put on the list yet. and anybody can do a minor part if they want to.

wow 100? But each people can do many different characters. May be you can find softwares who can help to change the voices...

the recording we're using can change pitch frequency, all that stuff. So no problem there. The cast isn't really the problem...well right now it is. We really need a visser one right now.

I might be able to do it... Visser One doesn't appear in the same books as Jordan or Aldrea, so even if there's a slight similarity in the voices, it won't be a big deal. Especially since I'd be using a different tone of voice between them, since I obviously wouldn't make a little girl sound the same as an Arrogant Andalite or a Yeerk Visser.
Although technically I'd be doing Eva, right? Then someone else would have to do the actual Yeerk's voice when we get to Visser... But we'll jump that bridge when we get there, I guess.

I'm pretty sure I've checked as well and there aren't any. Cassie's parents are always conveniently out of the house, save the one scene with her dad in the beginning.

Anyways, my brother is willing to do the voice. Personally, I think he'll do a good job but I'll leave the part open for about a week or so.

Right, so, I know I said that I'd do the Dolphin Trainer, like, a week ago, but I've been sleeping in a bit too much and haven't had time before work, and only get home from work after everyone else in the house is asleep. However, tomorow is my day off, so I'll try to get it done then.
Granted, I'm also starting a sinus cold, so hopefully that won't affect my voice too much. @_@.

I think the Drode's androgynous. I mean, I always refer to the Drode as a 'he', but a female voice could work, if it's not obviously female, if you get my meaning

i've recorded everything for book 4, and everything for the first five chapters of book five. it all still needs to be tweaked, but the main problem is i still don't have the internet set up in my room. I don't know how long it will be

I don't know. I think people need to look at the taken parts as well, so they know if a part they want is already taken. I haven't listed every available character yet, so it's kinda necessary.

I've been using GarageBand to record, but I don't think every version of Apple computers has it.

If you have Quicktime Pro you can record from there. But if not, try out Voice Candy (http://www.potionfactory.com/voicecandy/) which has a 15 day trial period.
What kind of Mac do you have? If you have a relatively newer one it might be easier because of the built in mic.

the ultimate character would actually be one of the animorphs. the ellimist doesn't have much lines until the ellimist chronicles.
you are now temrash 114...since you only talk in one book, would you please do them now so that even if you don't visit often, we have something to use?

Sure I'll get on that. And sure the animorphs are great and all, but the ellimist fell into a black hole and lived, that's a different lvel of epic. Either way forget it. EVeryone gets an opinion here.

well in the book, it's in thought-speak marks (<,>) so I'd say yes it is thought-speak, however a bit different from normal thought-speak...

Okay, I can't find any way to say this without sounding totally conceded and self-obsessed, so here it is. I do a ton of acting, it's crazy. I have played as young as a five year old girl to The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera. And a dopey dragon once. Odd play. Anyway, If you need a voice, I'm your girl.
I have way too much time on my hands, so I can do as many voices as needed.

If you guys still need voice actors, I'm available. I'm not entirely certain how to do this though. Would i need anything special (software-wise) to record? I have a simple laptop running Vista.
I'm from the heartland of CA, I love accents, and can do many different voices. If you need extras, sound effects, I can do evil/rough/gruff voices. I may be a good Hork-Bajir. I'm 23 yrs old, so i could do some parents, or police/doctors/guards etc.
Should i record my regular voice so someone can cast me accordingly, or what would you suggest?

Our top priority is getting the members we already have to start working more... and to not leave RAF...
I've noticed some members on the cast list that don't seem to be active anymore...elelohest erling, beachbeagle, and Vivi9087. Are we going to make those spots open, or wait for some kind of communication from those members?

I also thought of The Drode as being slightly demented, but not full out wacko nuts, you know. Just demented enough to enjoy and revel the havoc and chaos it wrought with The Crayak's permission. Kind of like Brad Pitt's character in 12 Monkeys, without the ticks and twitches.
Or i could make him sound more like a jovial jester delighting in the disasters his master is allowing him to be the messenger for.

I can do Mrs. Chapman and Edriss 562 (Visser One). I'm a girl, but I can do a guy's voice if that's needed. I can do decent Scottish, French, and British accents (not sure what you'd need them for, but I figured better to mention than not).

Accent are awesome! whether or not we find any in the series is the clincher. Welcome to the project, you may want to check out the cast list on page one to see any characters you want. If you can think of any characters not on the list, be sure to grab 'em.
though I don't think it's been updated lately, I've taken the roles of Jake's father and The Drode.
If you want the best quality in your recordings, i suggest bactracking this forum and downloading the Audacity (It's free!) software that wild suggests and using that instead of the standard Sound Recorder. Unless of course, you already have an audio recording software.

I've seen that Jara Hamee is avalaible and I think I could play the role. I don't have much free time, but Jara has few lines. I'm 23 years old and really like to play with my voice, and as a Brazillian maybe my accent could give add something "alien" to Jara's voice heuhehe...

We're setting up a fancy site to handle the whole thing. Check the thread at the top of the board for details.
The system will have people editing scripts of sorts, so you will get individual parts to read, that you can then upload back to the site. Weathel and I are both getting more free time, so we should be picking up soon.

I posted this in Production plan, but I'll repost here. Weathel, morf and I have been PMing each other to get the new site ready for use. We're all busy, so it's been going slow. Once we're sure that the site will run, it will mostly manage itself.
Jess, I'm sure Weathel will sign you up as soon as he can.
As for recording/posting lines, everyone hold off until the system is running, then you will be able to post lines whenever you want and they will be delivered to the appropriate person.
TL;DR: We're working on it. Just give us a bit more.

Maybe you could have every new person whos interested post a quick sample just to hear what they sound like. Then you can use all the newly opened roles to find them one that fits based on their sound and their availability. So everyone whos interested will still get a role but it wont quite be first come first serve like it usually goes.

Seal- I think we're waiting until August 16th before we look for people to fill roles we haven't heard about. We had said we'd give everyone 2 weeks to respond (at least I think that's what we agreed on.)
Also, we're going to need someone to play 3 roles in MM1 (Chapters 4 and 5, I believe.) It's three girls at a party. The part is labeled "Party Girls" on the audiobook site, if anyone is interested in playing it. I figured we could have 1 person take that role and we could use audiosoftware to change how it sounds?

Anyways as ive said I have done English dubbing before and wouldn't mind lending my voice. My voice type is Youthful, Deep, 15-25 with a specalization in support characters that are "serious" and "Extraverted".
Anyways based on the main page it actualy seems like you don't need much of anyone. Although I have noticed you have alot of repeated actors. Nothing a decent voice synther can't fix though right :D

Yeah. I asked for people to commit, and have asked for people to put their roles up...but it's not so much happening. A project like the E-books is so much easier. You can be independent and do it at your own pace. This project is such a huge collaboration, and involves so many people, it's difficult unless everyone is willing to really do their part and do it in a timely manner.
So, when people are ready to really get to work on this, I'm game, and I'm willing to keep doing my part. However, until then...? It can't work unless everyone does their part. :)

Adam, if there are any other parts that we need people for, just start making a list. I created segments, and figured we'd get someone to do it as we go along.
Another option is to have one female do all of the female bit acting for MM1, and a male do all of the male. I'm more than willing to do any of the other 1-2 line parts that come up. I think i took a couple already closer to the beginning of the book.

Go ahead and record what you'd like for the part you'd like. However, it takes a lot of work to create the different segments for each character on the drupal site, so you're not going to be able to upload them until we get to those books. You will either have to save them on your computer and come back when we get to that book, otherwise, you can look into uploading it to a drop site, where it can be kept until we're able to get the segments up and ready.
Also, I need your e-mail address and what you'd like for a user name on the drupal site so I can get you set up over there.

Seraph, you don't need to worry about putting it together or getting lines from actors. Guy and I will take care of procuring lines from actors, as we don't want people getting directions from several people. The only thing that you need to do is listen to each set of lines, and make sure they sound good.

ok than yeah they sound good except a part of Jakes lines around the two minute mark that needs editing out and Tobias's lines need to be made thought speaky and you have to edit out the mistakes in Marco's but the parts that are good are really good.
Anyways why not let me put them together? Didn't you say that you were really busy this year? I just figured it would be easier on you.

In terms of mistakes, it's much easier to just leave them in and edit them out in post-processing than it is to stop a recording, back up, and start again. So just ignore lines with mistakes as long as there's a good take somewhere in there.
Thought-speech will be done by timers, and I need to go find the effect. It takes some work to do well.

actually I have been sayying I would like to do Elfangor. Personally I would love to have a major part, but perhaps not for 54 books. This would leave me with a part for 5 books and only 3 major books.

I would be willing to give elfangor a try also, I have a mic. I could get a sample done and see if you like it. But I wouldn’t really want to do the effects for thought speech, but I think someone else already said they were willing to do that.
I'm not sure who is taken so far.. haha, I am aware that tobias has been a challenge. I'd be willing to give anything a try. But they will have an australian accent.

Seal is correct. We are working on MM1 at this time, and do not need anymore voice actors for this book. We've also set a requirement that anyone new to the project must be willing to help with directing/timing before they're allowed to put in for an acting role.

I work a full time job that i'm at from 6am-4pm every day. When I finish that one, three nights a week I do behavioral therapy with a kid with autism for 3 hours. I also work with him every Saturday and Sunday morning. I have a father with terminal colorectal cancer, a step sister who is crashing and burning because she is losing her dad for the second time in her life, and all of my other family live halfway across the country. So excuse me if I don't feel like working for the approximate 12 waking hours I have at home a week.

I meant that we don't need timers and directors immediately, just in the near future. If I'm not mistaken, there's still a lot of work on each individual person. And just because you send two or three polite reminders does not mean you can switch to being really rude all of a sudden.

Telling someone you don't have time to do something that doesn't really take that much time to begin with, but that you will do it, and then months go by even though you get reminders, well, in my book that's just REALLY rude. Not only were her messages and posts misleading (by all means, that's rude!), she wasted my time (this is also rude!) and totally ignored me (rude!!!).
IF she'd posted "We will need directors/timers in the future, but not right now. You can sign up, but I don't know when or if you'll be added at all.", then things would have been different.

Saying you don't have the time (WHEN YOU DON'T) is not rude. Purposefully yelling at people, telling them they should get other people to do their jobs, then calling THEM rude I define as rude. Maybe it wouldn't take much time. Maybe it would. Whatever. We generally work well with people who cooperate and are patient. If you're not needed at this point in time, maybe Jess can wait to add you so she can deal with the aforementioned stress in her life.

Yes, there is a thread entitled site sign-up. It was created immediately after the site was set up. We don't go back and specifically edit the post to refuse sign-ups.
Yes, in general we will need more people in post-processing than actors. At the moment, the project is (obviously) progressing very slowly, and as such, there's really not room for a full setup of timers/directors.
If a role has been previously assigned to an actor, that role will not change unless the actor gives up their role, or they are absent without any given reason or return date for an extended time.
Please understand that although you may be very enthusiastic about the project, we all were at one point. (Does anyone remember when we met over teamspeak still?) Eventually we discover that life gets in the way. I'm busy applying for colleges, Jess has quite clearly stated her situation. We all want to work on this, but a little patience is in order.
Now, who is actually playing Darlene? Jess, is it still you?

Well I appreciate the attention on this thread, so I'll just kinda dump my thoughts on the project here... Here goes.
The most important thing is the principal cast, which currently stands as follows:
Jake -- Me
Rachel -- Seal
Tobias -- Slushie
Cassie -- Jess
Marco -- Duff
Ax -- Parker/Gahnkruun*
The most important thing is getting these recordings. This is the part that I hate... I am perfectly capable of being a major bastard and shouting in people's faces to get stuff done (ask Seal), if they are people I know who have a commitment to the work. This is a volunteer project. All of us have lives outside the internet (*le gasp*) and may have to go weeks or months without being able to spend lots of time on this. Everyone who has contributed anything at all has done much more than they're getting compensated for. Because of all this, it's difficult for me to point fingers at anyone to get their work in. We've all been guilty of not doing stuff at one point or another (except Duff) so there isn't any one person to single out either.
When I do have all the parts for a given chapter, it generally takes only a day or two for post-production, then another day or two to get them to Richard and uploaded. In the case of bit parts, typically someone has offered to do it, or someone recruits (conscripts) a friend to do it. Failing that, I will PM one of the people who have offered.
The other thing is the lack of overall coordination. The main site itself does a great job of managing audio files, and we could be using it much more than we do. However, there is still a great deal of coordination done here, which leads to several problems. First of all, people either check this section of the forum regularly, or don't check it at all. Sometimes I try to fix this with crossposts into General, but this leads to other problems, namely the need to edit. If I have to manually edit posts to convey changing information, things will naturally be incomplete or out-of-date. This leads to problems like the current Ax casting.

Second, I want your input. I proposed this project, but that's really the only claim I have over it. (Sorta Jake-ish, isn't it?) I'm not sure what to do with the project, really. So what do you all think?

Regarding the casting for Ax... I knew it was iffy in your PM response. You shouldn't have made me do my lines if there was still the consideration of the other candidate. I was a little ambitious and went ahead anyway so I apologise in advance for all members involved. I will like to make it easier for you to decide as I am telling you now that if the other Ax does better than your most logical decision would be to choose him over me. I won’t be discouraged, though I would still like to help in the project some way, timing, organisation, sound effects, music… I can see what I can do but I dunno.
For now my recording is on hold till there is clarity over Ax’s casting. I will fight for the position of courses. I can even submit on what I have done on chapter 15 for you to listen to as I have been trying hard to improve over my audition recording.
Second, I want your input. I proposed this project, but that's really the only claim I have over it. (Sorta Jake-ish, isn't it?) I'm not sure what to do with the project, really. So what do you all think?

Agreed. The main site’s last post was from 2 years ago. It would be better to have all project related information transferred to the other website instead and post in the main forum for call outs or other volunteering work. I have worked in a project (not necessarily voice acting and what not but being part of a team of workers) and the communication isn’t that easily established. My very one feature I would like added is to have the main blog be allowed to be posted by all members involved in the project for work related blog posts such as posting absenses, progress update, community assets available to all – anything that benefits the project. It would also be nice to have something similar to this thread (http://animorphsforum.com/index.php?topic=8458.0) on the site as well so we all know what has been done, and what needs to be done: a clean record of information.

I mostly went for the Ax role 'cause I was excited as to getting a main character role. However, as I already have three other roles (albiet sporadic), 'Hruun can have the role of Ax.
As far as checking this forum, I check my replied posts constantly, and I've replied in almost all of these threads. So if there's a new posting, I normally catch it. There are days when I can't get on this site, work, family, etc, but I make it a concentrated effort to respond promptly.
What input are you asking towards? How the project is going? If we should continue? How we think we can inspire the actors to get moving? ;D
I don't think this project should be abandoned. Not one bit. It's an amazing idea, and it sounds great so far. As far as getting a got cinder under the actors' behinds, that comes down to how much they want to continue. I haven't heard/read/seen head or hide of Duff or Slushie on the site (though it could be that they're posting in a section I don't frequent); and I see Jess every now and again, but are they even still on board?

Gah, you were the other candidate?! I didn't know. I acted like a total idiot when I said I was voicing Ax to you! I'm sorry! I honestly didn't know. I didn't intend to sound arrogant/smug about it because you were under the impression you were still waiting for approval and to having been told the position was already fulfilled.
Though with total meltdown, gasp-worthy, oh-my-god-what-the-f*ck reaction out of the way, I thank you for giving me the position. I'll work hard for the both of us. =D
According to this (http://rafaudio.nfshost.com/drupal/?q=node/154) the actors for Marco and Tobias are still active, although Tobias having not logged in for nearly 20 days or so but I don't think it's anything major.

Guy, we still don't have anyone doing Crayak's lines do we? 'Cause I may be able to do those as well. I kinda envisioned his voice to be like The Gravemind from HALO, deep, gravel-ly, and maybe a bit misty. Not as slow, or distorted, but deep and somewhat creepy.

I'll try to respond to everything that was brought up:
First off, my major goal here is self-sufficiency. The way the site was envisioned, no nagging would be necessary, because actors would just check their to-do list, check things off, timers would be informed, parts could be created, all that good stuff. The idea was that nobody should have to wait on anyone else for things that don't actually require them. That's why I really don't care if Duff hasn't been seen in a while.. He's done with this book. Completely. While we're floundering through the first 5 chapters. Now not all of the functionality I described is completely implemented, but actor to-dos certainly are.
The Schedule post that Gahnkruun linked was mostly my attempt at guilt-tripping... The way I see it, nobody needs to know if someone else hasn't posted recently. That's something the managers can deal with so we don't end up at each others' throats. I just posted that because I was sorta freaking out about my requests being ignored. I think possibly a list of what chapters are in what general state (not recorded, principals recorded, waiting for post-, in post-, waiting for upload, done) would be good, but no more detail than that.
Parker and Gahnkruun, thank you so incredibly much for resolving that.
Parker, as long as your range is good enough, I think doubling Crayak/Drode makes a lot of sense. I seem to recall you tinkering with some FX for Drode. I'd prefer all of the effects to be done in post-production, but I'd certainly appreciate input on what sounds good. We should probably try to avoid doubling too much as a whole (I'd probably say none of the principals should double) but the more processed and weird-sounding a voice is, the more possible doubling should be.
Running off to calc, I'll reread when I get back and answer anything else.

I haven't used that many effects with my recordings. I alter my spoken voice while recording, I don't use the comp that much. The only effects I use in Audacity is to change the pitch. I make sure all the lines are recorded, then up the pitch by a half step or so.
And we can upload future audio files? I thought we were just supposed to keep 'em on hold until a job was created for them?
If we can upload early, I've got all of Drode's lines rearing and ready.
I just have to begin recording Tom's lines. Then isolate Steve's lines and record his. Since Crayak doesn't speak until book 27/28, I'll leave him for last.

The only thing is we need parts and segments created on the site for recordings to be uploaded. Right now only Jess and I can do that. Anyone wanna volunteer?

I dont exactly get that. And if you dont need the book to do it, i'll volunteer. If you need the book to do it, it'll have to wait ti'll Christmas or so when i get the book

Well it depends. A while ago, Ellimist made a text file listing who speaks in each chapter. If I can find the file (and it's either in this forum or on the site somewhere) then it's just a matter of me showing someone how to create segments. Otherwise, someone (not necessarily the person who makes the segments) has to go through again, which would naturally require the book.

The dealing with a death of a parent, a horribly involved job with non-stop reports to the department of developmental disabilities abuse...yeah. Keeping those kids safe and getting over the grief of a parent dying...projects take back burner. I should have this done within the week, so long as I can find quite time to do so (living in a house with 6 other people.)
Let me know what needs to be done on the site as well, I can start doing stuff on there again.

Anidragon will now be taking on the role of Cassie.
Guy and I would like to keep the production and acting roles as separate as possible, to ensure that we are able to keep the production moving as quickly as possible. We're wary to have anyone new to the project take on a major voice-acting role, as this has bit us in the butt in the past. This was why I took on the role of Cassie, despite being more interested in the management aspect of the production. However, Anidragon is a pretty darn dedicated member, so we think she'll be great to take it on. :)
So. Now that we have the cast re-cast, again. Keep on truckin, folks.

The plan was to do Megamorphs 1 as a practice of sorts, so one character doesn't have to do all the narrating. When we start the series proper, I'd like to work multiple books at once, spread the work out.

Yeah, that's what I figured one day in the shower. No really, I was washing my hair thinking about my part in the series wondering, "Why Megamorphs? Hmm... wait... it would be a bummer if one person narrated everything like they do in the main series... and megamorphs are split between all the characters... oh it was a good move... I get it now." <-- my life story right there. Cool story bro.
Working on multiple books at once was also part of that train of thought. xD Like we narrate one book in one stage, then do the lines for other people's books in the next stage and so on. Once the "practise" is over there's more to flesh out. =P

Well I would imagine Hork Bajir would sound like animals so ... growling and gravelly voice...Taxxons I always imagine would have a shrill... like some sort of shrieking.

The one on the project site was the one I started. It was started under the reasoning that project and RAF should be kept separate, even though the two kinda co-relate. =x And since the cast list was outdated I thought I could start a "wiki" page for the cast list and have others edit it but not a lot of contributers so that was shot down. xD
I could simply delete it I suppose.
ANd I'm about to head off to my local shopping center to see if I can find a better mic. I feel so restricted using my phone which clips on occasion if I find myself raising my voice.

If the dialogue is printed in the books, we will record them, yes. Anything that the narrator merely describes, we don't need.

Haha, Yunyun... book 34 is a mile... no, more than a mile away. We haven't even finished one book let alone 34 of them. xD I think we should just focus on what we have and have to do now before worry about what we do after we've finished a book.
